Hey guys, just need to remind you all that it’s against the rules during Awards time to talk about your potential nominees or nominations out loud. Please be as quiet as possible about your choices, as it’s not fair play to talk about it openly. Disqualification could occur as a result, so please watch what you post!
Miss Carrera: The awards are already underway. Right now we’re only opening the For Your Consideration thread, where you can post some of your work to be considered for nomination. However, please read the rules very carefully. Promoting your work for consideration is fine, but asking for votes is an absolute no-no, so make sure you’re familiar with the rules before diving headfirst into the event!
Yup, that’s perfectly fine. You guys are free to talk about the awards all you want, but again, try to be as secretive as possible about who you’ll be nominating or voting for, and please refrain from soliciting votes in any way - meaning, don’t try to get people to vote for you or you may be disqualified. For Your Consideration posts in the appropriate thread, or FYC graphics are fine.
Hey everyone. It’s been a long time. So much has happened in my two month absence. I don’t know why I left. Especially in the wake of Steve Jobs’s death, I should have been here more, but I just let it sit in my bookmark bar for two months unclicked. But I just decided to come here today. Heck I may even stick around for a while. So I’m back. For now.
I don’t mean to keep popping in your thread guys, but Pixarfan mentioned that after the awards last year, he told people who he voted for in a PM. I would strongly suggest not even doing that, not because it’s against the rules or anything, but for fun’s sake! I know the awards will be over, but the whole fun of the awards is the excitement and mystery of the nominating and voting! It kind of defeats that excitement if you tell people who you voted for afterwards, you know? I mean this isn’t to say NO YOU CAN’T DO THAT, but I guess I would just… strongly urge everyone to keep their votes to themselves, if at all possible after the awards. It’s just more fun not knowing, I think.
Oh no, that’s not what I meant, Pixarfan! D: As I said multiple times, “for your consideration” stuff is fine. If there was a problem with your sig, we would have told you. I just meant, saying who you’ll be voting for or nominating is against the rules, and so is telling people to vote for you. Simply putting yourself out there for consideration is all good.
It’d be like during an election. If you were buying people’s votes, or telling them to vote for you as they were going into the voting booth, that would be wrong. But putting yourself out there, campaigning and showing people what you offer so they can make the decision to vote for you on their own, that’s what it’s all about. Ultimately it’s up to the voter, but in the meantime all you can do is showcase your work or accomplishments, so people will see you as the ideal candidate. I hope that makes more sense.
Sorry for the confusion! I don’t mean to make this difficult for you guys or confusing, but as a host I need to make sure everyone is well acquainted with the rules, that’s all! I’d hate to see anyone get disqualified.
He sent me a message and said I’m not aload to make a sig like that. But here’s what I don’t get. LAST YEAR we did, I remember members making sigs like mine, I made some too. So I guess he changed the rule or he forgot that were aload too. I’m disapointed because I made that sig for nothing now.
Oh, whoops!! I’m sorry, he didn’t tell me it wasn’t allowed. D: Well, I’m really sorry you had to get rid of your other signature, but I suppose if he says so, then that’s the way it is. Maybe it’s because we post our “FYC” stuff in the thread, and so if we want people to consider us, they’ll have to look there instead? I’m not sure but he never told me that was against the rules either, so it comes as a shock to me, too. xD I just feel like I’m making everything 10x more confusing, I’m so sorry!! D:
