Teabat Woah… that’s super weird! Are you using Premium or their regular version?
I can’t stop refreshing my email!
Regular version.
Hi everyone!
I’ve been stalking this page since January and finally decided to join! I applied for 4 internships at Pixar this Summer: Marketing, Publicity, HR and HR Pixar University.
I hope to hear back soon. The waiting game is no fun!
My friend invited me to tour the Pixar campus next week so hopefully if becomes a reality for Summer!
Ok guys, I’m sad to say I’ve recieved my rejection letter for the Story Internship (didn’t we have another week to update our portfolios???)
Do you guys know if they’ll reject a candidate because such candidate requires a visa? I hope that wasn’t the case…
Anyway, I’ll try again next year
I’ll work harder next time
Good luck guys!! It was great fun eduring the wait with y’all
Hey fellow animators!!! I’m a first time applicant to this and I was wondering if anyone has had an update on theirs? ![]()
@ToyStoryShark I’m fairly sure that I remember international students making it into the internship before as well as some students dropping out due to visa issues.
Hi everyone! I’m new to this forum.
I also just got my rejection letter for the story internship and I, too, thought we had until May 1.
Also, I didn’t get any views on my portfolio so that’s weird. Because it looks like my portfolio wasn’t looked at, I wonder if it is because of visas because I would also require a visa sponsorship. Maybe they filter out applicants who would require visa sponsorship?
Well, GOOD LUCK to those who haven’t been rejected yet! ![]()
I don’t think the visa thing applied to it. I received one as well and I live in the US. It came sooner then I expected since I also believed we had to the 1st.
I and another friend recieved our rejection as well.
But never give up, never surrender, right?
@ThirdChildArt
Agreed! I read the email and picked up my pen and kept working on the board I’m currently trying to finish. Gotta keep pushing forward!
Also received my rejection letter ![]()
Haven’t received one for the production one though so that’s positive… right?
I also needed a VISA sponsorship, but since I’m from Australia it shouldn’t be too hard to get one. Maybe that did have something to do with it
Sorry about not getting in this year guys, but there’s always next year! I don’t think visas are an issue or else they would have noted it on their website. It’d be really mean to give people false hope if they knew they couldn’t take international students ahead of time.
A pixar recruiter told me that they go through cover letters and resumes first. If you pass that, they look at your portfolio. Hopefully that helps…
Also, for animation interns, last year they didn’t call people until early may, so more waiting time
It’s probably more or less the same. The recruiters take a look at your resume and cover letter and if you make it past them, your resume gets passed to the specific individuals in charge of the department you applied for.
Hey Guys,
Really sorry to hear about the rejection emails.
I just received an email from someone in HR asking me to send over a hard copy of my story portfolio.
Seems like this is a technical stage, where people who require work visas are rejected.
So those of you who aren’t eligible, don’t be bummed…I believe this is more of a technical requirement and has nothing to do with your story skills.
I live in Europe, but am an american citizen… so I guess that helped me pass the first stage.
Strange that they would ask for a hard copy though… I guess it’s easier for them to review more than one portfolio at once.
Did anyone else receive a request for a hard copy?
Thanks and best of luck to everyone still in the running.
@YeeItzNicki So they do it in rounds kinda thing? Pass the people they want then go over the group again, eliminate the people on the bottom, then repeat?
Congrats Storyguy! Good Luck! And I’m sorry to those already eliminated. I’ve been eliminated from production already, but you got to keep going, keep on swimming! <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In

@Teabat Yeah exactly. You might get rejected just based on your resume and they would never see your portfolio. That’s why cover letters are so important, because it’s the first hurdle you have to get over.
Btw, I’m basing all of this on talks with recruiters, people I’ve meet in the industry, and also some stuff I learned at my internship at DreamWorks. I could be totally wrong, but the way companies recruit are pretty similar. ![]()
I would hope that the first round of the reviews is not based on the cover letter and resume alone… it would seem strange to reject people based on that alone and not on actual storyboarding skills.
I did see a view on my portfolio yesterday, and my status was updated, so maybe HR also knows some basic stuff about storyboarding? I dunno… either way keep swimming everyone… even if I don’t pass the next stage I will continue trying. There are a thousand ways to get into pixar and the industry in general… we just have to work hard and be consistent about it.
Good luck everyone!
From what I understand, the resume and cover letter stage is just to make sure you’re eligible and also that you’re not crazy haha. Also, I do believe HR does look at portfolios as well.
Again, I might totally be wrong. I just wanted to share with you guys some stuff that I know from past experiences. Take everything I say with a grain of salt.
Thanks guys, you make waiting more bearable. Good luck to all of you!
