That was the line that stuck with me most from the latest trailer. ![]()
Apparently, the story behind Solo’s reply was that Harrison Ford was so frustrated Carrie kept messing up her lines (thanks to drugs) and after numerous retakes, he simply ad-libbed the line. There was a debate between him and George Lucas whether it was gonna get laughs to the point that they sat in a test screening together to gauge the audience reaction. And that line got a ‘good laugh’, so George kept it in.
Oh, and the original line was “I love you, too,” according to the script. You probably knew all that, SoA.
…
“No man can walk out on his own story.”
Yep, the original line was “I love you, too”, but the change hasn’t nothing to do with Carrie messing her lines.
Instead, what happened was that the director Irvin Kershner (who passed away a couple of months ago), disliked Lucas’ original line in the script, so they used the lunch time to keep improvising the scene, with Ford ad-libbing different responses. Finally, frustrated, he simply said “I know”, and that’s the line Kershner loved.

No, the child is the half of a man, because he isn’t grown yet.
Or Alan could be the half man because he is kind of like the mother character in the show.
