Happy week 6 guys!

Happy week 6 guys!
I’m surprised it has been so quiet lately. It seems like in previous years, around this time, there were all sorts of happenings. The silence is unnerving this year XD
Hey guys! New to the group but I’ve been following the thread for a few weeks. I applied to the Pixar Undergraduate Program on February 18th, and my login to Pixar says that my application was last updated March 24th. I still have not heard anything back. Will they let me know if I get it or not? Or is the long wait their way of saying no haha?
Water From my experience of previous rounds of applications: they won’t send a rejection e-mail when the position has been filled. The only time I’ve received an individual e-mail is when they closed the Art Internship last summer due to production schedule conflicts. Here’s a copy & paste from their e-mail that I’ve found true.
Because of the high volume of resumes, demo reels and portfolios we receive, we are unable to respond to applicants individually (as much as we’d like to!) or to provide feedback. If you do not hear from us, we invite you to re-apply in the future if another position of interest is posted.
Best of luck, regardless!
Huh, really? In previous years when I have been rejected/position filled, I have ALWAYS gotten an email back saying so.
Hey Guys
Wow, for some reason I stopped receiving notifications from the thread!
I had no idea so much happened, and I was like - wow, that’s so strange.
Even when I posted my last post, I didn’t notice there was an entire discussion going on.
Anyway, really happy to hear about the phone interviews! good luck to everybody!
And for all of you story applicants, I haven’t seen any updates on my status since march 1st.
This really is nerve-wrecking…sigh
Happy to see all the new faces! best thread ever!
Happy week six to all!
and don’t forget that the system will probably be going down this weekend.
Oh man, you’re right, second Sunday!!
I also have NOT recieved rejection e-mails from Pixar in the past. I applied for pups in 2011 and story in 2012, 2013.
Huh. On past summer intern boards on this site, other users mention getting “no” emails (So I know I’m not crazy XD). Maybe there are just so many applicants there are errors and not everyone gets one?
Hey guys,
I’m finally coming out of the shadows to talk to you guys,
. Anyways, last year applied for the animation internship and I got the rejection letter on May 15th.
I have heard from people that they start calling people who get the animation internship early May. So, those who applied for animation don’t have to stress out just yet. =)
Also, @shawnishere, to answer your question… last fall I got a reel review session with a Pixar recruiter during a school visit and I asked about how much time I had to update my reel after the March deadline before they’d see it (since I am also constantly updating) and they told me that they pretty much go through it right away. They get a lot of applicants though so it takes them a while (which explains hearing back in May). I’d say you probably had maybe 2 weeks to be safe… but ANYWAYS, i don’t think it hurts to keep updating your reel. Why not? right? haha
I’m also having problems with the notification system for the forum…
Anyways, I think it would be optimistic to expect news throughout this month, does anybody know how many people apply for the different internships? Is it in the thousands or the hundreds?
Shark I forgot if I heard this number from an employee, recruiter, or at a presentation, but the estimate I’ve gotten is in the thousands for certain positions. I calculated the acceptance rate once though I’ve forgotten the raw data, and I got 0.08%. This is all from what I can recall, so I can’t report on the accuracy.
My professors have always said in the thousands. 9,000 was the number they threw around the most but I don’t know how accurate that is. Split over all the departments it’s probably around 1000 applicants give or take a few hundred for each position.
Andrea have you had your second interview yet? ![]()
Well I hope they give people at least a month’s notice!
It would be very awkward to quit my job without due notice!!
(not that im planning on getting accepted…) ![]()

Strange that some haven’t received rejection emails in the past. I have gotten one for every time I have applied. Last year I got it really quickly, like the second week or something, while a friend got his on the 6th week. For this reason I try not to think to much of when I’ll hear back.
Man… it’s probably chaos up there with all the applications.
This is the second time I apply, the first time was way back in 2008 and you had to send a physical portfolio, going through applications must have been crazy with thousands of physical portfolios lying around.
Ahh, thanks for the numbers, Thirdchild! The number I was given was 8,000, and I had it in my head that it was per position versus total applications (still trying to figure out my original math). So, using what little I remember from Statistics, 0.44% acceptance rate.
Man, these numbers are bringing me down. >_> I much more preferred the hopeful ignorance. ![]()
Teabat it’s on Friday! ![]()
