Rest In Peace

The news of Roger Ebert’s death has saddened me. He was my favorite film critic.

Great video to show!

“This technique will totally revolutionize animation”

Well, he hit that right on the nail!

Well said.

He just had a unique perspective on the entire moviegoing experience. I’m really sad—I was just thinking about him a few days ago and how much I looked forward to reading his review for Monsters University once it was out, as I always read his Pixar reviews. :frowning:

As a film critic for my present job and when I was in uni, and as a huge fan of movies in general, Roger’s passing holds some meaning for me. I’ve read a few of his online reviews and maybe half of his “This Movie Sucks” book, and I can’t say I agree with his opinion or tone all the time. But I respected his honesty and appreciation of one of the most powerful mediums of our time.

I’m not exactly sad that he’s gone, but I will certainly lament any reviews of future movies that he could’ve written. RIP Roger Ebert, thanks for giving me a few laughs and the inspiration to be who I am today.

RIP Venezuela.

I’m sure most of you would’ve heard of the terrible tragedy in Boston by now. My heart goes out to all the victims of this atrocity. I hope the perpetrator will be brought to justice, and that people will remain calm and rational in these uncertain times.

I will quote Bostonite Patton Oswalt, whom most of you would know as the voice of Remy from Ratatouille:

RIP Mako

June 21st, 2006

RIP Paul Walker.

The author of Junie B Jones has died recently.

Yes, I heard that! My memories of that book series are very vague, but it’s incredibly sad nonetheless. :frowning:

Oh really! I loved those books growing up.

Has anyone here ever heard of Dimples? I only ask because Shirley Temple has died recently…

Temple’s death really touched me. I adore her. The most successful child actor of all time. Not to mention an incredibly inspiring woman. Twice an ambassador, spoke out against Breast Cancer when it was considered taboo to do so. On the Board of Director for several corporations (including Disney). Remarkable woman.

Shirley Temple was on the Disney Board of Directors once? I did not know that! All I know of her is her role in Dimples. In fact, I’ve only watched that once–and with my Grandma, back when she was still living in her old house and in Crestline. Too bad she’s in Mill Creek of Galion right now…it’s been a year and a half now since her fall.

The last reported death on this page was Shirley Temple. And last night another major star from Hollywood’s golden era died- Mickey Rooney. His career spanned 9 decades- he started in Silent Films! Such an impressive career.

(Disney fans will note that he voiced Todd in The Fox and the Hound)

Yep, I was shocked and saddened by Mr. Rooney’s death too. :frowning: Both he and Shirley gone in the same year… time sure passes quickly it feels like. :frowning:

I was really shocked when my mother told me about his death; I was so sure he would reach the age of a hundred years.

Rest in peace, Mister Rooney.

One of the most gifted and most iconic comedians of all time just passed away. Robin Williams (1951-2014) I’m just shocked.

^ I’m just as shocked! I can’t believe he’s gone!

I was very shocked too.
