I guess Dreamworks is going theatrical. Will they keep their same philosophy in casting and only cast big name stars no matter what the story calls for? LOL
I’ve seen a live show of Shrek, which was not my choice I assure you, and it was just as bad as the movie: no real storyline, out-of-place music numbers, and dancing for no real reason. I’m sure the costume and set design will be creative, but it will be no match for Disney-Pixar’s live productions, I’m sure.
Well I’m going to say that this should work out quite well for Dreamworks/Paramount. Shrek has the musical numbers already in it so it should look great on stage.
Although it probably won’t make it to Australia until a few years after it’s initial run over in the US. And even then it’ll probably only go to Melbourne/Sydney.
I loved the Shrek movies (the first two, anyway) but this seems like a disaster. I can’t see it as a good stage show let alone a musical. I mean, the kareoke singing annoyed me enough! >_<
I like Shrek, but as a musical on Broadway? I don’t really think it i such a good idea. That is just my own opinion though.
Why even bother? I mean, seriously. This sort of thing makes me boil with rage. The way Dreamworks are exploiting what was originally a successful and enjoyable franchise is so sad. Just hearing about Shrek Three Billion is bad enough, but a stage show? Pah.
I wonder if this has to do with Shrek the Third. Remember that guy who had play in which he killed a oger.
Anyways, lets hope this is good. I hate to see what happens if this is a flop.
Ohh wow. I don’t even know how to respond to this. Oo I didn’t enjoy the third movie at all. It really disappointed me.
I don’t see this turning out to be any good =/
I think I heard about this. I honestly dont have an opinion of it one way or the other. I dont care at all about the Shrek films therefore I dont care about a Shrek musical.
I don’t do musicals unless they’re in tv or movie form.
What have you been doing, Robert?
…No.
Just no. Haha.
That’s rediculous.
I guess now I have to hate one of my favorite places in the world.
Broadway… you’ve made such great shows like “Wicked,” “The Producers,” “The Lion King,” and my all-time favorite, “Joseph and The Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”
I just thought I should reminisce about how good broadway was before Shrek dropped in… UNINVITED!!!
Broadway… I knew thee well…
NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
If anyone here has seen “Avenue Q” you will be disappointed.
The Director of “Avenue Q” (which was great) will be directing “Shrek: The Musical”
God
Can they make this suck any more?
hey, nightwheel…
THIS WILL BE A FLOP!!!
Woah… a triple post… I don’t want to sound like a backseat moderator but I’m fairly sure that ain’t allowed…
Anyways, Shrek the Musical… no thanks. I will not be viewing such a spectacle, good day to you sir!
Who could their target audience be? Kids, obviously, but will parents be willing to pay upwards $100 for a ticket at a broadway theatre to sit through two hours of juvenile slapstick humor and potty jokes? I honestly doubt it…
(Then again, think how much people were willing to pay for Miley Cyrus tickets on eBay…)
Miley Cyrus actually has talent whereas Shrek has always been and even on Broadway, will always be, horrible.

nice reply.
Hey guys, you know, maybe SHrek on broadway might be a surpriser. You never know. It ight be as good as the movie, but it might surprise people.
