I have a twitter and a facebook.
I have brown hair and blue eyes. (And I also would like to be a writer BTW too aerosmith but I really, really have to work on it- I have an idea for a fantasy series though. Also someone could be out there, you never know. Relationships are tricky though- for me, sometimes I stick people in friend categories but things eventually change over time)
So many writers! I’d like to hear about that fantasy series one day, MG. That is if you don’t mind telling me.
Depending on circumstances I will soon learn if The Wire truly is th ebest show on television.
It uses some traditional ‘tropes’ but hopefully I can get something good out of it. Still have to work on it personally (including gain a proper grip on the characters), but it’s more or less two girls from our world ending up in another and thrown into situations beyond their control. I know one of them will be British-Indian, but the other I keep changing my mind on- sometimes she’s Scottish herself, or Irish-American or even where I’m from (N.Ireland). I still have to work out the characters completely though it’ll probably be weird in the sense that none of the main characters end up together or in a romantic relationship at the end at all (though they have 'brushes)- it’s mostly about friendship.
Mostly, I’m trying to work out the characters a bit more right now. I think I quite like a older sister- younger brother dynamic with one of the girls and a more minor characters though. Plus, one of the darker antagonists I have I like to think is fairly interesting in his own way. The antagonists mostly think they’re ‘good’ too in a sense and doing the right thing and that the world isn’t worth saving and that their own enemies are wicked and evil, even though their persepective and viewpoint is severely screwed up for various reasons.
I think I need more patience to watch this show. While I typically enjoy gritty realism, I just haven’t felt attached to any of the characters on the show yet. But I hear it gets better over the seasons! I’ve only seen about half of the first season. Take a show like “Breaking Bad”–now that’s quality television.
I’m getting my second tattoo in a few hours. That’s the only reason I’m up this early!
I usually have the most intense dreams.
Spirit of Adventure:Does your sig and avatar have something to do with it?
I have major anger issues…
^ Maybe. I believe my love for movies (and fiction in general) is somewhat reflected in what I dream, making the dreams very intense and action packed.
That sounds actually sounds pretty fun, MG. I hope you update on me as it progresses. Regular people transported to fantastic places is one of my favorite tropes of all time. It’ a central concept in many of my stories and daydreams.
I also like the fact that nobody ends up in a romantic relationship. Though romance doesn’t bother me in fiction something that drives me up the wall is this unwritten rule that nobody can just be friends. Everyone has to have romantic feelings for each other regardless of the characters’ own preferences or sometimes even authorial intent.
That bothers me too, aerostarmonk. If anyone watches Community, (and spoilers for anyone who doesn’t) [spoil]when Annie and Jeff kissed, that seriously bugged me. They had a nice, almost brother/sister thing going on, and then they went and did that.[/spoil]
I actually had less of a problem with that because it was lampshaded, parodied and mocked from the get-go What I love about the show is that it’s willing to do a straightforward take on convention while simultaneously demonstrating and commenting on why we’re so tired of them without getting too mean-spirited.
queen_of_painting: I’ve been meaning to catch up on Breaking Bad. I’ve only seen the first half of the first season. I’ve always appreciated Cranston ever since Malcolm and even his appearances on Seinfeld. But as this show demonstrates maybe we’ve been taking him for granted these past couple of decades.
My dreams get pretty intense as well. Sometimes I even dream when I’m kind of awake. Which really isn’t a good thing but I find it a wee bit cool.
^ I like that too. The real problem is that you don’t rest a lot when the dreams are intense.
(Wow, this thread got big…)
I spent $30 on gifts for my siblings
I usually don’t do that.
I only want movies and dolls for Christmas
I love what Violet Parr did with this avatar
I completely agree with you! Misguided writers for sure.
I watch shows that aren’t aimed anywhere near my demographic. Shows such as Martha Speaks and Curious George. The former because it’s more entertaining and clever than a vocab show featuring a talking dog ought to be. The latter because it’s frickin’ adorable. Seriously. Frank Welker melts my heart as George.
I’m usually overdressed, often using suits and ties, which is the reason I’ve gained James Bond as one of my many nicknames.
That. is AWESOME!
My room is blue with a Mickey Mouse border. I am also asking for the Art of Tangled and a Rapunzel doll for Christmas
Neato Katie! You’re even more awsome than you were 5 minutes.
I would love to voice a cartoon character someday.
^ Thanks hahaha
AND SAME! I think that would be the coolest thing ever
