They’re mermaids. Mermaids are (usually) depicted without shirts on, because they live under water.
This can be seen in the first trailer, actually. Also in some promotional pictures.
I may see it. I only watched the first movie and seems clips from the other’s.
Today I got surprised, All the city is full of Pirates posters and billboards, It is being promoted inmensily, just 3 more weeks of wait, come on Captain Jack, gimme more adventures

As bryan has mentioned, ‘Dead Man’s Chest’ will be airing on Channel 7 tomorrow (not sure about ‘Curse of the Black Pearl’?). Fans would do well to watch it, as there will almost definitely be a sponsor message and a couple of TV spots sprinkled throughout the ad breaks.
I’m not entirely sure what’s disgusting about the female form, unless it’s depicted in a sexual context. While there is certainly a saucy aspect to the topless nature of the mermaids in Pirates, it is not emphasized and it’s more to do with their innocence as feral beings.

I’m really excited to see this. My friend who I earlier mentioned expressed cynicism has warmed up a bit and is more of like in a ‘What the hey, it might be interesting’ mood. I can’t wait for my next assignment to be over so I can view this with a clear conscience.
