Movies - both new and old

IV: I agree. Over the Hedge didn’t look that bad, I’ll try and catch it on TV if it happens to be on just to see what it’s like. Bee Movie even in the trailers didn’t interest me. I have been interested in the ones starting with Megamind and after that. Since DreamWorks started with 20th Century Fox, they seem to be getting riskier than ever, hopefully for better than worse. I really can’t tell if the new films look great or not so much (except Dragons 2 looks awesome!).

I feel really weird about that snail movie and all the KFP sequels.

I think Kung Fu Panda 3 should be fine, but are they going to really make up to 8 films or something like that? I seriously hope they don’t, how can you even do that? I don’t think it warrants more than 3 movies, 4 or maybe 5 tops! I also know a Penguins movie is coming. I don’t know, I still haven’t become a true DreamWorks fan yet. Only a few I would call really good so far.

OMG a penguins movie? Ugh I detest spin offs.

Wild Strawberries My first Ingmar Bergman film. I had a great time watching it. I plan on watching it again real soon. I’ve heard how his films are for years, so I was expecting a different ending.

Oblivion One of the most beautiful movies I’ve ever seen. I regret not catching it in IMAX. I enjoyed the story as well. And I saw some of the similarities in it to Walle.

Yeah, I can recall any of those titles!

Rented 2 movies this week: Dumbo and Epic.

Dumbo was really good, it has that classic Disney feel to it. The last time I saw Dumbo, I was about 5 or 6, so it was fun to watch it again and see what parts I remembered.

Epic was all right. I thought the story was kind of predictable and it dragged a bit at parts. I wasn’t too impressed by the voice acting either. But on a lighter note, the animation was SO GORGEOUS. In terms of animation, I would probably say this is my favorite film from Blue Sky. Epic wasn’t fantastic, but I thought it was worth the rental.

It’s like Back-To-Back mode in Army of Two, how awesome is that?

Looking forward to 2 Guns, which premieres here next week. Hoping it’s the next Lethal Weapon!

It was No. 1 at the US box office on its opening weekend, so at least I know a lot of people wanted to see it like me. :sunglasses:

2 Guns Trailer

Saw an NC review on The Last Airbender. That film is an ABOMINATION to the series. Yet M. Night still plans to make the second movie. The kids who played Aang has aged three years now, so how can he even play? Ugh, maybe it will be cancelled.

Yay, I love Dumbo  It’s one of my favorite of Walt’s classic movies. And yeah, those are my initial thoughts on Epic, so I hope I won’t be let down when I see it.

David: I saw the review too. It was really funny! And I’m glad he attacked it for misunderstanding the show, rather than the name mispronunciations or “race-bending”. Those things are bad and annoying, but, if the actors and writers understood these characters at all, the movie could have worked.

My thoughts on Don Jon: yetanotherpixarblog.blogspot.com … eview.html

I remember months ago when Parental Guidance came out. You know what I said?

Me: This is ironic. Parental Guidance is rated PG, and PG stands for Parental Guidance!

Gravity: I watched this in 3D a few weeks ago and loved it, it’s truly as good as the reviews.

Rush: Great film. I am a Formula 1 fan and obviously was familiar with the Lauder vs Hunt rivalry documented (focusing on the 1976 season) in the film. I think Ron Howard did a fantastic job and was pleasantly surprised by both actors in particular by Chris Hemsworth, who I didn’t like much before this film.

Thumbelina (1994): I finally watched this after so long and I enjoyed it, honestly. Is it sappy and predictable? Of course, but endearingly so. It was certainly watchable and had some fun musical moments. It’s too innocent and sweet to hate. And of course, I admire Bluth’s animation and how lush the characters and environments all look.

I agree. It’s not a popular or terribly mature movie, but I have a soft spot for it. Even if Thumbelina the person is kind of whiny and inactive. lol

Yeah, I thought the same. I love Jodi Benson though.

Looking forward to The Invisible Woman (2013), directed by and starring Ralph Fiennes as Charles Dickens:

I am thinking about checking out these titles sometime:

(1) Tron

(2) Back to the Future

(3) The Black Hole

(4) My Neighbor Totoro

(5) Ponyo

(6) Galaxy Quest

(If you look at about half of these titles, you may not realize it, but I seem to be attracted to Sci-Fi for some reason…)

Pacific Rim:One of this year’s best blockbusters without a doubt. For anyone who loves giant monster movies- one of the most niche genres in cinema- this film is nothing short of magical. If you’ve ever forgotten, even for a second, why you love watching colossal beasts knocking over buildings and causing mayhem, Pacific Rim will remind you, loudly, beautifully, and intelligently. Even if kaiju aren’t your bag, this works. And you don’t have to be a Del Toro enthusiast to get what he’s doing here.
