Don’t you mean paint cans instead of bricks, or are you
refering to the second one, Home Alone 2: Lost in New York ?

Heh, the Home
Alone films are classics, and they are, in my opinion, absolutely brilliant! The first three
Home Alone films made it to #2 in my list after all (they are all tied for second
place). Yes, you heard right - second place!
The Home
Alone films used to be my favourite movies of all time. That only changed in 1997 when I saw
Star Wars: Episode IV - A New Hope in theatres (all the Star
Wars movies tie for first place in my list, obviously ).
I know that most people
wouldn’t agree about calling any of the Home Alone films masterpieces (especially 2
and 3, considering that they’ve been panned by audiences and critics alike), but that’s what I consider them to
be. Our family also has an unofficial tradition of watching Home Alone films every
Christmas (or any day during the Advent season).
The only Home Alone film
that I didn’t like was Home Alone 4. But the thing is, that movie was made-for-TV,
so I never expected it to be a masterpiece in the first place. Unfortunately, I also never expected it to be
horrible, which I thought it was…
In
my opinion, the third and fourth ones are the most terrible, basically because they didn’t include any of the
original cast. Why would you even make a sequel to a movie, and not have the original cast? Unless of course,
they didn’t want to come back for the follow-up.
Haven’t seen the second Home Alone, but I want to so
badly! Heh. And I won’t be watching the third one or the fourth.
Oh yeah, I love all of the Home Alone films (with the exception of the fourth
one, which I haven’t seen yet). I crack up every time I watch them.
The third one wasn’t that
good, however, like you stated, CountSolo. The only reason I really like it is
because of the rat…
As for musicals, well…I enjoy all of the classics: The Sound of
Music, My Fair Lady, etc…
Oh I love that movie. My gut exploded from
laughter after I first saw that movie.
I think the main reason that the fourth one was
so appalling is that John Hughes wasn’t involved with that project in any way. The fact that the film didn’t
have that Home Alone “feel” isn’t too much of a problem; the problem is
that they weren’t able to make their new storytelling format work.
It’s too bad you didn’t like the
third one, but to each his own Obviously, I highly recommend that you watch the second one. I usually don’t
like slapstick comedy (they’ve been overusing that comedy technique recently, in my humble opinion), but the
first three Home Alone films are some of the films that I’ve seen in which
slapstick actually works.
Note to CountSolo, I said I would not be watching the third or the
fourth one. Sorry if this came across as being sarcastic.
How many Home Alones have they made altogether?
TSS - Four.
I highly recommend you
not to watch the fourth one. Unless you’re really curious, you’re bound to be
disappointed (but we all hold different opinions, so you never know )
Did you mean to say, "…like
stated," or, “…contrary to what I stated”?
Oh, no, I didn’t find anything sarcastic in your post at all. As I said, to
each his own.
Really? I thought they made three. What are their titles again?
Home Alone, Home Alone 2: Lost in New
York, and Home Alone 3. I purposely left the fourth one out of that
list for reasons that need not be specified but they called it Home Alone 4: Bringing Down the
House. The title itself is testament enough to how bad it was (in my opinion).
Did you mean to
say, “…like stated,” or, “…contrary to what I stated”?
I meant like you stated.
Heheh – sorry for the misinterpretation.
And yeah, I’ll take your advice and not watch the fourth
one unless it just happens to be on tv or something. (snigger)
I think they made too many Home Alones. It isn’t realistic for a kid to be left alone
some place to defend himself so many times.
I meant like you stated. Heheh – sorry for the
misinterpretation.
No problem
I think
they made too many Home Alones. It isn’t realistic for a kid to be left alone some place to defend himself so
many times.
Well, the third one didn’t involve the same child, but yeah, you are still
correct in saying that the events depicted in the film are very unrealistic. But they are just movies after all -
filmmakers often transcend reality in their films.
One of the things that keep coming up in discussions
between me and my siblings regarding the Home Alone films is: How the heck could
those robbers still be alive by the end of the movie, considering what they’ve gone through? I mean, it’s a
little weird that someone who just got electrocuted for who-knows-how-many seconds or someone who just got hit by
an iron on his forehead could survive.
Or got his head burned with a blowtorch.
Haha – yeah, I know. Nevermind how the guys survived, however. I wanna know how the kid got
so smart all of a sudden and just started constructing these traps like crazy. As a kid, it makes you want to
just try your hand at making them to see if they work.
My absolute favourite movies
include:
The Iron Giant;
The Incredibles;
South Park: Bigger, Longer, and Uncut;
Monty Python and
the Holy Grail;
the Lord of the Rings trilogy;
Pirates of the Caribbean: Curse of the Black Pearl;
Fight
Club;
Shaolin Soccer.
As for what I’m looking forward to, I dunno – I wouldn’t mind seeing the next
Harry Potter movie, but it’s not an absolute must. I tend not to look forward to movies.
I absolutely love Shaolin Soccer Spork. The Asian movie,
for some reason, really capture my attention. I also like Tokyo Drift, The anime movies, Crouching Tiger, Hero,
and House of Flying Daggers.
I just got The
Lord of The Rings film trilogy for Easter. And it was the Extended Edition. The three films have lots of new
material. Film one has 30 minutes of added footage, film two: 43 minutes, film three: 50 minutes. I watched the
first one last night with commentary by Peter Jackson and some of the writers, and discovered that there are four
commentaries, yes four, for the film. The set cost 70 dollars.
Who here also loves the trilogy?
