Proms

Prom, Prom, Prom…
The so called ‘must’ thing of

High school.
Personally, they are pretty much the same things overall. From homecoming near the start of the

school year, to Favorites near valentines, and then to the Almighty Prom next to graduation for H.S. Seniors

which I will dearly be heading for this May
Finalmente !.

The school I

go to is waaaayyyy disorganized in all the events it has since last school year from 2005-6. Its not actually a

public school, its a charter high school and is more in between being a public/private school. And to say the

worst, is even on the brink of being shutdown permanently next school year after this current school years

graduation class. I also heard and saw on photos of favorites at the school this past February was much more of a

banquet then what they say its intended for.
Since this is my and last final year of my high school life, I

believe I will take a little time to check out how the Prom goes this year in May. But I doubt many people will

be dancing in the first place, nor will many of the student body come especially considering all the Junior and

Senior student body.
And yes I go with what some people in this thread believe its more about nowadays. It

definitely is more of a non ‘guy with girl’ thing then it use to be in the last generation. More of the time,

friends or groups go to it more then do mates. Then some people only go on there own straight to the prom to have

talk with school friends and so forth, which I may likely do as well since I also have my own transportation

vehicle to bring me there.

My school studen body has just started fundraisers for

prom already. I am quite excited because we have made a lot of money in such a short period of time.

I didn’t go to prom, per se – I

went to the graduation ceremony and dinner that was before it, and then me and some friends just chatted around

the dance floor for a bit then went to one of their houses to hang out for a few hours.

The prom itself

wasn’t really my thing, but it was all right because I wore a top hat.

So I know I’m a little late

to this topic, but I thought I’d reply anyway.

My prom is in two weeks- and I’m like Mitch, not

so into boys. My experience with 'em hasn’t been too delightful- my experience with [i]dating in general[/]

hasn’t been too delightful, to be honest. Every time I meet a guy I think might be alright, he’s a jerk. Or

he’s got some sort of inferiority complex- or he’s clingy… I could go on. The guys my age around here are

just too immature. They still think sex jokes are funny and talk like they’re trying to be impressive. I

think I’ll just wait 'till college. Especially since I’d rather meet a guy more artistically inclined like

myself. D:

Anyway, back to actual prom talk. Despite being uniterested in dating, a guy friend of mine

(well, he’s sort of a friend. A new friend. And he’s uninterested in dating too, haha) is taking me and we’re

going as friend-dates. I’m not a school dance kind of person, I’ve never gone to one- but come on. It’s my

Junior Prom! Try everything once, I say. And as people here have been saying, it’s one of those high school

memories you should create for yourself. Prom only comes twice in your life, really.

On a last note: I’m

really disgusted with the dresses most girls are getting. They’re so ugly! Definately not my style. I’m trying

to get a dress more in

[url=vivcore.com

_Code=CV]this style[/url], or a dress from

this site. I’m also keeping a 50’s

sundress style in mind. I love retro clothing. ; )

I’m funny- I’m pretty tomboyish and not too girly- (I

don’t wear make up, I’m not boy crazy, etc. etc…) but I hate pants. I wear skirts with tennis shoes and

little boys T-shirts every day- and I’m trying to get a mildly girly dress for prom. I dunno, I’m weird.

XD

Yeah! I’m not the only one!! (snigger)

Cha – I’m not into boys at all,

and one of the reasons is because I’m so much like a guy already that I’d much rather hang out with them than

girls. Guys are funny; they speak my language, even if some of them can be rather rude and obnoxious at times.

(snigger)

So yeah – proms just ain’t my thing. I can’t stand all the mush and…bleh! :stuck_out_tongue:

Well, prom is

coming up for my schoo. Everyone is now excited. Especially the seniors.

Please post some pics?

I have been to a school prom. But over we

call them “formals”.

I would if I was going. You see, my girlfriend’s parents are kinda strict, so I am not sure

if I can go.

okay, im just

plain confused. . . so what is prom actually like (in general. . . i kno every school probably does a different

thing)

i can say what i had (two years ago now >.< ) is that the matrics (the last year in high

school) have a matric dance. . . only that year is invited but if they want they can invite people from other

grades. . . my old school like to have it at hotels  and everyone has a date and dresses up and there is a sit

down meal and speeches and a dance floor and photographer. . . bassically a *yay we’re grown up, lets party with

our teachers* event

is prom ANYTHING like that? :unamused:

$150 a person + uncomfortableness + loneliness = no way!

My friends are

going but a lot of people aren’t- everyone figures why pay so much to be held in a room when you can hold your

own private party? Jeez …

Don’t you hate that.

Although I am sure if I have a daughter I’ll be strict as well.

Yeah, it kinda sucks, but what can you do? I’m trying to

get her to go with me. I hope.

Oops… Mitch… I

didn’t know you were a girl.

In any case, prom was the best time to really present myself to my fellow

classmates, because I was usually shy. I totally glammed up and had fun with a friend of mine (cause I really

wanted to go with someone). The dance part was boring, but we just took the time to think about school and how we

would most likely never see each other again.

FONY - Woah – $150 per person? Gee whiz. I definitely

won’t be doing it now. :stuck_out_tongue:

Aggie - Haha – wow, I fool everybody! (snigger)

Nah – that’s perfectly alright, Aggie. I don’t mind a bit. Heck,

everybody thinks I’m a guy, no matter what website I go to. Call me “the dude” if you want. (laughs)

$150 bucks sounds rather a lot. Holy

cow. I can’t even remember the price of the top of my head for my school.

Oh dear it’s prom season. In between this post and the post before I had on this thread, I

got a boyfriend who is a senior. Sooo… it is looking like I’ll probably go to prom with him but I don’t know

yet… Yikes. The word prom just shouts $$$. Hahahah. Not just the ticket but the dress and the pictures and

the…

Oh wow, I

hope you will have a fun time. It is a lot, but in the end, many people consider it worth it.

I can totally blow the $150 on Pixar merchandise instead.

^^

I mean, proms can be fun, but if you saw most of the kids that go to my school, you’d not go as well.

^^ My school is loaded with mean wannabe gangstas. xD

Chances are if I went I’d make a fool of myself,

but that’s everyday. I’d just like to put my hometown behind me someday. =P

Mitch - I thought you were I guy at first too. Maybe it’s because your’e username

sounds “boyish” for some reason. Heh.

Glad to see I am not the only one that thought Mitch was

a dude.
