Even though I knew that the voice was Jon Cryer, it sounded a lot like Dave Foley at first too! I bet it will still be a good film, I want have any prejudices going into the movie. You never know, this could be The Tigger Movie-status, at least with Cars fans! (I think it will be ).
I would rather have Jon Cryer than Dane Cook. Dane Cook is the worst. He is an unfunny, misogynist, unfunny comedian. At least Jon Cryer is somewhat credible. Dane Cook just stinks.
Oh, ok.
I’m just not familiar with Dane Cook, so I can’t really say if he’s better.
I do know I don’t like Jon Cryer, that’s all.
I’d’ve preferred Jon Cryer to Dane Cook… Dane Cook is pretty tasteless. I suppose he’s only providing a voice though. Still… kind of a weird choice, really. I mean, if you want an obligatory ‘celebrity’ voice, he’s not exactly an obvious choice. I don’t think he’s ever done family movies, and I’m not sure if he’s even that popular a comedian. Most of his movies get bad reviews too, I don’t think he’s even a very good actor. I honestly don’t know why they got him of all people.
I think you’re right.
I usually consider myself reasonably knowledgeable about movies, but I don’t even know this guy.
I searched for him, and the only film of him I’ve seen is Dan in Real Life, and I didn’t even remember much of him there
In Cryer and Cook’s defense, look at Tim Allen. No one bats an eye at him voicing a Disney character?
But I’ll enlighten you. Apperently:
Sure, that was back in 1975. But it shows no one was perfect.
Oh, I hardly have any idea who Jon Cryer and Dane Cook are, so this doesn’t really change my opinion of it. A general thing with Pixar films is that I’m not familiar with the majority of the main voice actors until after I’ve seen it (The first time I’'d ever heard of Tom Hanks or Kelly MacDonald or any of these protagonist-voicers, was in their respective Pixar films). Of course, I know this isn’t 100% Pixar. But I did hear that John Lasseter’s executive producing it! Not a surprise really, but it further certifies that it’ll likely be awesome.
Oh my goodness I totally forgot about that Yeah, at least Dane Cook’s not a criminal. Hopefully he’s good at voice-acting.

I think he gets a producing credit on all of the animated Disney movies these days because he’s chief creative officer at Disney. So he has an ‘executive producer’ credit on Tangled, Wreck-it Ralph, the Tinkerbell movies etc. But apparently he’s a producer rather than an executive producer on this one, so maybe that means he’s been more involved in the development? Would make sense- it’s his creation after all.
OK I just read this article on Animag last night and I’m already hyped to the nth degree! I love the colorful designs of these new characters! And I’m very excited to see Skipper from Air Mater in here (even if I kinda expected that)… plus, they’ve got a great lineup of voice actors! I may not have been correct in assuming that Dave Foley would have a voice, but a couple other ABL voices made it! Read more here and become hyped

Personally, I’m not looking forward to this. It’s really just a direct-to production that is happening to get a theatrical release this August. The plot just seems so uninspiring and bland: A cropduster who is afraid of heights who wants to compete in a race?
Hey guys! This is a French (?) trailer (I think), but it shows about a minute and a half of brand new footage from the film in case some of you want to check it out: youtube.com/watch?v=FaAMubRBbxU
ears perk up
Carlos Alazraqui? I’m a bit intrigued.
But not enough to see this in theatres.
That’s understandable. But who is Carlos Alazraqui most famous for? I hear his name a lot, but I don’t really recognize any of his roles.

He’s best known for voicing Rocko from Rocko’s Modern Life, and Garcia in Reno 911. And the Taco Bell Chihuahua
This won’t be his first voice work for Disney. He’s been on Fish Hooks, Sofia the First, Handy Manny, The Emperor’s New School, and is the current voice of Panchito Pistoles.
The Taco Bell Chihuahua? Whoa, did I not know that! Thank you for that tidbit!

Dusty: Wait, how did chihuahuas get involved with this?
Plane: Stick with the program, man! This is all part of the learning process…
^Hahaha, oh how I wish that would be an actual scene.
Haha! That’s funny right there, LQ
There was a recent test screening from The Rotoscopers, in which they thought the film was decent. That’s right, decent.
