Named the Same

Hello fellow Pixar fans and followers,

Ever noticed that a character in a Pixar film shares the same name as yourself, a friend, or a family member? Do you have a cousin named McQueen, or an uncle named Buzz? Perhaps one of your siblings carries the cognomen of Sid or Sally? Whatever the name, feel free to post them here and share the fandom!

I’ll go first, since there are people in my family (and friends of the family) that share names with well-known Pixar entities…

Friends of the Family:

  • Woody (friend of my dad’s)
  • Mike (a co-worker/friend of my dad’s, I think…)
  • Sheldon (a friend of my dad’s)
  • Bruce (a friend of my dad’s)
  • Tony (an acquaintance/friend of my dad’s)
  • Bob (a friend of my dad’s; then again, I’m sure that almost everyone knows someone named “Bob”…)

Family Members and In-Laws:

  • James P. Sullivan (an in-law/friend of the family)
  • Nymo (an in-law/friend of the family; pronounced the same as “Nemo”)
  • “Lizzy” (I have an aunt named Elizabeth)

Other:

  • Although I’ve never seen the gentleman, there is a teacher/supervisor at the college I attend who’s name is Remy. I think that goes for someone at my sister’s school, as well.

Yes, I really do have an in-law/“relative” named James P. Sullivan. You can’t get any closer than that. (laughs)

So how about you guys?

– Mitch

We have a street named McQueen.

My grandfathers name is “robert” nickname “Bob”
We use to have a baseball building named the “BOB”
Mike-cousin from New Mexico

I know a Woody, an Emily, a Hannah, a Pete, a James, a Helen, and a John.

No Bobs. Weird.

Well, I’ll probably go down the list of Movies, starting with TI.

Bob: Best friend named robert.
Helen: Good friend name Helen
Violet: None at the moment
Dash: none at the moment
Jack-Jack: none, but I know alot of people named Jack.
Lucius: None
Mirage: Other than the definition, none
Buddy: No one, but the name of a character in a play I did was named Buddy.
Rick: Uncle’s shortened name.
Bernie: None
Edna: None
Tony: Name of one of the most annoying people in my high school.
Kari: I know none, except the name of a digimon character’s name.

Interesting thread, Mitch!

My grandmother’s called Mary, like Boo. Tony is my dad’s name. And I think that’s it…I can’t even think of anyone with the most common names, like Bob. Oh, I do have a friend called Michael, though.

Hmm, unfortunately I don’t think any of my family members have Pixar names, but a few of my friends have names like Mike/Michael, Hannah, Mary, Helen, Eve, George, Sally, and my dog was named Jack, so I used to call him Jack-jack!

Sounds like a lot of people here have friends and/or relatives with Pixar character names. Very cool.

Puh-ha! That’s funny. Kind of ironic actually, since I find Tony Rydinger to be a little annoying myself.

A113 and lizardgirl - Hmm. No Bobs? Interesting…

Oh, and thanks, lizardgirl!

I neglected to mention that I also had a rat named Hannah. Heh.

Mitch: Actually, i find Tony (from the movie) a really cool cat, and if given more scren time, we could see the relationship between Violet and Tony develop a little more.

My ex-boyfriend’s name is Florian, nicknamed Flo. And his name in the Internet is Harvester, or Harv for short. So, he shares two names of two different Cars Characters^^
And a former classmate’s name was Mike.

But those are all I know with a Pixar name.

On to a Cars List now.

Lighting: Hmmmm? :unamused:
Mater: I don’t know.
Sally: One of my best friend’d girlfriend’s sister’s name.
Doc: None, except 3, the one from Cars, Snow White, and Mr. Doc Rivers of the Celtics.
Ramone: You know, 19 years of my life and I still don’t know a single Ramone yet.
Flo: Well, it is short for Florence, the name of a San Diego Charger last year who went to the Jags.
Sarge: None
Fillmore: None
Chick: Funny, I know none.
Mack: Aside from the Cars movie and a Vdeo game character. . .none.
Harv: None (no harvey’s either)
Lizzie: I have got a lot of friends named Elizabeth if that counts.
Luigi: Besides Cars and mario’s brother, none.
Guido: A first grade friend of mine’s last name.

The Star Swordsman - Oh, I do agree with you there in that it would be interesting to see the relationship between Violet and Tony develop. It’s just that I was never that crazy about Tony himself, for some reason. I do like his design, though. (heheh)

Hmm. I didn’t think about that. I guess it counts. I have an aunt named Elizabeth, so perhaps I should add her to my list…

I can’t think of anyone I know with a Pixar character’s name… But I’m amazed that you actually know a James P. Sullivan, Mitch!

I know an Emily (then again, that’s a popular name), a classmate named Andy, and I’ve met someone with the last name of Sullivan.

rachel - Ha-ha. I know. It’s very ironic!

– Mitch

the funny thing is I know a lot of Emilys and quite a few Andys in my life.

Friend-emily
Neighbor-Sullivans
just to add on to my list

Someone named Emile came to my chruch

Emile…wow that would be once in a lifetime.

Bo - My friend in primary school
Jessie - Nickname of my friend in high school
Mike - My cousin
Randall - My cousin’s friend
Bob - My friend’s uncle
Helen - My friend’s mom
Jack - Nickname of my friend’s brother
Lucius - My cousin’s friend
Eve - Nickname of my friend in kindergarten
Mo - Nickname of my dad’s friend (I know that sounds really weird, at least the weirdest nickname I’ve ever known)

I have a friend named Eva but that’s all I can think of right now.
