Pixar Internships 2011

Hm, ok, for the sake of not jinxing it

But I do agree with awasner, even an interview is an amazing thing; getting to talk with the best of Pixar
If I hear anything I’ll letcha know

Hey, guys!

I applied to the PUP, Post-Production, and Camera & Staging Artist Internships.

I’m finishing up my sophomore year at college. I haven’t heard back yet, but I’ll definitely let you guys know when I do!

From what I have heard from previous applicants if you don’t hear anything the first 2 weeks expect a rejection letter. Normally if they want you for a phone interview you will hear something the first week after the deadline. Not saying just because the first 2 weeks are up you didn’t get the gig but it’s highly unlikely at this point. ALthough my hopes were never high just because of all the other amazing talent I still am praying to hear something soon!

People have been contacted to interview for the PUP program.

The way you worded that joro126… it sounded so solemn when I read it that it completely made my heart drop.

Don’t be sad, they could still be in the process of contacting people.

I agree, so depressing to hear others are already getting interviewed! :frowning: Hmm, I wonder why they scatter the deadlines for different internships. Does anyone have any insight on this? Also, the post-production internship was due on March 11th, was it the same date for PUP? I wish everyone the best of luck, please do let us know your internship experiences if you hear back

I want to give some (maybe false) hope for those who have not been contacted yet; you should go back and read previous threads on here and on CGtalk;

There were a majority of people contacted on April fool’s day, or a few days after that; usually were hired/rejected by the 20th. If they are following the same timeline, then we still have another week to wait.

I am keeping my hope up until April 1, after that, I’ll start expecting a rejection letter

I think I’ll keep hoping until early next week, but best of luck to those who did get interviews. I’ve seen some of the demo reels people have submitted and they are amazing, very inspiring. : )

Hey guys,

Last year there were more than 800 applicants for the 12 spots in PUP. Because of the number of reels that they get, they will contact people once they get to your reel. I didn’t get contacted until pretty late last year (beginning of April) but some of the other PUPs were called much earlier than that.

So yes, while some people I know have gotten emails back to set up phone interviews, they’re probably not done with the huge number of reels that they received. Just cross your fingers and hope for the best.

Last year, I found out I had an interview on April 1st. Two weeks seems like a long time, but believe me, it’s possible!

I’m not even sure if Pixar recieved my application this year. I had a contact in a TD that works there, so I sent it directly to him and he said he’d hand it in for me, but I never heard back with a confirmation that he did. :frowning: He’s such a nice & attentive guy but there’s always a possibility that he went on vacation… That’s what I imagine anyway

Here’s my reel: http://katemcfadden.blogspot.com/p/demo-reel.html

I’m pretty sure he’s busy working at Pixar. My friends have been working pretty hard for the past 2 weeks.

Thats good to hear. I don’t doubt he’s working hard, thats for sure, just thought I screwed up somehow

More people confirmed on cgtalk to have been interviewed for the PUP program.

Are you all only applying to Pixar for an internship or have you applied to other companies for an internship? Apologies in advance if I end up derailing this thread.

I’m not from the USA and they aren’t many companies offering paid internship and housing to non-resident. Therefore I have only found one other company offering a similar program (Disney and technically its the same company!). And unfortunately paid internships and internships in general are pretty much nonexistent where I live and I couldn’t afford unpaid internships, gotta paid the rent!

Do they have internships at Pixar Canada?

only apprenticeships (for graduates)

I also don’t know of any companies that offer housing aside from Pixar either. I wish you the best of luck then.

Although for many of you, Pixar is your dream internship, be sure to try other places too! They’re all pretty competitive, so it’s a good expirience to work work at any studio. Animation World Network provivdes fantastic “Help Wanted” for animation.

I know that Walt Disney Animation has several internships at the moment, I suggest you guys check that out too!
