East Coast normally finished in April with Graduation in May. At least the Carolina’s does. I was May 5th graduation. They normally start back the last week in August for classes.
Yeah I guess it isn’t that early. My last week is next week, so not much later.
Hi Everybody,
I’m another one who has been following this thread pretty closely, and think it’s time to chip in. Mbblackbelt, I applied for animation as well. I’ve never done CG and only have a year’s worth of animation experience, so I think my chances are a bit slim, but hey, why not? Also, in regards to all the speculation about hearing back, animation also closed on April 6th and I think my application was reviewed a few days ago, so that might figure into the larger picture.
Also, just wanted to say that based solely on this thread, you all seem like lovely and supportive people. Thanks for making this forum so positive.
The thing is we don’t know if the updates mean anything or not. I am curious as if it does. I am glad you find the thread helpful and please if you have your reel please feel free to show it. I love seeing everyone’s work. It is wonderful that everyone is sharing. I really don’t know how to gage everything unless they are going in order of closing and some departments are taking a look when they can at some applicants. I like I have said a lot of times already. I submitted on the 6th of March and was updated the 12th of that same month. I don’t know if they looked at some people ahead of time or as they came in. If the update is an indicator of anything.
Kev wasn’t updated till they called from what he said. I just hope its for a good reason they are updated and that people on here are going to get a possibility at the internships. Right now this is mostly unknown after PUP since it has gone silent from the 23rd. Most of us are speculating what is going on. Since Friday is around the corner that is our last day this week we might get a chance to hear back till monday. From what we know sometimes it seems they work a little over time or get back on the task on Sunday. I don’t know if they are pulling some over time in for this or not. I would think they might due to the 3 week turn around on PUP.
Just keep yourselves positive and I think we will hear soon! Just think good thoughts!!!
A little off topic here, but how’s the weather in Emeryville during the summer? I’ve lived on an island all my life so I never get to really experience the cold. Hawaii gets as hot as 80-90 degrees F during the summer. The coldest I experienced is around 50 degrees F.
I’ve visited San Diego during the fall, and to me it was very very cold. To my relatives who live there, however, said it was HOT. Haha like woah, what? So, HOPEFULLY, if by some chance they happen to call me, BY SOME MAGICAL, WIZARDRY CHANCE that i do make it, , how’s the weather over there?
So much speculation! It’s kind of fun. Also oddly soothing.
Right, my work. I guess it’s only fair that I share mine as well. Here’s my vimeo account:

Katguu–I’m from the east bay area, about 20 minutes from Emeryville. The summers in Northern California are generally pretty warm, usually between 70 and 90, but since Emeryville is on the other side of the hills, and closer to the ocean, it is a bit cooler, especially at night. So you’d probably be feeling cold some of the time. But don’t worry, I go to school on the east coast, and the change in weather isn’t a problem at all. You are probably more adaptable than you think!
katguu: You might want to bring a sweater. Hawaii has warmer air. San Francisco, right next to Emeryville, will be colder in it’s 80-90 degrees. It’s normal temperatures for the carolinas and virginia. I don’t know if it is humid there or more mild heat. I do know its one of the best weather places. It does rain a fair bit because it is by the ocean and it is the summer time. It tends to have the equal amount of storms as the southern east coast.
If you get in and pack a few light jackets and sweaters you should be fine. Don’t pack all that that though. You might eventually get used to some of the weather in that time and if you don’t pack normal summer cloths you might regret it or have to guy shopping for lighter cloths.
Emne: Thank for sharing. I would hope its not humid weather like Charleston, SC or Savannah, GA. Oh my is it a sauna down there. I love what my friends do when it rains to much in Charleston… They take canoe down the straights because it sometimes floods them. XD
Little to no humidity; it is a very dry heat.
I’m going to be loving it up! I am not of humidity out here.
Btw I love your videos :3
This week has been really quiet… I wonder if May is going to be the big call back time.
hmm, I see… sent my application in on the same day since i spent 2 weeks since finding out about it working on resume and cover letter
@sirlupton, I don’t think it’s super early. I do go to school on the East Coast (RVA) though so maybe we just get out early compared to other schools? And I still have exams next week. Two art projects and my final animation project (which I am STRESSING about btw, my professor is impossible to please)along with a comparative analysis English Lit paper. You know, between work and all that.
Katguu: Hawaii is beautiful! I wish I could visit there but flying is so expensive to anywhere right now.
What does everyone think of the college jokes in Monsters University? It makes me miss my friends. I love them!
Pa1ntingpics: I love English… But Ew sometimes those papers depending on the teachers are not fun. Good luck on the exams!!! May you pass them all with flying colors!
So I was searching tumblr and Disney is really being a monster at Epcot.
XD

Mike and Sully took over Epcot tee hee!!
@Littletomo, yeah Hawaii is pretty cool. I’ve been living there for 6 years now (?) so i’m used to all the mountains and greenery. I live on Oahu, btw. Although I am used to everything, now and then I just stop and appreciate the view because it really is amazing. I live on the west part of oahu. and that place is like a freaking DESERT. Haha i think its biome is categorized as tropical desert. XD There’s not much going on where I live but on occasions, me and friends take drives to the northern/north eastern part of the island and that’s where all the magic is at. Great beaches, older looking buildings, lots and lots of forests. It just screams FRESH. Then when your done with your ATI (Around The Island) trip, it’s great to spend the night in the city, Honolulu, to just relax. There’s a lot to see there, too.
It’s pretty chill here. I hear from a lot of people that people who live on Hawaii are a lot nicer than people from the mainland but I don’t really believe them. Majority of the time, people here are nice, but we do have our share of assholes. It may surprise a lot tourist on how UNfriendly Hawaii really is. You gotta get past the dramaqueen locals, the obnoxious tourist, and the uptight, snobby asians (which probably takes up about 30/40% of the population). bleh. Then you have the good few. people like me. ;D
oops, sorry. blabbing about where i live. haha i didn’t even ask if you’ve gone there once or not.
you might’ve already known the place yourself XD
whenever someone talks about hawaii, it’s like my default thing to do to explain every aspect of it as if i’m selling it lol.
it’s just majority of the time, people want to know what it’s like to live there XD
Katguu: I have never been so thank you for that! I really want to visit there one day. The people are more than likely nicer because most places on the mainland are fast pace in nature. To me It sounds like the island version of Costa Rica with a twist. I would more than likely enjoy it.
Thank you for sharing!
Here comes yet another weekend…
Yep! I am guessing no one heard back.
