Ratatouille DVD!

It’s ok.
It’s been taken care of. And I didn’t mean you when i said peopel where ignoring me, I menat everyone else who posted completely disregarding what i said. Anywyas, Mitch helped a lot so thanks to her. And thanks to you too PV for actually noticing

martini833 - I’m glad I could help you out as much as possible, but you’ll have to wait until Pixfan receives her version of the Ratatouille DVD if you want/require a screencap of the shot you’re refering to.

Hold on to yer horses.

Edit/PV: Thanks for mentioning to me to put a watermark on the wallpaper, by the way.

Thanks again everyone
That means Mitch and PV!

Welp, my DVD came earlier than expected!

A little random thing I like: the SIDE of the case. It looks awesome - all black and shiny with “Ratatouille” practically popping out at you. Looks great on my shelf. :sunglasses:

I liked the side as well! It’s weird not seeing the little chef hat on top of the nose, though :stuck_out_tongue:

Congrats on getting the DVD, Mitch. You and your beloved film are finally reunited.

Don’t worry, you are far from the only person who is disappointed by the (lack of) extras. It’s better than nothing I suppose, but not what we should expect from Pixar. I hope that next year (or when the format war is over between Blu-Ray and HD-DVD), Pixar can get back to promoting their own movies, and organising and having full control over how their films on DVD are put together and distributed.

Oh, and I love that desktop. It would be so adorable to have Remy looking at you like that every time you went on your computer.

Oh, yeah. I totally know what you are saying there. One time a movie theatre employee went into the projection room and turned the light on so of course, most of the movie theatre was lit up. This was during one of my favourite parts: [spoil]when Remy is trying to get Emile to savour his food.[/spoil] Darn teenage movie theatre workers! :imp:

Another time the theatre was awful. The cinema wasn’t even dark, the screen was a bit out of focus, the sound was dull and a bit quiet, kids were running up and down the isle and in front of the screen, there was only a flimsy curtain between the brightness outside and the theatre. Oh, and I forgot to mention that this was at the preview screening, ORGANISED BY DISNEY THEMSELVES!!!111!!

Ok, I’m feeling better, now.

Hey! That’s job discrimination!..although I’m 23. Heheh.

~~=oP

Well, congrats to everyone who has got the DVD so far! I know it’s disappointing when a film you love has a limited amount of extras, but hey, you don’t love the film because of the extras, do you? Nope, you love the film because of the film itself. So, although the extras may be quite disappointing, especially since it’s always fascinating to find out what’s going on behind the scenes at Pixar, the main thing is that you’ve got the film and are able to watch it as many times as you want.

Though, fingers crossed that future Pixar DVD releases don’t continue this negative trend- a film like Wall-E probably has some amazing behind-the-scenes experiences, and it’d be a shame to miss out.

I’m not sure if any of you noticed this, but it is an interesting fact to note:

Near the end of the film, Remy has finally achieved his dream and firmly secured his passion for fine cooking in that he has gained his own restaurant, Le Ratatouille.
After tenderly explaining to a fellow rat the melodious adventures that led up to his success, Remy is quickly alerted to the sound of a tinkling bell being jingled by hot and spicy chef Colette.
“Wope. Time to go! Dinner rush…,” announces Remy to his immediate family, before elevating down a small cup to a kitchen counter below, swinging on a sink tap to catch a droplet to wash his paws with, and grabbing a diminuative chef’s togue to pop onto his head in preparation for his next order.

Now hear this: You shall (most likely) never see the original version of Ratatouille again. Originally, Remy did not pick up and put on a little chef’s hat at all, but in the DVD version of the film…he performs this act. It’s cute and fits the situation to a tee, but, personality, I prefer the original “meal” myself.

Either Pixar or Disney had to animate the extra second (or two) in which Remy picks up the hat and tucks it into place, obviously. I rather wish that two versions of the film were available on the DVD – one where Remy wears the togue and another were he does not done it. Alas, so are the decisions of higher authorities. What can ya’ do? Heh…

rachel - Ah yes, my love and I can finally be together after all these months…

Man, that sounds kinda bizarre… :stuck_out_tongue:

Agreed. I’m hoping that Disney will either get their act together as far as organizing and inserting an adequate amount of content into their (and Pixar’s) DVDs goes, or that Pixar Animation Studios itself will secure a firm grasp around DVD releases that concern their productions. Ultimately, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens…

If you’d like to have this unique desktop as your own, just send me a PM and I’ll provide you with a link to the image. Anyone else who wants it may let me know, too, if they wish.

And, dude, theater experiences sure can suck sometimes. So you had to go through all of that…ludicrousness, too? Sheesh faleesh… (snigger)

Exactly! I agree with you 100% on this one. I just realized that myself after I popped the DVD into the player. Although I am disappointed for the lack of bonus features, I’m not as upset as I normally would be, because all I really care about, in the end, is the film itself. That’s what inspired me, motivated me, and captivated me, not the special features. Call me cocky, but there’s just…something about this film that makes me smile beyond reason; that makes me care about nothing else in the world that is problematic; that makes my heart shine… I don’t know what it is entirely, but I love it. <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In

Can’t recall, but IS there a two disc Ratatouille DVD or just one?

Mitch: I knew it!!! I don’t like Remy putting on a chef’s hat… What is that about?! Who made it? Because they don’t make rat’s chef hats for sale… that I know of. It just came across as a little weird for me. I like the original better.

I knew there was something weird about that! Probably because the toque looked photoshopped on, but I was puzzled by it and didn’t know why. It was like one of those “Can you spot all the differences between these two pictures” things in Highlights magazine.

Im holding out on buying it just yet, My Dad will probbably buy it so that saves me the money, besides he does not care about things like special features like I do.

Im holding out hope that somewhere in the near future they might release more extra features filled versions of Cars and Ratatouille.

It’s called the DVD Double Dip folks and it’s done many times. Usually I get get preatty upset when they do this sort of thing, but I have learned to reasearch and dig for DVD info so that I get the best versions of movies on DVD.

Im a special features fanatic, so If a movie that I really want comes out on DVD with little to no special features then chances are that it’s going to be double diped. So I skip buying the bare bones version and wait for the better version.

Im hoping this is what happens with Cars and Ratatouille.

Colette Linguini and kageri - I know, it sucks! I doubt that the togue was Photoshoped on, as it looks pretty dimensional and realistic to me…as far as 3D animation goes. I wonder who did the extra animation – Disney or Pixar? Probably Pixar, but I suppose that it doesn’t really matter. And speaking of which, whose idea was it to put the hat on him anyway? It adds nothing to the story; it only makes Remy look…cuter, I suppose. He looks pretty dandy on his own, to me! Why do people have to put clothes on everything…? (snigger)

– Mitch

I KNEW it!

I remember first noticing it when I went to see it again at the theatre I normally go to (they have something called “See It Again Sundays” where they play movies that are no longer in theatres again), and I thought there was something weird. I could’ve sworn it wasn’t like that before, and I guess I turned out to be right  Hah, thanks for pointing that out!

LeBatEnRouge - Heh. No problem! :stuck_out_tongue:

Stupid hat… (snigger)

Well, when I get the DVD I will try to get my hands on the “original” cinema copy so I can compare the two version. That is very strange, and I probably wouldn’t have noticed it otherwise… I wonder why they even chose to do that, and whose decision it was. It’s a bit unsettling, anyway.

Another difference: Nearly all the paperwork has been translated into French. Why, I don’t know, but I think it makes it look more realistic. Although, when Remy’s reading the letters, you can’t exactly understand what he’s reading that calls for music of dawning realisation.

rachel - It is rather strange. I wish you well in getting a hold of the original version. Heh.

RMS Oceanic - Really? I never noticed that on my Ratatouille DVD. In fact, all of the papers (including the letter and will that Remy reads) are still “intact” and in English. I wonder why yours is different? Did you, perhaps, switch the audio to French? Maybe that changes the translation on the papers, too, though I highly doubt it. Heh.

I suppose I should have said “tacked” on. And it’s a bit discomfiting, honestly. Why did they do it? WHAT IS THEIR MOTIVE? It’s like some freaky conspiracy theory!

I suppose it might be IC for Remy to want to wear a goofy hat like everyone else, but WHY I DO NOT UNDERSTAND
