Actually, my friend and I are going to see it at midnight! We’re going to dinner then seeing it. We don’t work til 10 the next morning. So if the movie is 2 hours and a half long, and I drive home, I’ll be in bed by 3. Then I’ll wake up at 830. It’ll be soo worth it!
I haven’t told my parents, they won’t like the idea. But whatever, I’m an adult, I can go if I want.
My little brother told me that this movie got seemingly mixed reviews. But I’m gonna watch it anyways.
Except the first one, they all have mixed reviews.
yeah, that sucks, critics are bashing the film, but the great thing is that all them claims that On Stranger Tides is much more enjoyable and better than the second and third films (which I also like),
wanna know PotC:OST cinemascore’s grade
It’s already out, but now I must wait till tomorrow
Midnight premier in less then 2 hours!
It’s already out since yesterday. Not sure whether I should go see it this weekend or next, whether any of my friends are interested (they expressed mild interest a few weeks ago, but knowing how fickle-minded they are, I can’t get ‘guarantees’) and I’m debating whether to see this in IMAX 3D (at the biggest IMAX theatre in the world at Darling Harbour), VMax 3D (a large-screen format for one of my local theatre chains) or conventional 2D.
But I’m pretty certain I’m gonna see it sooner or later. I have a 10% discount for IMAX, an $8 movie voucher, and a free 2D redemption once it’s off the ‘No Free Ticket’ list (because I’ve earned enough points for my theatre loyalty programme), so I’m bound to use one of them to ‘burn’ for Pirates the 4th!
I’m somewhat nervous.
Someone of similar tastes to me in Pirates movies said I would like it, but I’m mainly concerned about some traditions I hope they don’t break.
The BIG day is HERE, May 20, Go Pirates!!!
I finally have the tickets. They really started to sell them very late this year.
SoA: I’m also nervous. I was having a chat with my best friend a few minutes ago while we were watching stupid Youtube videos, and he mentioned he has a friend in M’sia who watched it and said “it sucks”.
We then went on to IMDB and Rotten Tomatoes. It is obvious the professional critics loathe it, and the general audience love it (though I pointed out that some public voters and commenters could be studio plants).
We’re still planning to see it, though. I was hoping for Sunday, but my friend is busy, so we may be going to see it on Cheap Tuesday instead. We are planning to redeem our free tickets (he also earned enough points with the same loyalty program as I have) to watch ‘Your Highness’, and then sneak into the next showing for Pirates like we did with Thor last outing.
So, really, not a single cent of our money will be going to either films or studios! But hopefully even with it being a free viewing, Pirates will impress me enough.
I’ll use my money to support Disney when I see Cars 2 next month, if it makes any film purists feel any better.
Of course I’m not waiting for it to be a good movie, just a movie I like (which trow us back to a discussion I had a few days ago).
I don’t need it to be a great movie to feel happy about it. That’s what I’m more interested in it to keep the fandom aspects I like the most.
I’m not exactly sure what you mean by the last post. Did you mean ‘wanting’ instead of ‘waiting’? And what are you “most interested in it to keep the fandom aspects (you) like the most”? Just a little confused with your writing.
I’m going to see this with an open mind. A lot of professional critics gave up on AWE because they couldn’t be bothered to follow the plots and character interactions, which I think is a pity, because I really liked all the mind games and alliances and betrayals and stuff.
I hope, though, that OST will be a throwback to CotBP’s single-minded objective with many ‘contestants’. And of course, that the characters will charm me like they have done for the past trilogy.
Sorry. You know I “struggle” with your language, as some would say. Specially when I have a lot of things in mind.
What I mean is that, when it comes to PotC, I don’t really care if the movie is good, just if I like it. It’s just a guilty pleasure of mine.
And yes, I also think the critics didn’t give a chance to the past movies. The script is much better than they say if you pay close attention to its betrayal structure (they’re pirates, after all!) Also, the cinematography, art design, music and special effects are top notch, which can’t be said about every summer blockbuster. And of course, most of the characters are interesting, at least to me.
I only dislike a couple of cheesy moments in AWE, which is epic, anyway. About DMC, I don’t have many complaints.
I don’t care if other people thought the movie sucked.
Because I liked it and I had fun watching it, and that’s all that matters to me.
Exactly. I think it’s the kind of movie the audiences will enjoy.
I did, but I’m an old Pirates fan. The only thing I didn’t like was the breaking of a few traditions.
Hey Guys! I loved the new movie! Thought it was a great addition to the series! Here is my video review if your interested… http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sP1NSmXHHYo
Also, we are doing a Pirates Month on our channel, and we made this real fun video called, “How to be JACK SPARROW According to a 4yr Old!” Check it out, I would really appreciate what you guys think! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IFd2gWyL9jk&feature=relmfu
Thanks Again!

it didn’t live up to the past few movies, but it was simply a wild and entertaining movie, nothing more. I watch it for jack and nothing else!
As I mentioned on the Box-Office thread, I may be going to see this for free this weekend because I’m redeeming a free ticket for Hangover, then sneaking into the next theatre showing Pirates in 2D after that!
If it’s any consolation, I’ll be supporting the parent company Disney with the exorbitant IMAX ticket price when I go see Cars 2 on the world’s biggest screen.
Wow Wah wee wah! World’s biggest screen? How cool is that!
