I watched two movies yesterday to pass a bit of time.
The first was a movie called Doc Hollywood, which really reminded me of Cars for some reason. I guess it was the whole…main character tries to get to Hollywood and finds himself stuck in a small town where he soon learns to respect their lifestyle, etc, etc.
Then I watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind. I enjoy it quite a bit. But I can’t seem to grasp what the message of the movie is. Don’t get your memory erased?
Although I suppose it could be about how important bad memories are as well as good, and to try and forget them will never really solve any problems. Who knows!
I caught Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind on TV too, Mark-E, though I too didn’t really get the point of it. Some of it was very confusing, and although I’m not against non-linear storylines, there’s a line which I think this film crossed. Jim Carrey was good, though.
I’ve got a friend’s copy of In Bruges sitting by the TV, waiting to be watched, but I haven’t got round to it yet. It doesn’t look that good a film to me, but she’s insisting I try it so I’ll give it a go later this evening.
Oh, I definitely enjoy it. It’s produced by Michael Bay, who was also the producer of the two most recent Texas Chainsaw Massacre movies, which are two of my favorite horror films.
My dad, sister, and I saw Fanboys last Sunday. Hilarious. It’s basically a production that only geeks would appreciate, particularly Star Wars geeks, so if you aren’t a fan of Lucas’ works then you probably wouldn’t like this film.
Saw The Curious Case of Benjamin Button this afternoon, and I really enjoyed it. It was much more melancholy than I’d expected, but the style was brilliant and it’s certainly a very quirky film.
Welcome to the Dollhouse – 8/10 Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind – 9/10 Lawn Dogs – 8.5/10 Tokyo Story – 10/10
I started watching both The Pineapple Express and Role Models but got bored. It’s a shame, too, because I want to love anything associated with Judd Apatow or “Freaks and Geeks” alumni.
I watched Charlie Wilson’s War this evening, to pass the time.
I don’t think the movie was my cup of tea, personally. Although it did have one rather well written scene in it…so I’ll give it kudos for that. And the cast were all fine.
I have to say, I’ve heard really, really bad things about Friday the 13th. But I love a good horror movie, and it sounds like something I’d enjoy just for a laugh. Pleased to know that you enjoyed it, CMB.
I could’ve been going to see Bolt tomorrow evening at the cinema, but I’ve chosen instead to see Slumdog Millionaire again, not only because it’s an amazing movie, but also because it’s one of the few movies that have been played at our local cinema with subtitles, which is perfect for my mum who never gets to enjoy the cinema experience because she’s deaf. So for once we’ll be able to sit through a movie without me having to explain to her what’s going on every five minutes!
Was supposed to see Bolt yesterday… but it got delayed due to my girlfriend being ill and phoning in sick for work.
Yesterday instead with my mother in work, my father (whom since I turned 15 hasn’t shown tollerance for animated movies) asked to watch WALL-E so I brought down my HDTV and played it on one of our PS3s, he followed it up this morning with the wanting to watch of The Dark Knight.
Went and saw Bolt, after being sold tickets to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button (which I didn’t notice until the certificate showed although the vast number of trailers for Watchmen and Young Victoria should have raised suspicion). Complained and got tickets to Bolt, saw only the High School Muscial 3 DVD advert, so I was annoyed to say the least! Caught Tokyo Mater, enjoyed it… and Bolt.
Bolt is the easiest one of the best features to come out of Walt Disney Animation Studios in the last 15 years! and I’m not afraid to back it up!
Now in the middle of a “Classic Bond Marathon” following Connery’s Goldfinger with Moore’s Live and Let Die!
I’ve watched quite a few movies over the past week. I was just waiting for more people to post
I watched Evil Dead 2 for the umpteenth time, and it’s still as fun and wacky as ever. Never seems to disappoint me.
Then for whatever reason, I watched Bee Movie. That is a good 80 minutes I won’t be getting back anytime soon. It’s hard to think that the same Seinfeld wrote this movie. You’d have thought he could have at least been a bit funnier…since that is generally what the DreamWorks movies aim for.
And finally, I watched Halloween; the Rob Zombie remake. And who knew, it wasn’t as good as the original! I dunno, if you like that sort of stuff that you get from modern horror, then you may enjoy it. But I think I’ll stick with John Carpenter’s movie.
I watched The Pursuit of Happyness today, I really think Will Smith should be doing more movies like this. I must admit, I wasn’t expecting to enjoy the movie when I tuned in to watch it. But the film won me over in the end.
