For some reason the word
“up” reminds me of a trampoline or a seesaw… probably because of that Dr Seuss book I read, Hop On
Pop, and he illustrates the word “UP” as a puppy being flung upwards on a seesaw. But I’m getting
offtopic here so I’ll just shut up.
Actually, Valiant was created by a small company located in London. It was one
of the first big CGI pictures to be made entirely in England.
I do like the idea of something to do with
the wars, but they would have to ensure that it were a completely different take on Valiant- something new and
original.

ick also says that Pete Doctor is directing, Ronnie Del Carmen is working in
story and the lead character is an adult male!

Ahh – I see. How
cool. Disney distributes everything… (snigger)
JV - Wow – how
interesting. Thanks for the information, dude!
Heh – I also had the idea that
“Up” could be about a dinosaur (a Pteradactyl, perhaps) who can’t fly. Goodness knows how long I’ve
been waiting for Pixar to do a film on prehistoric beasts…
Mitch - No prob!
Well all we know now is
that it’s about some guy.
Awesome
Pete Doctor is directing!!! I love Monsters INC. so I will probably likethis one
too. Thanks for the news JV!!!

Ok - so this is interesting.
Let’s run through what we know…
- Up will
release in 2009.
- Is likely a Pete Docter movie. (Doubly makes since
because we know Brad is doing Ratatouille/1906, Andrew is doing WALL-E, Lee is doing Toy Story 3, and John is too
busy to be doing anything)
-
A 2009 release likely means production began 2005/2006
-
We know
that Pixar recruiters were going around to animation schools in 2005/2006 enticing artists to come work on a
“Pete Docter project about monsters.”
- If this was actually announced by Disney as the article
posted suggests, then we Up is in fact planned to be the final title and not a working title - and with only 2.5
years left in production it should have at least an anticipated title by now.
So yeah, my first thought
was airplanes too but number 4 on my list makes me wonder. Perhaps it’s the story of flying heroes that battle
monsters and particularly a young one proving himself s capable? I dunno - it’s a long shot.
I was just thinking of something : is it possible that Up and
John Carter of Mars are one and the same film ?
I mean :
rumors are saying that Pete Docter is directing both movie. Am I right ? It would make no sense directing two
movies at the same time.
-
John Carter of Mars is also scheduled, according
to some rumors, in 2009.
Why do you think of that ?
Archibald - I really dought it Archibald, because as
Dash said "A 2009 release likely means production began
2005/2006." . John Carter of Mars could not be the 2009 Pixar film, because Pixar just got
the rights to JCoM.
Thanks for the info,
JV. An Adult Male?! Wow, that is pretty cool! At first I thought that meant
humans, but I guess Male in animation could be practically anything.
…very
interesting.
I just
saw this interesting information about Up on
Upcomingpixar. This
text comes from TIME :
Sounds really fun already

Ooooh! squeals
This is
so exciting!
I’ve wanted Pixar to animate humans more often as I’m a bit
sick of talking animals from every other CG company. I wonder what they will look like. The second character as
a park ranger sounds awesome. I think the sets of the forests will look great (I like walking in
forests/bush/nature). I can’t wait to see the pics from TIME magazine.
There is the problem of the
Uncanny Valley in regrds to animating the humans, which Pixar is well aware of. I’m just wondering how they will
avoid it this time, as a stylised human may not work as well as it did with The Incredibles. Just as long as they
don’t do motion-capture people with soul-less eyes, like in The Polar Express, I’m happy.
I’m guessing
that there will be scary monsters this time as opposed to the ones in Monsters, Inc.?
Anyway, this is
great news, and such a unique idea!
Not
that the others aren’t worth owning, but The Art of Up will definitley be a must
have, getting to see all the concept art of the beasts and exotic locations will be very very cool.
Aahh! I can’t wait TWO YEARS!! D8 -dies-
xD
This has got to
be the best Pixar news since who know’s when! Thank’s bawpcwpn!
I can not wait for UP! I am too excited after
reading it.

Maaaan… MORE male protagonists (not saying it’s a bad thing, but it’s overdone)?? Well,
there goes my wish that it was about heaven and angels!!
