Movies - both new and old

My mom rented The Muppets and Hugo! Yay!

^Hurray, I love both!!

Well, it’s not really opinion to me. But anyway, I like them just as much.

David:You really should watch it. It’s an all time classic.

What would you guys say is the sadest animal death in a live film?

[spoil]I think Marley and Me is sad. I know what it’s like to have animal out down and it’s always hard.[/spoil]

Maybe you’d care to put a spoiler mark when making post like that? I think it’s an act of respect.

About the other discussion, film analysis is 90% opinion, though there are facts that can’t be denied. There are times when an opinion simply doesn’t count. Nobody can argue that Jack and Jill is a better film than Casablanca, just to make an example.

But in cases like this, when you try to compare a masterpiece against a masterpiece (and specially when they’re totally different films beyond the theme), saying than one is better than the other is a matter of opinion.

Both Goodfellas and The Godfather are considered in some lists to be “the greatest film ever” (and lists with a lot more credibility than the IMDB one which is, after all, made by users)

The best attempt one can do is to qualify individual elements of the film, so that you can say that Goodfellas has a more innovative edition, but Godfather has stronger performances (and there’s still a great deal of opinion in those statements.

I need to see The Godfather, too. I recently met one of its executive producers

Those are both fantastic movies.

Today I watched The Gay Divorcee starring Fred & Ginger. Then I watched Buster Keaton’s Our Hospitality. Both excellent films.

Whoops, sorry, forgot, my bad.

Seeing The Hunger Games tomorrow night! Marvellously excited!

I got back from seeing The Hunger Games a little while ago, loved it!

I saw Hugo today, which was really good.

That is good that you saw it^^. I still haven’t watched it.

I saw The Hunger Games last night and I have to say that I don’t really get the craze. I haven’t read the books, but the story wasn’t that groundbreaking and I didn’t really connect to any of the characters. The romance felt a little fake and there weren’t many twists to keep me interested beyond the characters. The acting was decent though and there are a few interesting scenes, and I guess it’s better than most teen sensation franchises. It just didn’t really click for me.

Haha. Eddie Murphy’s A Thousand Words has a 0% on RT out of like 50 reviews.

I really loved the Hunger Games!!

Me too, IV! I was hearing bad or mediocre reviews from both critics and people I know, but whatever to the naysayers, I say. It was great!

Yeah, I personally would have shortened the action sequences, but I really enjoyed it.

I thought they were an adequate length; I wouldn’t have changed them. Unless you mean they were too disturbing for you, which I understand.

Hunger Games really doesn’t interest me.

No, not at all. My dad and I just got very bored and ready to leave near the end, and I was just wishing they had shaved 20 minutes off.
