I’ve been thinking a lot about Pixars upcoming films. To me, I’m not appealed to Toy Story 3 much, or Cars 2. And for some very strange reason, Up isn’t having me on the tip of my toes (yet). What I am looking forward to is Newt. The description of it sounds so entertaining (pixar.wikia.com/wiki/Newt), and possibly emotional. Hopefully they make it so adults get it more than kids, like in WALL-E’s emotional scenes.
I found a screen shot of a, um, I dunno; but it’s interesting. Take a look.
Also, they had to push it back, which makes me feel even more better about it. The reason; because it gives them more time to make it better, So, these were my thoughts, how about you guys?
Newt is definitely a Pixar film I’m looking forward to, too. It sounds so sweet, and so Pixar-ish. Nice find on that photo, EVEisawesome! I find it interesting that [spoil]they’re so exacting on the angles used in the design and movement of the newt. And doesn’t he just look adorable?[/spoil]
Aww, I thought we were going to get a new screenshot… D=
But that screenshot is really funny. I love how [spoil]serious the lizard on the chart looks while doing the silly dance moves.[/spoil] At first I thought it was a photo of a poster, until I realised it was an actual screenshot from the movie.
lizardgirl - This movie was MADE just for you, look at the main characters - they’re lizards! I find the characters more endearing than Randall, though… Hey, don’t hit me!
Woa…really? I never even thought of that possibility. I thought it was a chart with concept art and ideas. And I never noticed that the coffee maker is actually in the picture. Don’t know how I missed that one, haha.
I’m also really looking forward to this film. Probably more than all the others we know of so far. I just really like the story, probably because it reminds me a little bit of WALL-E. [spoil]Pixar+romance=epic win[/spoil] (Even though I know it won’t be as good as WALL-E) But I might end up liking another upcoming film better.
EDIT I don’t think it’s a screenshot. It looks like a projection of the set up in the bottom left corner of the picture. Do you mean the poster itself?
I think it’s just a picture showing what he will do, Anyways, yes.
Lately I’ve been obsessed with anthropomorphizing animals and robots, especially after watching movies with them. Hopefully ‘Newt’ will contain a vast variety of pantomimic expressions, being completely without dialog; however, if not, that’s alright. I think I’m just tired of movies with humans in them, because I deal with human emotions everyday. Movies like WALL-E make you feel more attached for the main characters because of this. Hopefully, Newt will be the same.
Knowing Pixar, and the fact that they needed more time to make this movie (more time= better product), it should be very good and [hopefully] emotionally attaching.
Rachel- I’m going to be really pedantic now, but newts are slightly different to lizards, in that they’re amphibians as opposed to reptiles, and I really don’t like amphibians.
Darn you Pixar! So close, yet so far!
And on the same line, I hope Pixar aren’t stupid and make the newts crawl around in trees or something. They’re amphibians, and so they need to be by or in water almost all the time, but everything I’ve heard about Newt so far sort of makes it sound like it’s going to be set in a forest or something, which is wrong. We’ll see- I’m sure Pixar will get it right, since they’re very pedantic about these things.
Oh, and hits Rachel. Sorry, it’s an automatic reflex.
EDIT: Only just realised that that photo of the Newt thing is actually a [spoil]male mating dance, heh. Oh, and it’s set in a laboratory, not a forest or anything, so it’s okay. about the whole amphibian thing now. [/spoil]
Killer123- [spoil]The phrase ‘mesmerises female’ is one of the captions on the thing posted at the top of this thread. The text is quite small, but if you look closely, you can see it.[/spoil]
I don’t think we need to worry too much. Pixar is probably going to hire every newt specialist in the country to make sure it’s as scientifically correct as possible.
I’m actually pretty interested in this one. It’s about time Pixar goes back to their old glory methods; none of those fancy story lines which that seven year old in the front row of the cinema doesn’t understand an inch of.
The coffee machine’s really starting to bug me. What the heck is behind it??!?!!?! Seriously. Anyone know if that’s some stupid adult joke not yet revealed? Anyway, I’m really looking forward to this movie. After all, every single movie Pixar has made so far is AWESOME. So this most likely will be too!

I suspect there is a reason why it is not shown. It’s a newt mating dance, and more often than not, I believe, animal mating dances can end in, well, mating.
Anyway, we’ll all just have to wait to find out more, but I still think that that may not be revealed, at least not before the movie.
Hahaha! That picture made me laugh! Seeing those doodles and the end pic with the coffee pot hiding it?? My crazy mind could only imagine what was behind that!
The first time I heard of the plot for Newt I fell in love, I mean it seems so funny yet can be serious romantic and exciting.
I don’t know, guess like most of you here it just seems like the movie is going to be so loveable and fun. I have been keeping track of Newt since I first heard of it, and I will keep up until I will be able to see in the theater! The story is so Pixar and I love it!
Step 7 says: Cartwheel prelude to final poses, mesmerizes female. Step 8 says: Male hops towards final flourish pose to entice female with grandiose posturing.
Does anyone know who the guy presenting this is? Does he work for Pixar?
I thought so too so I checked wikipedia for more info and well the mating process of the newts are more like [spoil]fishes.[/spoil]
Quote from wikipedia (I guess it can be a bit of a spoiler, haha)
[spoil]After courtship rituals of varying complexity, which take place in ponds or slow moving streams, the eggs are fertilised outside the female’s body.[/spoil]
