There should’ve been (in my opinion), a reprise of “When She Loved Me” or atleast the music playing in the background at some point. Probably about where [spoil] Jessie was in the “jail cell” and is realizes that she’s lost everyone she cares about (or so it seams) [/spoil]
There is a playful reprise of “When She Loved Me” when Jessie convinces them to go to Sunnyside in the garage. It’s difficult to identify it because it’s rather happy.
If John Lasseter directed it.
If it has the midas touch like the first one did.
I would of liked to of seen Sid’s mutated toys were at the daycare (the runners of it somehow found it acceptable to have them in there)
I would have liked to see more humor. One thing I liked about the second is that it’s jokes became better as well as the scale expanding. While the emotional scale was definently raised for this movie (something that really makes it into a fantastic movie), the fewer great laughs didn’t make it feel entirely like a Toy Story movie. I absolutely love the movie, but I think it just didn’t reach the bar on that one aspect of the Toy Story series.
I kind of wish Rex had a few more lines, since he was hilarious in Toy Story 2, but I can’t complain too much. It has a more subdued sense of humor than the previous two, but it’s still a very funny movie.
True, I do think it has some incredibly funny moments, know that I think of it funnier than any of the other jokes in the past two movies, but they were more spread apart than the last two. It was more that they sacrificed some comedy for the emotion of the whole situation, which just felt kind of weird on the first viewing, after watching 1 and 2 (which were largely comedies).
When the toys arrive at Sunnyside and Rex is [spoil]surrounded by dinosaur toys[/spoil], I wish one of them said, “He’s the dominant predator!”
Since toys can cry [spoil]Big Baby proved it when he held Daisy’s locket - I would’ve wanted at least one or two of Andy’s toys to shed a tear when they held hands and rode to the fire together. Maybe someone who rarely ever showed fear or concern, like Hamn or Mr. Potato Head. I also wish in that scene that the group had pushed to at least all be in one huddle, and Bullseye had his head under Jessie’s arm.[/spoil]
Also: [spoil] once the Aliens had saved the toys from the incinerator, the gang had rushed forward to embrace them, hugging them, cheering for them. Thank you’s from each of the group, like Bullseye licking them, all of them just happy as can be together, and then a big, emotional group hug.[/spoil]
[spoil]As for a death in the film… Bo Peep would’ve been a likely candidate. Imagine - Woody flashes back to one day when Andy or Molly had Bo on the window sill, and left the room for the night. Woody just hung out with Bo on the window sill watching the sunset holding hands, but the wind somehow blew her off, and she shattered.[/spoil] That way his last memory of Bo could’ve been of them together at least.
As others and I’ve probably already said, I wish the Other Buzz had been with Zurg in the credits, and a covered-with-makeup-Prospector too. Prospector would’ve shed a tear at how warmly he was welcomed.
I also wish the Army Men had stayed with Andy’s toys throughout the film, but managed to avoid the more hazardous events of the film, like the Caterpillar room and the landfill.
Well, maybe Prospector wouldn’t have cried, but at least expressed sheer joy.
I just want there to be even MORE emotion in Toy Story 3. That way I could at least get my cold, souless and snarky cousin to cry when she watched it again.
[spoil]I always thought that Big Baby could cry because it was part of the doll’s actual working mechanism. You know, how they have drink and wet dolls and dolls that cry etc.[/spoil] I could be wrong though.
I agree, a flash back with Bo and Woody; maybe something like her being sold.
[spoil]
Although, with Woody and Buzz’s “you guarantee it?” dialogue, I’m not so sure Woody’s telling it like it is.[/spoil] -Omar
