Rest In Peace

Yeah, I had a feeling you’d post this, little_chef!

RIP Armstrong, you’ve done a great service for your country and the world!

pixarfan: That’s a good idea, Mods, whaddya think?

^^I think that’s a good idea too, so we can tribute them as they come (and I can’t lie, it feels like a lot of greats have passed in just the last couple of years. Davy Jones… )

I could probably merge a bunch of the recent death topics together and then rename it to one generic thread. It might take me a little while to compile them all, but I can definitely try.

On the subject of Neil Armstrong’s death, here’s some pictures from NASA of the memorial service that was held for him today at the Washington National Cathedral. Still hard for me to believe that he really is gone. :frowning:

I’m creating a general board for news of recent deaths being reported by the media.

Please be patient as I work to merge most of the pre-existing threads covering those deaths. Once the threads have been consolidated, you’re free to post here!

EDIT: I believe I’ve merged all the threads. Posts should be ordered from oldest to newest.

Oh, excellent! Lovely work.

This is quite a sad topic to page through, but I do feel it is good to have a single thread for when these things happen…
(In particular going back to page 1 and seeing MJ discussion… )

Wow she lived to be 95? She’s my grandma’s age(although my grandma is still around and will be 96 in November).

Anyway, that’s sad that she passed away but sounds like she had a long life. She outlived most people.
RIP

Wow… can’t believe it… :frowning:
All I can say is that she really brought life to the character of The Queen, and I’ll always remember her for being The Queen more so than any character (and it’s not just because I haven’t seen anything else with her in it). Rest in Peace.

I know!! I recently heard of that  I couldn’t believe it…

RIP for the Sandy Hook Massacre victims. I live across the country and don’t know any victims or families, but every day I think of them.

The victims of Sandy Hook continue to be in my prayers as well as their parents. At least their new home in heaven is much better for them now.

Also, may my late grandfather be happily rejoicing with his Creator as well, as well as my pastor’s wife. All right before Christmas, too.

In my life and in observance of others, I tend to see the pattern of people dying around Christmas. Maybe it’s because it is during a happy time of year, it stands out more. Never the less, it’s hard time for anyone who looses someone in that time. My thoughts are with your family LQ, as well as your pastors family.

Thank you, EJE. I really appreciate that.

Not a problem! If you ever need someone to talk to, just let me know.

RIP Richard Griffiths.

RIP Roger Ebert

RIP indeed.

He had his misses too, but it’s undeniable that he was a legend.

RIP, he had some amazing quotes, that made me laugh and reflect about film.

Very sad news indeed. I didn’t always agree with him, but I found his take on films refreshingly free of the snobbery and miserable cynicism that pervades movie critic circles, he actually went to see movies to enjoy them. I’m not sure if there is anyone who can fill that void. He will be missed.

The world lost a great man today, and I lost one of my heros who helped me to see film not just as entertainment, but as a life-enriching art form. RIP Roger Ebert. Now he can finally hang with Siskel again.

Check out this blast from the past

Rest In Peace, Roger Ebert.
