Ratatouille DVD!

kageri - It makes no sense whatsoever…except for the sensical part. :stuck_out_tongue:

I had a feeling that something was wrong when, on one of the Disney Channel “Really Short Report” shows highlighting the official release of the Ratatouille DVD, Remy was shown wearing a miniature chef’s hat during the end of the film. I thought that that was simply added on specifically for the show and the show only. Unfortunately, it turned out that my presumptions were incorrect…

I absolutely hate it when Disney does something like this, if it, indeed, was a Disney official’s idea, as it adds nothing to the story and only induces a litle more “flavor” into the sequence that purely for entertainment reasons only. I suppose that it was a fairly clever mechanism in attracting peoples’ attention so that they may want to have a better “motive” to purchase the DVD, but there’s still no clear point to it either way.

(le sigh)

I’m leaving to pick up my copy at the mall. And to use my discount cards.

crosses fingers I do so hope you’re wrong Mitch, and that I do get a 2-disc copy.

Geez, so many people talking about the DVD, and I’m here suffering without it… :frowning:
Heh, just kiddin’. ;-p I haven’t read any of your “reviews” on the DVD, I wanna experience it all when it comes to my hands… But I’m really happy for you guys!
Now, don’t ask me when is it going to come out here, because I don’t know. Looks like the Portuguese DVD release date hasn’t been announced yet, and if it has, I don’t really know where to look for it. But I’m practically sure it’ll come out before Christmas.

Mitch
- Hehe, you’ve been waiting for it for what looked like an eternity, haven’t you? ;-p

Changing the language does in fact change some on-screen text in the German DVD releases of e.g. “Cars” and “The Incredibles”.

This is done by using multiple angles for certain scenes which are automatically switched to match the language selected in the DVD’s audio setup menu.
I assume the same applies here as well.

And by the way, the German theatrical release of Ratatouille also includes the French translations, but the scene at the end was not changed, as far as I remember.

Blehh … I got it but tis a one-disc. >_< Ah well. I’ll get over it.

Maggie - Welcome back, Maggie! I’ve missed seeing you around the boards, and that goes for sharpie, too. School is like a cloak… (snigger)

I hope you Portugal folks receive the DVD soon! Even though there is not much content included in/on the disc itself, there are, at least, a few worthwhile trinkets that are fun to look at.

You know it, dude.

totoro - Really? Huh. Interesting. Well, that explains it, then! I’ll have to test that out myself and see if it applies to the U.S. version of the disc, as well.

FONY - Yeah, it sucks. Heh.

I’m just realizing it wasn’t worth it, not even for the lithographs because they’re only taking up space with all my sketchbooks/magazines/etc, and ya can’t exactly put them up on a wall unless they’re framed … I might even give them away.

Can’t return it because I’m the idiot who opened it thinking there might just be 2 discs. I don’t think they take returns when it’s opened … I might be able to trade it in to my friend if he gets a shipment of 2-disc ones.

I didn’t want to post a new topic for the DVD cover, but my sister just noticed something totally UN-REAL - Linguini is cooking!?!?!?!?!?!? <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/youwhaaa.gif” alt=“o_0;;” title="You

Whaaa…" />

Along with that, I was trying to figure out where in the film that Remy wore that hat.

 [/i]

Linguini did pose as a chef for a period of time in the film. :stuck_out_tongue:

I just got the DVD today ( I would’ve on Tuesday, but I was so busy) , and this couldv’e been so much better . One-disc again? Come on, is there a trend forming? I hope not. I mean, no commentary , nothing even close to what came with The Incredibles 2-disc edition. The movie will be great as always, but this could’ve been better.

Oh, and I will begin my Lifted sketch . I needed to get the DVD because I needed a certain shot. I couldn’t find it on the internet. So that’s why it’s taking so long, guys. I would’ve gotten it up a lot sooner if that were’nt the case, but oh well.

Not sure if it’s known yet…but Easter Eggs.
On the selecting menu, did anybody notice the two Easter Egg “portals” that appear and disappar as the menu’s “playing” the rats going back and forth.
I mean about a few seconds into the Menu’s start (before it stops and restarts), the pot on the right side can be selected to review…lets see what was it…I think it was around “how to pronounce Ratatouille” and a few other things. And then a few seconds more, it disappears. A few seconds more after that, the left pot becomes selectable.
I haven’t viewed the other one, but figured that since these “Easter Eggs” seem to only be selected at times on the menu track just seemed like something viewers could miss.

If a botulism epidemic sweeps Paris I guess we’ll know what happened.

Nexas: Yus! I found the easter eggs! Those are awesome. Do you know if there are others on the other menus? I’ll have to go check …

Uhh, guys, I already listed the easter eggs, and then Mitch listed them again in fuller detail. :stuck_out_tongue:

PV: Sorry about that- I had only started replying to this thread and I must’ve missed that.

Where can I find details about the bonus disc from Target? I’m considering buying it because I found an old gift card I had but I’d like to know what’s available on it first.

There’s already a Store-Exclusives topic, but the extras on the Target second disc are another deleted scene, a progression reel of the Rapids sequence, a set of character profile videos with concept art and stuffs, those Weird Food spots that appeared on Disney Channel and several international TV Spots (though I find the extra’s name, Ratatouille Around the World limited as it just covers the US, Spanish speaking countries, and Japan)

i just picked up my copy of the dvd. I brought it at Target, and it came with a bonus disc. I havn’t seen the movie yet but i’ll watch it tonight to see what the fuss is about it.

Over at HiDefDigest.com they’ve got a review of Ratatouille’s Blu-Ray. It’s a great review, but the most interesting part for me was the overview of the bonus features. Apparently the Blu-Ray has over an hour and a half of exclusive bonus features in addition to a commentary from Brad Bird and Brad Lewis. I don’t have a Blu-Ray player, but I’m seriously considering buying this and using the $10 rebate card that came with the DVD. That way I’ll have it when I finally do upgrade to High Definition.

Anyway, here’s the review.

By the way, there’s also a review for the Cars Blu-Ray (which humorously says that Cars is rated PG-13).

I’m happier now because I realized that I have an old $30 Target gift card. That oughta cover Ratatouille. Now what to do with the extra … :stuck_out_tongue:

You could always watch it.

Or sell it on eBay - they’ve been going for about US$15 each! Or if you really don’t want it, I will take it off your hands. Heheh.
