I haven’t watched that in a little while, just been busy.
Watching it right now. I’m on the dinner scene now.
That’s a great scene, but then all of them are.
Agreed. It’s my favorite movie.
It’s one of my favorite films.
Ah, i see.
I love the dinner scene. I haven’t watched in a while too.
The film works in service to the end. I think it’s pretty great.
The ending isn’t really enjoyable, especially because [spoil]I adore Joseph Gordon Levitt and would be grateful to date a guy like him.[/spoil]
Buuuut the whole point of the movie would change if [spoil]the movie had a happy ending. I have to admit I can relate to JGL’s character and it sort of bugged me when Summer quickly ran off and found someone to marry. I mean, if the main characters were miserable together, which it seemed they were (though I think Summer was being unreasonably picky—I truly don’t understand why she wouldn’t have had feelings for him. :/), by all means break up. It was just too close to home for me to really appreciate right now, though![/spoil]
As you say, the film isn’t about being happy for the characters like most romantic comedies (they even warn you at the beginning of the film)
It was in turn a realistic portrayal of a typical contemporary relationship, still with all the humor thrown in.
I often strongly dislike love stories, but that film was wonderfully constructed and became one of my favorites from that year.
I really disliked it. It really hurt my feelings, and I’m still bothered by that, a week later. I’m not saying it was bad, and if you like it, then great. Good for you. But I’m with Queen, I did not care for the end one bit. It was really sad, because I was in love with it until then.
Ok, take it easy ![]()
Basically, I appreciate it, and I don’t mind bittersweetness, but I don’t agree with it. Maybe the problem is that the two stars have too much chemistry together. ![]()
I watched The Interrupters a few days ago and it was fantastic.
^I think I agree. They made too much sense together to do…that… ![]()
Anyone like E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial? Watched it again a couple days ago.
I have only watched it once, when I was a little younger than what I am now. I love that movie. It’s a true classic that every generation needs to watch.
I just remembered yesterday that this year is the 30th anniversary. I remeember they re released it for the 20th anniversary in 2002. I used to have it on DVD but my brother took it with him by accident when he moved and I never got it back.
E.T. is one of the greatest films ever.
Not one I watch over and over again, but it’s a masterpiece anyway.
I need to rewatch that one. I don’t remember much, except not caring for it. But that’s back when I only watched movies for enjoyment. I’m e very different person now.
Glad you changed on that aspect! ![]()
