As many of you have heard, Up has 5 Oscar nominations including BEST PICTURE! Twitter is a buzz with the great news and that got me thinking. I think we should have an online PP Oscar party! I know the time difference may not work in favor of some of you here, but I think we could still get a good group of people together via Skype to celebrate and cheer on Pixar!
As long as my school schedule doesn’t get in the way (which I will make sure it doesn’t ), I’d be happy to host this. Let me know if you’d be interested in attending.

RE-EDIT: We will meeting in the PP chat room on Sunday at 5pm Pacific Time. Time conversions can be found here.
The time difference definitely does not work in my favor…
If I’m incredibly lucky, I might be able to make it, but it’s still rather uncertain if I can get a day off for this.
Neat idea, Hannah! I would love to attend the party. I’m not sure how many people we can get together for this, but I’m all for it nonetheless.
Since those in attendance would be meeting on Skype, should we all put down the times that we are available to chat? I take it that that would be preferred, so I’ll just put down the times I’m available. Voila’:
Sunday - Anytime after 3:00 PM.
Monday - Anytime during the day, except for 6:00 PM - 11:00 PM, which is when I attend art class.
Wednesday - Anytime during the day.
(All times are Pacific Standard Time.)
The rest of the week is usually guesswork, seeing as my work schedule is constantly fluctuating. Usually, however, I’m available all throughout the week from 5:00 PM onward, and I’m almost always available to chat at 10:00 PM or 11:00 PM Pacific Time.
So, yes, this is a fun idea, Hannah. I’m glad you thought of it.

P.S. I suppose that this thread could go in any number of sections, so this spot is probably as good as any.
Thanks, Mitch I was thinking it could be fun to get together via Skype during the Oscars so we can all geek out together while we watch. Or depending on what time works best, immediately after the Oscar Awards.
Ah. I see. Well, that’s a good idea, and, in my case, it’s plausible. I’m going to ask my workplace if I can possibly receive the day off (or, at least, work a morning shift) when the Oscars take place so as I can watch it live. If they’re lenient enough, I’ll be able to chat with you guys that day.
Sadly, I don’t have Skype, but if there was another way to join in, like a live chat, I’d love to participate. I’m going to be watching the Oscars for the first time this year praying that Up wins!
The awards ceremony is on March 7th, right? I’ll see if I can make it, though since I’d be back in Sydney then, I’m not sure whether they’ll do a live broadcast on their F-T-A. Will there be an internet online broadcast?
Sarah: Skype is a free program that you can download. It’s been the easiest way for a bunch of PP members to chat. Do you have any other suggestions though?
TDIT: Yep, March 7th at I believe 5pm Pacific Time. Don’t know if there’ll be an online broadcast or not.
I’d love to join in, but if the time converter I’ve used is correct, it’ll be at 1am my time, darn it! Ah well, I’ll just find out what Up won the next day and cheer then. Nice idea though, Hannahmation.
That’s a fantastic idea! Unfortunately like Lizardgirl It’d be 01:00 am monday morning for me. However I shall endeavour to attend anyway. Will you post your skype details whem more people confirm themselves?
I know about Skype! xD The problem is I’m not ALLOWED to download it, nor do I have a microphone or anything. My dad is very interenet paranoid, since he researches computer security at IBM.
However for an alternative, or in addition, I suggest a live chat. You can make private chat rooms on xat.com, I believe, and it’s possible to only allow members to chat, as far as I know.
The Oscars are this Sunday! I unfortunately find myself buried in a sea of animation projects so I won’t be able to devote a lot of time to watching the Oscars. Someone else is more than welcome to host the Skype call or maybe the more practical route, we can go with the Pixar Planet Chat Room idea so those without Skype can join.
Hannahmation - That’s perfectly understandable. School projects are more important. I still hope that you’ll be able to join in and converse about the event this Sunday, though!
Regarding what method we shall use to talk, I also vote for using the Pixar Planet chat room, seeing as not everyone has the Skype program.
Hopefully, I’ll be able to join in on the fun this weekend. As it turns out, I may not be able to attend at all, due to computer issues, but we’ll see how it goes.
I’m all for using the PP Chatroom. I’ll be able to join that way. For a little bit anyway… and you guys can keep me in the loop as I won’t have a tv handy. Livin’ in the computer lab this weekend. Yay?
