Pixar Horror Film

Sorry if this has already been discussed but in the past I’ve tried to think of possible upcoming PIXAR films that I might like to see, and I was surprised to see actually got turned into real PIXAR films. Back in 2004, I thought that they should do a robot film (after being sorely diappointed with Robots) and in 05 when I started watching Futurama, I thought a film starring an old man would be fun to watch.

Now the last one I made on my list was that I would really like them to do something like a horror or mystery thriller film. All of their films have had elements like this in the past, but I think a straight up horror film by them might be interesting. I think one of the biggest complaints I’ve hears about these films is that it can only be scary, that there’s no emotion to them aside from screaming. This is not true. Coraline was very much a horror film, yet it still retained the same amount of courage, humor and love that PIXAR’s films have, so I don’t see why this can’t be possible. Plus, I’m not sure if this was true or not, but if Henry Selick really is working at PIXAR now, a horror or mystery thriller done by him would be perfect.

Just what I was thinking. I think if they made it relatively tame it could still work. I know plenty of little kids that enjoyed Coraline, and I wouldn’t mind Pixar doing something is a similar vein. Not all horror movies have to be blood and killers and screaming. Pixar can do it without losing the charm of PIXAR

If this happened I would probably cry tears of joy.

I don’t usually watch horror films, but Pixar could pull it off, I’m sure.

I don’t like horror films! I’m a wuss! <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/youwhaaa.gif” alt=“o_0;;” title="You

Whaaa…" />

It’d be PIXAR still so, yeah, I’m not expecting any excessive blood or gore in any of their films. But I think the goal of a truly scary film is to be scary without the unnecessary aid of those kinds of graphic elements, story should be the ultimate fear. And at PIXAR story is king.

If Pixar made a horror film it wouldn’t be a gore fest (they’re very protective of their reputation remember?) It would probably be a chiller like what was surrounding certain scenes in Toy Story 3. It may even be a shocker, but I actually wouldn’t be surprised if the former became a reality…maybe in about 5-15 years?

I’d love this. I can imagine that Pixar could handle a sort of thriller-esque film really well, with plenty of atmosphere and an intriguing backstory. Definitely my cup of tea.

Oh, a thriller? Fine. Just no Chucky-Freddie-Hellraiser bull crap. I didn’t realize you meant something interesting, I thought you meant something to the effect of The Ring( :unamused: ). Yes, a thriller would be good.

Hmmmmmmmmmm, my only question is if they were to do a horror film, I wonder what it would be about? Would they try and make it a supernatural horror film or something more real world- ish?

See, I thought a movie about Ghosts might be pretty interesting, especially if they decided to break out of the mold of “human looking ghosts”. But ghosts are already extremely popular so maybe a different kind of monster, perhaps? I dunno, I’m just pondering.

I love anything supernatural, especially involving aliens or ghosts. Both on their own cliche. How about ghost aliens? :sunglasses: Ha, no that sounds ridiculous.

They’ve done monsters and aliens in Monsters Inc and Lifted. Maybe a ghost love story along the lines of ‘The Lovely Bones’ or ‘Ghost’ would be awesome?

I’d also love them to do a political or crime thriller (set within a fictional alternate universe, like The Incredibles or Who Framed Roger Rabbit).

If any American animation studio can do a ‘serious’ adult film with mature themes (like Australia, England, Israel and France have done), it’s Pixar.

^^’ i so love Vampires but i think if Pixar did something with vampires then they would be looked down at because of the blah name vampires now have. Well to me its blah because i dont believe any of the screaming fans of Twilight are true fans at all >> it hurts that they can be so stupid to love something for the characters aparance. its true that Taylor is hot YD but i love Edward from the book because of who and what he is and how he is with Bella and everyone around him. Not because of the movie -_-
ANYway -.- id Love a horror type of film from Pixar and i’m sure they would find a way to put romance in it YD hhmmmm but i cant possibly imagine what it would be like ^^’ if there ever was one id love it even if i had never seen it YD id hope that there was at least a mention of a vampire or something but thats just me YD

I wouldn’t want to see them do that. However, some fake trailers of Pixar films with horror elements have appeared around Youtube.

:open_mouth: gasp How dare you! Well okay Chucky’s sequels, and even Hellraiser after the first one, but Freddy too?!?

"-I’m offended Kim, wounded even?"
lol jk ;-p

Sorry! I just don’t like the sequels, and can’t rent the originals. Besides, movies aren’t scary, because they’re not real. If they don’t scare me, what’s the point in trying?

the movie could be only psicological terror, ever read i have no mouth and i must scream? its about a super computer that traps 4 humans inside it , makes them inmortal and keeps torturing them for 109 years, the story haves amounts of gore, but what makes it scary is the fact that the humans will never escape from it.

Read it here under your own risk, the :

The ending is freaking brilliant

I don’t know about horror (but yes, they can easily do one in the vein of Coraline), but what I would really love would be a movie with film noir
elements.

Now, that would be perfect.

I don’t see why they couldn’t do both. An classic horror-esque film with film noir aspects. I’d totally see that.

No, I’m not ruling out the possibility of the horror.

But I do enjoy a lot those dark stories that don’t fit completely in the horror category, mostly because they’re blended with another genre, like a musical (The Phantom of the Opera or Sweeney Todd Broadway’s plays) or adventure (like Jaws and Dracula).

Among my favorite “horror blends” are those related to the detective fiction, where a crime is mistaken as a supernatural act (like in many Sherlock Holmes stories, as The Hound of the Baskervilles).

So yes, noir with horror elements would be great. And a bit of a change, as every Pixar film to date has been very colorful.

Of course, I don’t think Pixar would go as far as putting the most bloody and violent aspects of those stories, but they can keep the tension without them.

I can’t wait until Pixar announces their next projects!
