Okay, I feel totally stupid for saying this, but I had no idea Liza Minelli was the daughter of Judy Garland! ![]()
It’s cool, I hope I didn’t sound to mean, re-reading that post I did, but it wasn’t my intentions!
Fun fact! Minelli is the only Oscar winner who has had both parents also win Oscars.
Which Superhero film are you guys looking forward to the most? Dark Night Rises. Amazing Spider Man, The Avengers?
Maybe The Amazing Spider-Man, if it gets good reviews. Otherwise The Dark Knight Rises.
The Dark Knight Rises, hands down.
The Dark Knight Rises, unquestionably.
I’d say all about equally.
Gandhi: I really enjoyed this movie. It was really informative as to what Gandhi went through, I really enjoyed it
To Be or Not to Be: This 1942 comedy stars Jack Benny and Carol Lombard, who are a part of a comedy troupe who outwits the Nazis. I liked it!
Gandhi is great. A memorable performance by Kingsley.
I was going to watch it on TCM the other night (yesterday?) but forgot. I think it’s on Netflix, anyway. I want to see it!
I saw this movie called The Piamist. I didn’t see all of it but from what I did saw, it was great. It’s about a Polish Jew man and him trying to survive around WWII and get captured by Nazi’s.
I recorded it on TCM! Defintely see it, it’s #49 on AFI’s 100 Years, 100 Laughs list. It’s a well aged movie. When it first came out in 1942, it wasn’t to well recieved, because it was made duing WWII, and people of course were dying due to the Nazis. People didn’t like seeing them the center of a comedy, even as the villians.
That is quite a good film.
Beginners was a pretty solid film, but I found the relationship stuff with the French actress to be slightly filler. I suppose it was meant to tie in with other things, but all in all I thought that part of the story was not terribly compelling. But otherwise worth a watch!
Well, it had lots of thematic ties with the overall plot, but I see what you mean.
Anyway, I always find Mélanie Laurent to be adorable, so I won’t complain.
Tommy (1975): As expected, this was probably the single most dorky, confusing, bizarre movie I ever have watched ever and I actually enjoyed it a good bit! (It helps that I’m a fan of The Who
) It’s completely sung-through which I imagine might seem kind of headache-inducing if you saw the film several times, but it’s weird, quirky, incredibly-70’s kitschy fun and in any case, Roger Daltrey looks…stunning.
Not a movie I’d recommend in general, but a movie I’d recommend to fans of the band and “retro” silliness.
Yes it is. I should try to catch the rest of it soon.
I still have to see it, but I’v heard alot about it.
Has anybody seen Cinderella Man?
Yes, the Ron Howard film starring Russel Crowe.
Classic boxing drama, with superb performances, specially from Giamatti, a underrated actor who I love.
