Pixar Sightings In Everyday Life

Okay, so I REALLY don’t know where to post this, so I chose the Off Topic Section. Mods, if you have a better idea, please feel free to move the topic.

So, Welcome to the Topic! Here is where we post sightings of Pixar related things at other locations besides our own homes.

Please note that there is one rule: You can not say ‘I saw a copy of ___ Movie at a place that naturally would carry them.’ For example, I can’t say “I saw 3 copies of Cars on DVD at Best Buy!” Because part of what Best Buy does is carry those. Now, if you see one on a Television, that’s okay. Same goes for video games - You have to be talking about the game store having a used copy of a game for it to count.

Here, I’ll just start us off:

Yesterday I went to the mall just to explore. I first stopped by Best Buy, I wanted to see if they had a copy of the Toy Story soundtrack in. As I was looking at the disks, I heard EVE and Wall-E in the background. Now, if any of you know me well, you’d know exactly what I did - I put down the CD and rushed to see what all the ruckus was about. Turns out it was a demonstration of Blu-Ray on loop. And even better, one isle over, a Car’s display was up. :sunglasses:

So, after Best Buy I went to Game Trader. After doing some digging I found a copy of Toy Story for the Sega Genesis. Too bad I had no cash.

This last one is rather an odd one - Months ago, My parent’s where out looking for a Futon of some sort , and we went to a Mattress place of some sort… Anyhow, we walk inside and two of the 3 Futons are in the corner of the store. We walk over… and, oh look! Stickers from Finding Nemo on the wall.

So, What about any of you? What have you sighted?

Well… the latest that I saw is a huge teaser poster of Up at the nearby cinema.

one day my brother brought home Incredibles easter stickers

I once saw The Art of Cars at a music store. :open_mouth: I don’t know what it was doing there. My brother called me all the way from there (I was looking at a Demi Lovato CD which I wound up buying) and said, “Em!!! Cars!!!” I went over and when I saw the book, I said, “I have that already,” kinda annoyed he called me over for a book I have. XD

One day last year at school in geography class. I saw a Cars pencil on the floor. I thought, “I don’t care who’s it is, I’m taking it!” and stuck my foot out in the aisle and dragged it to me. How could I resist having more Cars merchanise!

I’m sure to have more, but my brain is failing me. XD

Well, when I was in Toys’r’us last November, I saw a very big cardboard WALL•E stand-up poster advertising the DVD, in the back of the store near some boxes for recycling. So naturally I enquired about it, and was allowed to take it home. It’s very cool!

Often when I’m in a video/electronics store, they’re playing a loop advertising Blu-Ray’s, and they always show the crowd scenes in Cars.

I remember, when Monsters, Inc. first came out all that time ago, I saw a massive billboard of it next to a carpark in Southampton…I just remember looking up at that giant Randall with awe and love.

The same thing happened to me about 6 months ago. I watched the whole loop again just to make sure I wasn’t imagining the Wall-E sounds.

Other than that, about a year ago I saw somebody walking around my school with Wall-E balloons for her birthday.

I saw a Cars sticker of Chick in my school gym.

My Web Design teacher this year has a Cars poster in his classroom.

Me and one of my freinds talk about movies a lot, and Disney / Pixar movies come up every once in a while.

I know I have tons more, but nothing specific comes to mind right now.

Everyday life? Like when I went to Chicago’s Field Museum (or was it Science and Industry?) and they had a few TVs going with Pixar shorts? I got all excited to see Luxo Jr but my fam really couldnt care less. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, I was on the bus the other day and there was this big guy talking very loudly (quite the outspoken fellow). He was chatting with a fellow passenger (I assume his family member or gfriend) and he sounded like an uber-nerd (so he’s harmless), talking about the “Nebuchadnezzar from Terminator 2” (think he meant The Matrix Reloaded) and Metal Gear Solid and whatnot.

Wait, I’m getting to the Pixar reference… so he was blabbering away while other passengers could listen in on his conversation when suddenly there was a hissing sound emanating from the bus, almost like a screech. It sounded like a tire burst or something and was being dragged along the road. The guy paused, then remarked to his companion something along the lines of:

Uber nerd: “Have you guys seen Up?”
Lady friend: Indiscernible reply
Uber nerd: “Haha, cos’ that sounds like that kid being dragged across the window, you know?” Makes similar screeching noise

Needless to say, the random Pixar reference amused me somewhat. Oh, and the bus stopped making “Russell sliding across the windscreen” noises after a while.

Well, I went to Kinokuniya last Sunday and guess what did I see.

The Art of Up!!! Yeah, but it’s on the ‘special order’ shelves. Wow, it’s kinda deja vu, it is placed at the exact place where I took it home 3 months ago.

Pixarpedia!!! I dunno who it belongs to, but the staff said that nobody yet claim the book. After a month, I hope the book would be mine. It’s their policy to get 'em from the special shelves if nobody claim it.

Today at school, I saw a girl in the halls wearing a Toy Story shirt! (In honor of the double feature maybe?) I knew she was an upperclassmen for she didn’t look younger than me, and I know she’s not in my grade. I was shocked. I thought my school was full of Pixar haters! (or at least no one who’s a die-hard fan like me) But she’s not in any of my classes, and I had to get to class, so I couldn’t stop and chat with her.

Today I saw quite possibly the only Up billboard in the whole of Sydney. It’s on one of the rooftops in Camperdown. I’m kicking myself for not bringing my camera, but Sydneysiders can try to catch it before it turnovers.

And yesterday night’s episode of Rush (it’s past midnight here) had an Up poster appearance!

You can watch it online at the official site, under the Season 2 Episode 13 part 2 video. Keep your eyes peeled around the time the kid throws up on the pavement at 7:03 (Ew, gross…! :stuck_out_tongue:). Seems like the episode was filmed sometime recently.

Today in the mail my family got personalized Disney stickers. Among the Mickeys and Tiggers and Tinker Bells were Dory, Marlin, and EVE.

I also saw a screenshot of Up, Finding Nemo, WALL-E, and Cars blended with other Disney screenshots for a creative binder cover…(actually, I made it myself on Microsoft Powerpoint.) Does that count, though? Hm, probably not. Oh, well.

Actually my college was showing UP yesterday. How they managed to swing that before its released i dont know. I didnt get to watch it, as I had work to do

Whoa, wait, what?! That’s insane! If my college had an Up showing, it’d be ALLLLLL OVER that. Hehe, seriously.

Not necessarily a Pixar sighting, but I have an amusing story. I re-reinsisted that my English Composition professor should go see Up, and he replies with “Do you get paid to promote that movie or something?” Haha! Tickled me a bit.

ffdude1906: Hahaha, I get the same response with Pixar films in general.

I was at the store the other day and saw a Cars Pinata and Cars Branded Crackers.

I thought about seeing it. They had 4 showings, 3 of which I was not there for, and the other one, like I said, I had a project to work on. Had I nothing to do, I would have gone to see it. I’m still trying to figure out how they got it!

I just figured this out today, but on October 16, my school is having a renaissance rally (a rally promoting good grades) and the theme of the rally is Pixar! My graduating class has the theme of The Incredibles. It’s weird to me, because I’m applying for an award called “The Top Dog” award, and if I win it, I’ll be honored at the rally. What are the odds that it just happens to be at the Pixar rally?

I wish I was going to that school, seriously. That’s totally wicked! You’ll have to get video or photos or something, I wanna see that!

Man, why doesn’t my school do any cool Pixar stuff (well, we did do The Incredibles for my halftime show my Junior year, so I haven’t been totally excluded)

That sounds so cool, mo! I’m with ffdude1906, I’d love to see some photos of the event. Your school is amazing!
