Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End

" Ahem" , actual weekend gross for you

all.

boxofficemojo.com/movies/?id … bbean3.htm

I saw it on Opening Day (well Friday really, but had I known it was viewable at 8PM Thursday,

I would have planned better).

Anyways, I LOVED it, but I won’t deny that it wasn’t the

best.

Nevertheless, I did enjoy it.

Pluses:

The Soundtrack. (Listening to the soundtrack

right now in fact) Hans Zimmer is simply amazing.
The Action Sequences
The ending – an ending which makes

me beleive there will be NO MORE PIRATE films. (Seriously, think about the ending for those who’ve seen it,

there’s references there that really get you to realize they tried to bring the the trilogy full

circle)

Bad stuff:

The length, or course. But like the book, [i]Harry Potter & the

Order of the Phoenix[/i], where are you going to cut it?? [spoil]I guess maybe the Captain

Teague stuff, but even he was enjoyable.[/spoil]

[spoil]What happened to Norrington.

Its a fanboy-thing really, but I just hated seeing him die. He was my

favorite![/spoil]

Finally, while I LOVED the multiple Jack’s, I really beleived that stuff

should have only stayed in Davy Jones’ Locker. Afterwards, it should have just been him . . . but then again .

. . .

(Sigh) I guess I’m still going through my head on that one.

But yes, I loved the film.

Again, not the best in the trilogy (I would have originally said COTBP was the best, but after seeing DMC a

couple of times and hearing the commentary, I’m starting to reconsider), but still enjoyable at the same

time.

THere are a couple things I

hate about the movie. First, the over use of bad pirate grammar made it pretty annoying and confusing. Also, the

many different conflicts and plots was hard to grasp. But what I really hated was Elizabeth. I thought she played

a better damsel in destress than a tough pirate girl.

Kiera Knightley’s acting makes me shudder. That bit when

[spoil]she basically tells all the pirates to shut up, and tells them what to do[/spoil] is

SO annoying. I honestly wanted something, some object, to magically get lodged in her throat, or someone to

accidentally shoot her or something, so that the audience wouldn’t have to put up with her for the rest of the

film. :imp:

I saw it the other night…The first Pirates flick is a favorite of mine, and this one spat in

it’s face, pure and simple. Ugh.

One moment that really wanted me to

jump out of my seat and cheer was when [spoil]Will got stabbed with a sword. I heard so many people

cry, and I wanted to stand out because I don’t like Orlando Bloom that much.[/spoil] I don’t hate

him, but it would be wierd to do.

I enjoyed it. I enjoyed it without having seen the first one! That’s right, I saw the

first one after I saw the 3rd one. And then i saw the 3rd one again with a different group of people and liked it

more because I understood it a little better. [spoil]Will getting stabbed was a bit of a

shocker[/spoil] I heard whimpering all over the place  2 of my friends and I agree that we all

felt a little sorry for Davy Jones. My cousin was also upset [spoil]that Norrington

dies[/spoil] From the general consensus of the people I talked to, it wasnt as good as the first, but

better than the second. I cant compare that as I havent seen the second yet. My best friend and I were gonna

watch it (after seeing the first) but it’s lost in the bowels of her house and she couldnt find it.

I may see it tonight if I’m lucky. It all

depends on if my little brother has homework- I wouldn’t want to drag him out of tutoring to see a film he’s

seen already =P My sister may want to see it, but she’s being downright evil lately- I may purposefully forget

to ask. :smiling_imp:

It was wierd, I always thought Norington, as

well as Becket and Jones would be the 3 main bad guys in the movie.

dragged on a bit aye

Well, it didn’t really drag. I thought it just got too confusing and the movie was a

bit wee long. But I don’t think it dragged. Everyone was in to it.

I enjoyed it, but it was a tad confusing. I feel stupid since my brother gets it. =P Maybe I just didn’t

get it 'cause I was pretty much asleep. =P But it was good. ^^

Here’s what I thought of POTC 3…it was AWESOME,to sum it up.

I just love how Jack

Sparrow and Hector Barbossa are still fighting over the Black Pearl like two little kids fighting over a toy

pirate ship. Oh wel, Boys will be Boys. :unamused:

For me: Better than the second, still can’t top the third!

Welp, I saw it last week…

Eh – it was alright.

Personally, I would rather watch Master and Commanderwaits for the gasps :stuck_out_tongue:

Although, I really did like the part…

[spoil]…where Will and Elizabeth are trying

to get married right in the middle of the huge battle sequence. :stuck_out_tongue: [/spoil]

There were

WAY too many mush scenes, though. I had to close my eyes at least three times!

(snigger)

Yeah,

I thought the movie tried a little too hard in some places, to be this fun, mushy action film.

[spoil]Then the whole thing with the guy pulling off his toe! Gosh…[/spoil]

Ha! That was hilarious… It kinda made me jump, though.

[spoil]The whole deal with the “rock crabs” made me put on the exact same,

puzzled face that Jack Sparrow wore. As intriguing as it was, I still don’t entirely get it… (snigger)

[/spoil]

Oh yeah, those things were

wierd!

[spoil]But I still don’t get it. So did he make

the crabs carry his ship to the water? Or was it just his luck?[/spoil]

Weird, indeed!

In answer to your question:

[spoil]I think

it was “just his luck”. Although, the crabs must have known something of

the apparent predicament…after they watched Jack attempting to tow his ship to the

ocean.[/spoil]

:stuck_out_tongue:

[spoil]You’ll notice they appear again - they

seem to be controlled by Tia Dalma/Calypso and I suspect she was commanding them to bring him to

them.[/spoil]
