My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic

I suppose your explanation makes sense. Sure Twilight was out of character, but that’s kind of why I liked it anyway. Twilight is so obsessed with understanding that the slightest glimpse of something unexplainable drives her nuts. She’s my favorite character, but in a strange way I found a slight pleasure from seeing her injuring herself. I’m not trying to propose anything, but a combination of her going to far over a passable occurance, and ignoring the privacy of her friends screams for some sort of correction.

Yes the moral could be a bit improve, but at least it’s not as strange as the one from the previous episode (where Rarity designs the others dresses), since Rarity really never did anything wrong and Twilight gives her half the blame anyways.

In the end I feel as if the comedic scenes you’ve previously mentioned over-power the flaws in this episode. While people might get aggrivated at someone when they say they like a Pixar film because of that one part where so-and-so does such-an-such, this show is mainly designde for individual moments of genius than a full circle of smart writing for its run-time (even if it arguably obtains both). Therefore, I think the episode was well worth it just to see Twilight turn into a flaming Pokemon at the end.

Feeling Pinkie Keen is among my favorite episodes, but my absolute favorite so far has to be Bridle Gossip. :stuck_out_tongue:

^ Me too! 8D

Alright, now I want to see this. But at the same time, I kinda don’t. Why? I used to collect MLPs like mad a couple of years ago… I’m worried that I’ll pick it up again! And I sold nearly half my collection already! D8

I still didn’t get to see the newest episode yet (16). I’ve been too busy yesterday and last weekend, I didn’t even have 20 minutes spare… ~_~

Oh well, I guess YouTube won’t run away.

WHY DIDN’T ANYONE TELL ME THERE WAS A TOPIC ON THIS SHOW?

I love it so much! I hate dolls, but I was so determined to get the show a second season I bought:

every McDonalds toy
all 6 single ponies
Twilight’s balloon (plus an extra Twilight that comes with it)
Pinkie Pie valentines chocolates
Rainbow Dash valentines chocolates
Pinkie Pie flashlight

In the process of getting the show a second season, I’ve become a collector. My sanity is slipping.

Also, /co/ is OBSESSED with this show.

^ Nice to know that if a second season is announced, you would’ve accounted for 15% of total merchandise sales. :sunglasses:

Also [spoil]“random”[/spoil] loves the show too.

Nooooo… really? :') Old news man. :stuck_out_tongue:

By the way… As much as I’m ever going to love a show. I will not buy its toys. I swear it! … To my Cintiq!

@Chuckles… I am not ever going on that board again. My poor virgin eyes… ._.

8D Sorry about that Czarine, but it’s something everypony has to do eventually.

I like this show but when I try to watch it online my family’s like "Awwww, Glenn’s watching my little pony" :-\

Brush it off your shoulders dude. They’re only going to have fun doing that if you are annoyed by it.

Glenn got me some ponies yesterday. <3 I got: Scootaloo, Pinkie Pie, and Rainbow Dash. Can’t decide if I like Pinkie or Rainbow better, though. I love them all! 8D

Glenn:You can watch it at my house. I live with my family, so they’re used to weird kids.

I got a Pinkie Pie toy! I display it with pride!

I have three ponies from the first generation in my cabinet, so don’t feel bad. 8D Scrumptious the fuzzy green-haired earth pony, Glow the blue butterfly-winged pony, and a grey baby pegasus with pink hair. :U

I miss the carefree days of hanging about in My Little Pony message boards, looking at customs… jeez I feel old now

While my favourites at the beginning have been Spike, Twilight and Apple Jack, now Fluttershy has seen it fit to join their ranks, the sneaky thing kind of grew on me and with Sonic-Rainboom I only came to love her more so she’s now another favourite.

I still love Pinkie Pie and Rainbow Dash and Rarity, I just love the others more that’s all- it’s kind of a great show where there’s no-one I really hate all that much. Maybe Gilda perhaps but she was only a one-shot character. And while she’s unpleasent I don’t really HATE her either.

I think a favourite episode of mine (including Bridal Gossip, I love little Apple Bloom too in fact now I remember that was an important episode for her), I think a favourite may have been ‘Boast Busters’ for me. I kind of loved how Spike’s and Twilight’s relationship was protrayed.

Plus moustach powers and a weirdly adorable monster. Who can’t love that? Plus this literally made me laugh:

Rarity: QUICK! I NEED A MIRROR! Get me a mirror! What did she do to my hair?! I know she did something terrible to my hair!!

Twilight: …Nothing.

Rainbow Dash: It’s fine!

Applejack: It’s gorgeous!

Spike: …It’s green

Poor Rarity, but I couldn’t help laughing.

(Plus I don’t know if you noticed but the green haired pony who felt insulted by Rarity’s reaction to the colour seemed to have dyed her hair to orange at some point if you look hard enough at back ground ponies in other episodes).

Czarine is trying to get me to watch this.

And to be honest, with all this positive talk about it, I just might. 8D

I used to love the My Little Ponies when I was a kid (and was just obsessed with horses and ponies in general); the only pony I ever owned was a blue/green pony with pink and purple hair named Ivy. I loved that thing! I always wondered where she went, too. :stuck_out_tongue:

little chef

Get on skype so we can get to watching it. You said you’d be online today! :stuck_out_tongue:

Little-chef, this show is awesome!!! I hope you like it. I’m already collecting the toys. 8D

I have a queation, and I think it’s relevant. How does flash animation work exactly?

The apocalypse has come. They’ve made a good My Little Pony cartoon. Not that the original series was outright terrible, but it did have a lot of constant problems. The new series just works, for several reasons.

 1. The characters. This is easily the biggest reason. In the original, there was way too much similarity between various characters’ personalities. In the new series, they’re all distinctive, and, at least for the main characters, all likeable. Well, I’ll admit that Rarity’s yet to do anything in the eight or so episodes I’ve watched to make me like her, but given that I normally hate the “fashion-conscious” stereotype, the fact that I’m neutral towards her is somewhat of an achievement. The rest of the main cast are all great, and have a suprising amount of depth for a kids’ show. The minor characters get on my nerves sometimes (I could make such a rant about that episode with the zebra), but that’s not a major issue with the show, just with the occasional episodes.

 2. The animation style is perfect for the concept. The original series frankly looks like the animators of Transformers and GI Joe were dragged in and forced to use some pastel colours. The result was a bizarre mish-mash of designs and colours. The new series embraces its sugary sweetness, creating a world that is actually much more pleasant to watch because it is clearly so utterly removed from our own.

 3. No humans. I cannot describe how forced-in the human characters seemed in the original series, but the lack of them in this new series just shows how this is a fully developed world that is able to function on its own.

 4. The show is always willing to poke fun at itself. Pinky Pie in particular is quite possibly the most epic parody of My Little Pony ever, from her voice to her near-constant hyper happiness to her tendency to randomly burst into song, and all of this is played for laughs. The result is that I like the character, and when it does occasionally become necessary for her to be a bit more serious, it’s utterly convincing, and I actually feel for the character (something that I can only recall happening once with the original show, and that was actually from the movie, for what it’s worth).

 5. The show is just downright hilarious at times. Some of this is just due to the the self-parody mentioned above, but there is a lot of other humour to be foudn there as well. Some of it is actually surprisingly clever, and probably intended as a parental bonus. For instance, I only just figured out this morning why Apple Jack’s brother is called Macintosh (3… 2… 1… you probably got it just then).

In short: the series is great. It’s simple, but immensely enjoyable light entertainment. It also stands as the only girls’ cartoon I’ve actually enjoyed.

Now, I just need to figure out how to buy some of the toys without getting too many weird looks, even for me. From what I gather, they won’t be making it to Australia until May, so at least I have time to mentally prepare myself for the horrible colour scheme of the girl’s section in every toy department in the state.

^Nice to know you enjoy it too, but I believe the most used term is:
“The Mayan prophecy was true! They’ve made a good MLP show!”

Also, I agree that all the major characters are equally great. I can’t really decide on a favorite character because all the ponies are equally awesome. ;-p
