School

Well, it is coming up again. What do you all say about this new school year? DO you like your schedule? WHat classes are you taking. Please feel free to spill any school blues/excitements you might have.

I’m gonna be honest here and say that I absolutely cannot wait to get into college

this month. Seriously, I’m biting my fingernails with anticipation. One of the reasons for this is because I

have been extremely bored for the past…few months and have had nothing whatsoever to do in order to keep myself

occupied to a healthy extent. Reason number two reaches over to the career side of the clouds: For once, I’ll

finally be able to do something with my life and enter into the animation arena so as to pursue my goals.

As for my classes, I’m going to major in computer graphics and minor in art. My goal is to earn a

Certificate of Authenticity, or something along those lines, which is basically the next degree down from an

Associate’s Degree.

So yeah. Bring on the workload, baby! I’m ready to jump out of my chair and start

cookin’!

I am so ready for this next year of school. My schedule is very, very fun. I

take British Literature, Civics and Economics, Drama, Choir, Digital Mdeia, and Honors Pre Calculus.

The Star Swordsman - Ooo – sounds like fun, especially the “British Literature” part! I trust you’ll have a great time.

I know, I can’t wait to study the great works of Shakespeare!

Mitch I think College will be the best time of your life, it was for me.

School? Meep … ..
I can wait for it. between me being the only different one there out of 200 something kids…-
- Gotta remember…this is a catholic school i’m in XD I’ve been in the same school for 10 years now XD This is my final year in my school. 8th grade. (obviosuly)
Well, my classes are basiclly the same as last year and so are all the teachers…you don’t really get to move around too much in my school. It’s pretty, well…BORING @_@

Just wait until you get into High school Deidara. You will

have so much freedom around there. That is what I like about HS.

(BTW, I remembered you as Mirage’s#1fan.

How could I forget? Welcome back!)

Yeah, I can’t wait for high school…@_@
I need outta there…very badly

(Thanks  Nice to see ya again.)

And here I was thinking that the QLD system was completely

odd compared to NSW. Now the US system is really odd. I find it funny how your big set of holidays are in the

middle of the year, but it makes sense because it being summer there. Does this mean that when you finish Grade

12 it will be in the middle of the year, and you started your first day of school in the middle of the year? That

would be really odd to me.

I think we are particularly blessed over here due to the fact that Summer and

Christmas coincide and we get heaps of holidays over christmas. I would like to experience a white christmas

however.

Only 1 1/4 years of school to go! Then what the heck am I going to do with my life ha! Still

debating whether to do animation at Uni or online through Animation Mentor which I have heard wonderful things

about. Or yet I could learn film editing, or graphic design or study to be a director of photography or become a

Mac technician. Anything to score a job at Pixar. But first would love to work for Weta.

Well, bawpcwpn, for me, school is a thing of the past, but

I usually began a new year in early September and finished it in early June. When Christmastime arrived, we were

given a couple of weeks off for Winter Break.

I’m not familiar with what skills you have (other than

running the best darn Pixar news blog evah!), but whichever career you wish to pursue, I recommend building

experience with Macs. Had I known Pixar was big on Macs, I would’ve followed a different

path.

~~=oP

aZnCdn - Oh yes. I’m going to make sure that it

will be one of the best times of my life.

bawpcwpn - I’m not sure if this applies to every state in the United States

in general, but here in California the school year usually starts in late summer/early fall and then ends in late

spring. My college semesters will stretch from late August to, I believe, late spring.

Vacation time

varies with each school, but we usually get a good majority of the summer season off and sundry other holidays

off, as well (ie., Christmas, Thanksgiving, etc…).

But yeah. It is kinda weird. :stuck_out_tongue:

Good luck

with your career, by the way! I’ll see you at Pixar…

I’m so excited for school to start that I’m practically exploding. I’ve been doing

several things to gear up, from going to bed earlier and earlier (1:30? During the summer? Unheard of!) and

drawing more every day. I’ve also stated a new yearly tradition to rate my progress.
For those ho don’t

know, my early summer was entirely dedicated to getting into the art school of my choice

CCS. I spent many a restless nights working on my portfolio. I did get in,

and even got some money for efforts. So come early Sept. I’ll be marching off to D-town to learn the trade.

I’m an Illustration major, but I may add Animation (concentrating on Character Animation) as a minor. Thanks to

stalkboo- I mean facebook I’ve been able to contact some students in those majors and learn about it. Turns out

that the two departments work closely together, and that’s fine by me.
My class schedule is great. I have

classes from Monday to Wednesday, which means I have a 4 day weekend. I’ll be working, so I won’t have an

excess of free time. My classes are Age of Discovery (Art History),

Figure Illustration I, Pictorial Problem Solving, and

Writing for Art & Design II.
I managed to test out of the first two english

classes. A bit of a double edged sword though. I don’t have to deal with stuff that would bore me, but I have

to take much harder classes now.
I really excited for my studio classes, especially the PPS class. My other

school looked down on things like illustration and the likes, so to be able to freely do it is revolutionary to

me. Sooooo happy! (And soooo poor ) :frowning:
I’ll probably miss the atmosphere of MSU, but I think I’ll manage to

be just fine without it.

Oh… Tenth grade… high school… I’m excited. I’m taking Art Foundations II ( I didn’t take it last semester because of a very bad experience with my art teacher) . Before school ended, my parents and I planned out my classes for the next three years (starting with tenth grade) . I signed up for a computer graphics class right away… so I’m excited.

Owch. Way too early to be thinking about school yet! We haven’t even had our results back yet! They’re coming

out on the 23rd of this month…I don’t wanna think about it.

But as for school, well, it’s a pretty big

step for me this year- high school is finished, and it’s onto Sixth Form! As long as my results are what I’m

expecting, I’m going to be taking the following

subjects-

Physics
Maths
Latin
Psychology

So, lot’s of fun there! As well as those

four, I’m doing a car mechanics side course thing, just for fun. I don’t know if I’m excited or not- on the

one hand, I’m gonna be taking just the subjects that I enjoy, which is nice, but then on the other hand, I

probably won’t see much of my friends since there’s no guarantee that we’ll be in the same form together or

anything. There’s also the other worry that the stuff we’re going to be learning is going to be completely

above and beyond me…Apparently, the step from High School to Sixth Form is the biggest step to take in terms of

education difficulty, so it’s pretty scary.

We don’t start 'til September anyway, so there’s a little

while left before all of the worrying and hard work can begin, but still…

So glad to be done with school!!!

I found something fun while digging around my school’s website
A graduate of CCS
It gives me a little hope that it does.

I am not sure I am going to like it when that happens. Personally, I love school.

It is the biggest thrill of my life!

Haunt - Congratulations on securing a position at CCS! It’s even cooler that a

Pixar employee graduated at the exact same college/university. (Mr. Shuster designed the podracers in

The Phantom Menace? That’s beyond wicked!)

It still boggles my mind to

think that a good majority of us Pixar Planet members are striving to achieve the

same goal: to secure a position at Pixar Animation Studios. Just think: One of these

days we might all get to meet each other in person, and in the same studio! :stuck_out_tongue:

With school starting for me in exactly one more week, I have got to say I have gotten the best Back-to-school present ever! I just got myself an Incredibles themed back to school kit! THis includes a:

Pencil sharpener of Dash
A Mr. Incredible eraser
two TI pens
post-its
an adressbook
pencil holder
TI ruler
and more!

You can say I am incredibly ready for the coming school year. :unamused:
