I’m not sure if a thread was created for this short that was attached to Wreck-It Ralph yet. It’s being nominated for an Academy Award, and I think it would be deserving for a win. I really liked it. I thought it was a sweet little story with a realistic concept.
Aw, man… Paperman is such an awesome short! First of all, it’s beautifully done. Second of all, it’s such a charming story. Thirdly, it was funny as well as emotional. It’s got to be my favorite short I’ve seen all year, tied with La Luna, of course I remember being in the theater watching it and at the end I about squealed and starting thinking “I have got to get this in my collection!” when I suddenly realized that it was only the short, not the movie! And in turn to realizing that I thought “If the short’s this great, then Wreck-It Ralph is going to be just as great!” And that assumption turned out to be correct
I’ll write a longer review for this, but lemme just say that this is probably the only animated short to make me tear up near the end. I also connected with me because I felt like the male protagonist at work some days!
Paperman is amazing! I absolutely love the style it was done in. The story was amazing. And I love the music.
Let’s just say that I’ll be super disapointed if this one doesn’t catch the Oscar
Wow, I re-watched this short film on YouTube, and I fell in love with it again. I was watching the guy trying to get the girl’s attention, and by the end, I thought “Man, I wish that could happen to me!”
I’ll be getting it on Blu-Ray with Wreck-It Ralph exactly one month from today. I can’t wait, I’m so excited!
Fun fact: My mom didn’t know this would play before Wreck-It Ralph, and halfway through the short she asked me “Who directed this one?” since she’s becoming familiarized who has directed which movies and shorts. That’s when you know it’s good. Congrats, John Kahrs!
Everyone loves this short! Well, at least I haven’t heard of anyone hating it.
^The only way someone could possibly dislike Paperman is if they had something against paper. Or animation. Or love. Yeesh… I wouldn’t want to be that guy…
As you can tell by my avatar, I LOVE Paperman! <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In

It was sweet, magical and heartwarming. It was an amazing and emotional ride, and accompanied Wreck-It Ralph’s different type of perfection well. It’s one of my favorite shorts of all time, if not one of my favorite pieces of animation! I honestly can’t think of a single negative about it.
^It’s a great avatar and a terrific short.
^^Thank you!
The only complaints I’ve heard about it are:
a) It presents stalking positively (which is a stupid complaint, the guy clearly isn’t stalking her, he’s just trying to get her attention)
b) There’s not much to the characters (again, is a bit silly considering the film is like 6 minutes long)
And I’ve only seen these complaints from the kind of people who like to moan a lot.
I really liked the short. I like the style, and I think that the technology used in it might be well-utlised in future Disney films, especially when trying to mix traditional animation with CGI without making it too noticable. I hope Disney carry on making shorts like this, and maybe start to experiment a bit with different styles and stories.
I loved this short before I even saw it, haha. I had no doubts about it winning the Oscar and I’m very happy that it did.
^Yeah, I don’t consider it stalking either. What, was he waiting in her rose bushes while she slept? Did he obsessivly follow her everyday? No.
Actually when I saw this short in theatres, there was two small boys in front of me. And when the short ended said “Whuhh that was so stupid do the movie!”
And I said (only loud enough for my friend to hear me). “It’s explicative art” And when had a good little laugh.

I hate it when I go to see Pixar movies in the cinema and I hear a little murmer of confusion spread through the audience when the short begins. I can’t believes that after 13 films people still get surprised by them. Now all the Disney movies have that too I guess. I especially don’t get people who get annoyed that there’s a short at all. I mean, I can understand being anxious to see the movie, but an extra short film just makes the experience more enjoyable.
Shorts just make your money worth all the more! I think this short is super cute. I mgiht like La luna better though. idk
I know, how are people still surprised by it? I guess they don’t go to Disney films often.
That short was good.
Relatable, well done, and cute.
I like it a lot.
Ive kinda been trying to recreate the 2D drawing effect of the short too in my 3D endeavors.
Very interesting! Good luck.
