Pixarteers Thread!

That sucks. You can’t have 4th of July without fireworks. It’s the perfect ending. :sunglasses:

Sally&stickers: Ohmygosh, how was your trip? Thank you, thank you. Teehee, I admit it is kind of cool. I used to hate it though. Where do you live where it’s 100 degrees? It’s about 90 down here. :sunglasses:

Sally&stickers, that’s awesome, I’m so jealous of you! Summer of next year I am planning to get a few friends together and take a road trip down the remnants of Route 66. We’re going to drive to Chicago and then take the whole thing down to California to visit Cars Land. Maybe even the Pixar Campus in Emeryville if we can think of a way to get an invite in!

I had a pretty boring 4th. I did some homework and watched a Histyrt Channel show called The Revoluion.

As for the 100* weather, I hate it, it’s just like last summer so far, I hope this dosen’t mean another warm winter, that would mean a lot of ticks for next summer again.

the Trip was awesome!! got to see a bunch of the buildings that inspired Radiator Springs buildings! and some of the people too! plus on my first trip through Oklahoma we missed the 3" hail… which was good (we don’t get hail like that where im from) we only went from St. Louis to Needles, Cali. because that was all the time we had, and it was only the week before Carsland opened! so there were a bunch of old cars going toward Cali, and all the people we met who inspired Characters were telling us that they were leaving at the end of the week for Disneyland.

as for the heat, it was about 100 degrees (and by “about” i mean over 100 degrees) for over a week, it wasn’t a record, but it wasn’t normal either, and it was awful, but its cooled back off to the 80’s-90’s now (and its only 72 where i am today! but it rained literally all day yesterday) i just hope the heat is gone for a while now, like years, i want some snow!!

That all sounds awesome! Who did you meet that inspired which characters? You should put up some pictures!

i met the lady who inspired Sally, she owns the Rock Cafe in Stroud, Oklahoma and we got there about 60 seconds before the lunch rush, so she was there and we got to talk to her, it was awesome! she told us that the Pixar and Disney (Disney because of Cars Land) people come by whenever their in the area, including John Lasseter comes by when he drives his kids to college in Florida (apparently along Rt 66) she even has a letter from Pixar proving that she IS Sally, and a signed poster hanging on the wall.

i went to the place where the person who inspired Flo (Midpoint Cafe) works, she used to own it, but she’s getting older so she sold it, but she still works there sometimes, and she still owns the gas station next door but she had just gone home for the afternoon when we went through Adrien, Texas, but we talked to the guy who now owns the Midpoint Cafe and got some pie, even though we got there at 2:59 and the place closes at 3

when we were going through Galena, Kansas, we stopped at this place called 4 Women on the Route and they had Mater parked out front! the real Mater, the one Pixar saw when they came through town, and the guy who (i think) inspired Mater’s personality stops by there every day, but he had just left when we got there, he can turn both his feet around backwards (il try to find a picture)

im going to go try to find pictures online now, because i can’t get them from my computer to here…

ok, if you want more information than i can give you, go to outpostusa.org/R66.html we are working on getting it all updated, but as you can imagine, it takes a while…

but here are some pictures of cars related buildings, or the buildings where you can (if you have the right timing) see the people who inspired Characters, or if you are REALLY REALLY lucky, see the Pixar people themselves (i don’t know when, don’t ask, i just know they still visit their friends on Rt 66) the pictures are under spoilers because of size, i don’t know how big they are

The Rock Cafe, Stroud, Oklahoma, this is where Sally (the lady’s name is Dawn) works, she owns the place and is around at rush times, the walls are decorated with Pixar stuff (signed by Pixar people) and stuff they pulled out of the building after a fire in (i think) 2011, if you ask Dawn about Cars she’ll tell you about when Pixar came by and spent 6 hours after closing talking to her and how they visit whenever their around

this is 4 Women on the Route, with Mater (or Tater, as he’s now named) sitting out front, and yes, he still runs, this is also where you can meet the guy who inspired Mater, we didn’t see him, but he only left the place about 5 min before we got there. If you stop, you also have to go see talk to whoever is inside, we talked to Melba, and they’ll tell you what else in town inspired Cars scenes, plus some town history and funny stories. If they don’t tell you the Mater/Tater (the truck outside) story, ask about it, its pretty cool too.

i can’t find a picture of the guy who can turn his feet backwards, but il keep looking

this is the Midpoint Cafe, in Adrien, Texas Flo used to own the place, but she sold it recently, though she still owns the gas station net door, and she works at the cafe sometimes if they need an extra set of hands. Even if you don’t see her when you stop, still get a piece of pie and take a picture at the Midpoint of Rt 66 sign across the street. Get there early though, it closes at 3, though if you get there at 2:59 you can still get pie, we did  and we talked to the owner for an hour, plus he will make sure you have a reservation for wherever you are staying that night, especially the Blue Swallow Motel.

ok, thats enough for now, il post more later though, and i think next will be the buildings and other stuff that went right from Rt 66 to Radiator Springs

I can’t describe how cool all that is! :sunglasses: There’s not many movies where you can go see things like that. If I ever end up on Route 66, I’ll definitely stop by those places. I love Sheriff, Lightning, and Sally outside of the cafe, lol.

I agree, that is totally cool!! Lol yeah, I love how Dawn especially is really enthusiastic about it, with showcasing all the Pixar stuff and whatnot. I would want to do that too!

This thread has pretty much died again…

Sooooo…Finding Nemo 2?

I hope the rumours aren’t true, but after seeing the first half of John Carter, I wouldn’t be surprised if it is.

I said on the Finding Nemo 2 topic that I may not see it. Supporting their sequels will only encourage them. Some of the members here who only thought it as okay saw it twice! That dosen’t make much sense.

Not true. Andrew Stanton tweeted on it about a week ago saying it was a rumor… Thank God. I would not want a Finding Nemo 2. No matter how amazing the first one is. <3

!

Welcome back, it’s nice to see you, I’m fine, I hope you get to see Brave sometime soon.

Who has been watching the Olympics? Phelps is new the all time medal holder. The woman’s gymnastics won gold for the first time since 1996. Hope we get a lot more.

Go Team USA! Go luck to the other teams.

I have. It’s been really exciting and honestly, probably one of the best Olympics yet.

I’ve been watching the Tennis (being a tennis fanatic), but I’ve also watched a little bit of some other sports.

Love your new Signature Pixarfan91!! (Well, not actually sure how old it is. i haven’t been on in ages) Yeah, my Best friend Alice lives in England and went to watch some of the events, personally, i enjoy fencing, archery, judo, diving and gymnastics. im kind of dissapointed in Australia… (We are coming 19th! :frowning: ) USA has finally claimed first. Keep it up USA! Im supporting Australia, Great Britain, Italy, Germany and USA. Ok… im shutting up now…

I mainly watch track, gymnastics, swimming, equestrian, and volleyball. But I basically watch whatever I catch. I’m going for USA, Jamaica,… and Argentina a little bit. o_0
