Ratatouille Awards

Andrew Stanton…

who’s he?

…are you serious?
He’s not only the co-director of A Bug’s Life, but the director of Fidning Nemo and WALL-E.

i just got mixed up into pixar recently, a result of ratatouille, so i don’t really know any other directors and stuff.

we are a little off topic

Martin: Hey, man, not everyone knows as much about Pixar as some members here, and they’d like to know something, we can tell them politely. I don’t think there’s a problem with that.
Sylvermagykan: You’re an extreme Ratatouille fan, too, I see. I hope it wins for BAF, but I think Persepolis will. :frowning:

Notice: Let’s keep this thread on-topic and friendly, please. If anyone would prefer to continue any further discussion about a non-related topic elsewhere, feel free to do so via the private message system (PM). Thank you.

okay, then…

does anyone else know any other awards that ratatouille has recently won?

It recently won a BAFTA (the british Oscar) and a PGA Award (producers guild) for Best Animated Film, 3 VES Awards (visual effects society, and one of the three award is very important, “Best Supporting Visual Effects in a motion picture” and the two others in animation categories) and a Grammy Award for Michael Giacchino’s score.

Ratatouille was also nominated in two important guild awards, Art Direction and Editors, competing with live action films, but didn’t win. The ADG award for Best fantasy film went to The golden compass and the Eddie award for Best editing in a comedy/musical to Sweeney Todd.

Although it is nominated for the Best original screenplay and Best sound at the Oscar, the respective guild (WGA and CAS) didn’t give any nomination to Ratatouille, but awarded its Oscar competitors, Juno and No country for old men.
The main competitor for the Best original score is Dario Marianelli for Atonement, who was not nominated for the Grammies (due to their rules of submission… all the Grammy competitors of Ratatouille were last year films), but won the Golden Globe.

In most of the dedicated Best Animated Film categories in various academies, associations, guilds and critics awards Ratatouille won against Persepolis, including the Golden Globe (where Persepolis was not nominated, being in the Best Foreign Film category). And at the Annie Awards it won 9 awards out of 10 categories it was nominated, Persepolis none of 4, Surf’s up 2 (one of them not competing with Ratatouille) of 9.
Also Finding Nemo was nominated with an adorable animated french movie, Les triplettes des Belleville, which is better then Persepolis imho, but Nemo won, so I wouldn’t be so sure that the Academy will award Persepolis just for being french, or political, or not comedy (not only…). Ratatouille is an amazing movie, and to award it not would be a serious signal…
but also Monsters, inc. was amazing, and then Shrek beated it ;_; That WAS serious…

So that’s the situation for the 5 precious Ratatouille Oscar nominations, 2 days before The Night…
I’m hoping for 3 statuettes, it would be a record for an animated movie… and i hope one of them will be in the best screenplay, a record too. And also the first Oscar for Giacchino, who really deserves it (he deserved it also for The Incredibles…).
Nonetheless Juno, Persepolis, Michael Clayton and Atonement are great movies, and Trasformers has great sound…

Persepolis is indeed a very fine movie, one I recommend everyone see (though it’s definitely not for young kids… it’s PG-13 for a reason). It’s always nice to have a year where there is more than one really good animated film nominated, whether it be “Triplets” or “Spirited Away” (rather than just a bunch of moronic films nominated only because they need to fill up the “best animated film” catagory with something). I would love to see Ratatouille win for best screenplay, but it’s pretty much a foregone conclusion that it won’t win the way most Academy voters still are (though it’s a testament of the film that an animated film would be nominated for best screenplay). Two more days, and we’ll see what happens…

WOW :open_mouth:

thats a lot of awards…

tho most I already know…

but whats “The Night”
[/quote]

Sylvermagykan: YOu got that right on a lot of awards. And “The Night” is probably the Academy Awards. We got our fingers crossed for Ratatouille for best Animated Film.
