San Diego Comic Con

The mother of all dork-fest. Is anyone going this year? Has anyone ever been?

I will be attending all 4 days this year since my school is being represented. I’m going to try to hit all the Pixar related events, and I’ll be sure to report back what I hear. I know for a fact that there is a joint UP/Bolt panel on Saturday.

I don’t know. I might. I have never been to Comic Con in my entire life. And I have been living in SD for all my life.

Why do all the awesome stuff happen on the west coast

I hope you have fun

TSS: Is the weather there always so stable? I checked the weather channel site and everyday was the same thing. That an impossible scenario where I come from!

Hopefully I will.
I live in Michigan…sadly. So I’ve got quite a distance to travel, which sucks because of the transportation issues the country is having.

Haunt, I’ll tell you that it is always hot. THat is pretty much normal weather. If it is really cold or windy or rainy, then there is an abnomality.

BUt anyways, I hope to go. I got some friends already planing to go.

TSS: Cool cool. Do you have tickets yet? All the days are sold out now =(

Really? Already? oh shoot, no I didn’t get mine.

Haunt - Ahh… you beat me to it.

The tickets are all sold out?!?!? Ah, dog gone-it! Well, that settles that! My dad is a professional, so he gets into the Con for free every year. My sister and I, on the other hand, have never been to this holy event in our lives, and we’ve been waiting for that magical moment to attend the thing for years. My dad might be able to get one (even both) of us in free, but it’s a long shot in the dark…

I’m sincerely hoping that we do get to attend the event, though. If that happens, look for a girl with black braids and a red Ratatouille t-shirt, Haunt. (And if I’m not wearing the Ratatouille t-shirt then I’ll probably be sporting a drawing of a Chris Sanders character with the words “Kiskaloo” written on it, since I plan on asking Mr. Sanders if he could possibly sign my shirt.)

Oh yeah. Those tickets go flying the closer you get I got my 4-day pass about 1 and a half months ago and they sold out about a week later. After that it’s usually Saturday that goes next.

Mitch: I haven’t the foggiest what I’ll have on. Chances are I’ll be wearing a badana (either black or white), probably a black tank-top, baggy saggy boy cargo shorts (I hate girl shorts). I’ve got long black hair that’ll either have a blue or purple streak in it somewhere. Oh, and goggles around my neck.
…and a desperate “please for the love of art, hire me!” look on my face.

Sold out already? Wow! The Comic Con sounds so cool- hope you have fun, Haunt! What sort of things do they usually put on display on the panels?

My friend Dawn and I would love to go to a Comic Con. Strangely enough, there’s something there for each of us. But things like that run into money…

Lizardgirl: Oh yeah,. Comic Con s serious business. Biggest gathering of its kind. The product and collection booths alone draw in thousands. And as for the panels I had to make a spreadsheet for each day. I lot of stuff overlaps so I need to make sure some things have priority. You can see the entire itinerary here.

lennonluvr9: Heh, don’t get me wrong. This trip is setting me back major. It’s worth it only because my school will have booth there and that can really effect your chances of finding an internship or job. Plus some of the panels are run by professionals like top directors and head artists and they just dish out the tips and tricks of the trade.

Haunt- That’s absolutely incredible. So many famous people in the animation world packed into such a short time! Amazing. I don’t know how you’ve managed to choose from all of them!

Haunt - Alright, so you’ll basically be adorning tomboy-ish attire? Awesome. Gotcha.

I see we share similar facial expressions… (snigger)

Alright, here’s the deal:

My dad just might be able to squeeze my sister and I into the Con this Friday and Saturday. We’ll have to contribute to the train tickets, and we’ll also have to ride to work with him for a few days but, heck, I’ll accept the latter any time (plus, this is the Con we’re talking about here…). I’m quite pleased that we all have a chance to make it through the gates on Saturday, because that’s when a panel on Up will be shown from, I believe, 2:30-3:00 PM. (My sister and I are each going to draw a Monsters, Inc. picture in our drawing books in the hopes that Pete Doctor will sign our sketchbooks. snigger) Other than that, the only thing we have to worry about is the expense, which shouldn’t be a problem after all…

My only extreme worry, at the present time, is that my current portfolio only hosts about 4-5 drawings, all of which are pitiful. And, of course, my sketchbooks are no good, as my art sucks and I have next to nothing that is note-worthy. Seriously, I’m freaking out right now… (sigh)

Other than that, Comic-Con!!! :stuck_out_tongue:

Since I am most likely not going, I wish everyone to have a fun and safe trip over there.

Have fun, Mitch! I expect a detailed report of the Comic Con after you get back! ;-p

rachel - Ha-ha! Sure thing, and thank you! I’ll be sure to take lots of pictures and write out a lengthy report afterwards if I do attend the event.

– Mitch

I can’t wait for it.

I can’t wait to read your report either, Mitch. Have fun!

We’re going to the Con!!! Ahhh!!! Dude, I… I’m gonna go pack my bags…

Thank you very much, everyone! I’ll be certain to give you all a full analysis of the event once I return.

flips out
