I watched the Hobbit trailer and it looks alright so far.
Totally agree. I’ve seen this on some stores and a friend of mine has one of these. Luckily, mine is not like that, because I hate the television-like feel it gives to a film when it’s displayed on 30fps.
The Maltese Falcon - Always a lovely film to watch, not suprising since withen it’s cast is Bogart, Astor, and Lorre, great actors all of them. I love the cinematography of it, for instance how whenever Astor’s character is on screen there is something that evokes feelings of a prison, with the use of stripes on clothing, furniture, or with the lighting.

Tonight I watched 500 Days of Summer for the second time and still enjoyed it quite a bit. I hesitate to consider it a favorite movie, but many elements of it could easily make it become a favorite over time: the two charming leads, the quirkiness of the film, the lovable fairy tale format broken up by moments of despair, and the taste of the characters (decorations, music, CLOTHING!). I love dresses and yet I still will have to work hard to look as cute as Zooey.
Ultimately, I’d give it a A- grade if I’m being optimistic.
So these are the movies my friend and I watched yesterday
Sherlock, Jr - My personal favorite Buster Keaton feature, a film about film. Although I’ve seen it many a time, the stunts still astound me.
One Week - My favorite Keaton two reeler. A sweet and funny story of two clueless newlyweds determined to build their house.
Singin’ in the Rain - This was my first Gene Kelly movie, and I loved it! Very funny with great music. I defintely understand why it’s a classic.
Guys and Dolls - Another great musical, starring Sinatra and Brando. I really like Brando’s character, and this too is chalk full of beautiful songs.
Steamboat Bill Jr - Yet another Keaton film, and I think it’s one of his funniest. Mickey Mouse fans should know that the title and steamboat setting of this movie inspired Mickey’s first sound cartoon- Steamboat Willie.
Forgot to say this, but I saw The Help a couple nights ago and was really astounded. The pacing, character development and dialogue are all really well scripted. It’s just a beautifully directed film and really poignant, too.
The Shining is my favorite horror movie. I wasn’t bothered by it being a loose adapation, since i’ve never read any of King’s works. Even if I had, the movie was still really well done. But I can see how King would be annoyed or disapointed.
