Terminator Salvation will hit theaters on May 22, 2009:
oooh, another Terminator movie? Sounds cool!
Kinda sorta… I might could stream it, as well. Mostly I only download movies that have gone extinct and no longer sell in stores. Mostly the old ancient ones that are considerably classics. I rarely do get anything NEW unless I am desperate and want to really see something.
‘Rarely’ is too often.
I was quite keen on seeing Hancock, but the bad reviews have really surprised me. I still might see it tomorrow, either way, because I do usually enjoy Will Smith’s performances.
Not for me… because most new stuff, sadly, doesn’t interest me at all. Most stuff that tend to catch other people’s interest doesn’t seem to interest me. And I just feel like I’m at a loss when people are like “But it’s so good. You should watch it.” And that just turns my mood for it to being sour.
Just because one of the new things is good for others doesn’t make it good for me. I don’t care what’s really good or bad. I just have my own specific tastes. And if it’s something that doesn’t meet them. Then I’ll grow bored with it.
Here’s the trailer for the 2008 remake of The Day the Earth Stood Still :
the day the earth stood still remake makes me mad, although by itself, it doesn’t look too bad, but I love the original, so I’ll never really like this remake.
Anyway, I finally saw WALL-E. IT ROCKS! BEST FILM OF THE YEAR SO FAR!!!
Here’s a full review:
“WALL—E”: A Cautionary Tale that takes no Caution in Telling a Great Story!
Wall-E : A+
It seems to me that Pixar almost always gets better and better with every film. ‘WALL—E,’ the animation studio’s first leap into the sci-fi genre is no exception.
For the first third of the film, WALL—E is shown cleaning up the trash of mankind left all over the earth (the film is set about 700 years in the future). It is also revealed that the other WALL—E bots have shut down and he’s the last one still working to clean the earth. Here, he is an animated Charlie Chaplin as he discovers old knick-knacks and relics. Everything he does on his own is sweetly hilarious, but some may tire of WALL—E’s cuteness. Just when his adorability becomes mechanical, EVE arrives.
EVE’s directive is to find new living things on earth, so her initial reaction to WALL—E is to ignore him. But when he shows her his collection of human antiques, she starts to develop a personality complimentary to his. In the next few days, EVE finds a real plant. The next half of the film includes many surprise twists and turns, so I won’t spoil the rest of it for you.
The music by Thomas Newman is moving and at the same time, it makes the film a lot of fun! And in the way of sound, the sound effects are top-notch and add new believability to this fanciful story. And it’s Pixar, so of course the animation rocks! But what totally trumps the animation is the camera angles and very soulful character development in EVE.
Another great aspect of this movie is Fred Willard. Although his part isn’t all that big (he is in the live-action commercials for BuyNLarge, the WalMartish corporation that essentially buys out the world), it is essential to the message of the movie and honestly, it’s one of his better performances.
So, Pros: good for the little ones, great filmmaking, and a surprisingly great message. Cons: the cuteness might annoy you, but whenever it gets repetitive, it stops itself and gets good. Honestly, this should be the next animated film nominated for Best Picture. Hey, a guy can dream, can’t he? “WALL—E” is Rated G and 97 minutes long.
I saw two really powerful movies today. BOth of them really touched m heart. The first one is called Freedom Writers, with Hilary Swank. Really touching, and got me crying in the end. THe other one is Aleeklah and the Bee. This movie was really well acted and it made me cheer.
I saw Journey to the Centre of the Earth in 3D the other day. Not a bad film, although it was obviously geared towards the whole 3D thing as oppossed to having a good story as well as cool special effects.
FREEDOM WRITERS!!!
GREAT MOVIE!!!
Anyway, the next films I’m planning to see soon are as follows:
Hancock (looks dumb to me but I just wanna see it for myself)
Hellboy II: The Golden Army
The Dark Knight (Jesus this looks awesome!)
Mama Mia! (well, maybe…)
And I will not actually pay money to see JTTCOTEI3D, just because I hate The Mummy and Brendan Fraser just reminds me too much of it.
Actually I just saw a Spill.com review for JTTCOTEI3D and they said it was dumb, but fun to watch in 3D, so… maybe… we’ll see.
I guess the other summer movies I want to see is Mama Mia and The Dark Knight.
Here’s the official teaser trailer for Quantum of Solace :
YESSS!!! QUANTUM OF SOLACE!!!
It’s directed by the director of “Stranger Than Fiction” which is one of my favorite films of all time!!!
you know, one of my favorite films of all time that I haven’t mentioned on this thread is “For Your Consideration,” directed by and starring Christopher Guest.
THAT MOVIE IS SOOOOOOO FUNNY!!!
Quotes:
“It’s more like a lah-lah-leh-leh!”
“I’m Mary Pat Hooligan, and I’m a freakin’ weird lesbo.”
“Yeah, they’ll all go over to frenchie! ‘Oh, yes, let’s give you the awards, cause you’re so foreign!’ And I’ll say, ‘***k you!’/Now I know what it’s like to stare down the Grand Canyon.”
“See the difference?/Was it louder?”
Edited. I combined both of your posts. – Mitch
I saw the movie Over the Hedge today. It is my little brother’s favorite animated movie of all tim. I understand why now. It is really hilarious.
another one that is HI-larious: Death at aFuneral.
SEE IT!!!
I think I have seen that one before, (or maybe it was a staged version of it) but I don’t remember.
I can’t wait to watch, The Dark Night! Who’s going to see it on opening day?
~~ JOHN•E
JOHN-E - Is that even a question you need to ask? I’m seeing it on opening day without question. I first heard about The Dark Knight back in July of 2006 when they announced the title and the casting of Heath Ledger. I couldn’t be more excited about this film, and in paticular, Heath’s performance. All the reviewers so far I believe, have said that he’s going to get the Best Supporting Actor nomination at the Oscars next year, and will possibly win the award (if that happens, he’d only be the second actor to win an Oscar posthumously, after Peter Finch for 1976’s Network).
im not going to see it it looks too scarry for me
I’m really excited for The Dark Knight. I haven’t been this excited for a film since There Will Be Blood and Surf’s Up and WALL-E.
