^^ That I agree with

Politics is way too complicated

for me to get involved. I figure, at the end of the day, it doesn’t matter who I do or don’t support- it’s not

really gonna make much difference in the general scheme of things.

I’d

like to say just because Bush did something he thought was “right” for the nation, doesn’t cover for

what is truly “right”. A pastor killed a doctor who performed abortions because he thought what he was

doing was “right”. I’m not going to pretend like I know everything about US politics because I

don’t. It’s all quite confusing to me actually. I sit through an episode of the West Wing wondering how it is a

president gets elected or a senator comes into power. However I don’t think George Bush has done right by his

country or the world. I think I have the right to say the world because the president of the US is often reffered

to as the “Leader of the Free World”. I think the US has bullied other nations into joining the War on

Terror. I think George Bush is doing what is good for his daddy’s companies and his cronies businesses.

"oh I’ve got a good idea, lets pretend that Iraq has weapons of mass destruction and invade them

and remove saddam and steal the oil. Oh and because we can call it War, lets give the military supplies contract

to one of daddy’s companies that produces it all and daddy can become mega-rich. And lets remove all of these

peoples rights and get permission to do so by telling congress its all part of us being in this war on

terror."

And lastly, in what instance did George Bush execute something on 9/11 that deserved to be

lauded?

Do you honestly

think that the President’s main goal is to make his father wealthy?

I have

my own thoughts and opinions but I am just going to stay out of this

well I don’t think it’s his main goal.

Certainly one of his goals though. Run a country, give military contracts to daddy and Dick and let them get

super-rich from needless wars. The sooner Dubbyah is out of power, the better. This doesn’t mean I side with the

terrorists or think Saddam was a great guy. Both a terrible, but there are better ways of dealing with things

than war. War was just a really good option for ol’ George because it meant that Daddy and Dick and the rest of

his cronies get lots of money from war supplies contracts.

I’m

sure that his father’s (And Cheney’s) wealth was the farthest thing from his mind, my friend.

Haha, oops

Haha. I think I’m just gonna stay out of

this thread

Me too.

I’m sorry but I am going to have to disagree with you there. But we are all

entitled to our own opinions. Hope we can still be friends though!

Of course! Friendship should never be put in

jeopardy because of politics. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah,

sorry the global media likes to forget that we DID find WMDs in Iraq. They really like to forget that over here

too but there WERE WMDs and we have proof that Sadam Hussein WAS seeking nuclear weapons and that he was in talks

with Al Qaida. Of course I can’t expect too many non-Americans to be moved by that since not too many other

nations would be high on his list of priority targets.

I would also hardly say other nations have been

“bullied” into joining the War on Terror. Last time I checked we hadn’t forced another country to

commit funds or troops on the threat of anihilation. We’ve cut ties with some countries that have opted to stay

“neutral” since there’s obviously no need to support them since they seem to believe they’re

invulnerable to terrorism and don’t require our existance to ensure theirs. That’s ok though, because now that

we know which of our neighbors aren’t interested in helping us assure our very survival I think we know where

our time, money, and efforts are going to waste.

And would you people PLEASE get off of this oil bit???

Do you know how much oil the US has received from Iraq since the war began??? ZERO!!! Perhaps you haven’t

heard but or gas prices have nearly doubled in that time. The money from all of this is going into rebuilding

the nation of Iraq. They sell their oil and it goes to other nations in the region that will buy it. We still

get the bulk of ours from the Saudi’s and a handful of other friendly Arab states.

Of course the big news

flash in all of this is that defense contracts are going to the same people that had them before the war. The

same people that have had them going all the way back Nam - long before the Bush’s and the Cheney’s came into

power. And where’s this money coming from??? Not Iraq as we’ve already cleared that up - it’s coming from

the American people. But ya know here’s the kicker. Unemployment and poverty are at some of their lowest

levels in US history much like they were during NAM, Korea, and the 2 World Wars. See a pattern? Think it could

have anything to do with the fact that more people get employed in good paying jobs with good benefits to make

these munitions?

Also, no American has lost ANY rights. I challenge one American to show me a right that

has been taken away from them.

And lastly, what deserves to be lauded about President Bush on 9/11. First

let’s look at what he didn’t do. He didn’t go in, guns ablazing blowing the hell out of the Middle East the

next day. Afghanistan was the only nation with which our relationship changed following the attack. He didn’t

try to assume control of the situation on the ground and be the big hero. He let the natural order of government

take its course to maxmize its efforts. He didn’t try to seize power in the government by declaring Marshall

Law or even assert his authority over the military which would have been his Constitutional right. Now what did

he do? He ordered the nation back to work and school the next day, minimizing ecconomic destruction. He

returned to Washington that night against the will of the Secret Service to reassure the people of National

Security. He ordered the Vice-President into hiding at an undisclosed location to ensure a continuity of

Government in the future.

I make no appologies for anything this nation has done. We’ve gone out of our

way to protect innocent lives at the expense of our own money, time, and fine young men and women. We’ve worked

to spread freedom and democracy throughout the world by strengthening our allies and forging new ones across the

globe. If you don’t want to get involved then don’t but don’t expect us to be all buddy-buddy and supportive

of your decision. We’ve given quite a bit to this world since December 7, 1941 (for those of you down on your

history that’s the day that Japan told us we could never again be isolationists). Since then we’ve fought back

with our allies the impending danger of first Germany and then the Soviet Union. Now we’ve been told not to

worry the UN can handle it. September 11, 2001 told us no they can’t and things really aren’t that different

than in 1941. The only difference now is our enemy is a scum that fights not under the guise of any one nation

but behind the human shields of innocent men, women, and children. It’s not always pleasant what we must do but

we’ve given a lot for this Earth; do not ask us to sacrifice our own security here at home now too.

God

bless America!

And yes - at the end of

the day I hope we are all still friends united in our common passions.

But I do think it is important to

have discussions like this where we explore our differences. Only then can we fully understand one another and

begin to blaise new trails together where we reach across ideological lines and work together and overcome those

odds.

Dash does his homework.

I’m afraid I will have to step

out now as well, since I’m not part of the US. But hey, I’m up for a Canadian politics discussion when the time

comes. :stuck_out_tongue:

Heheh – yeah, there ya’ go! I was just thinking about that

earlier, actually. No matter what our views and opinions, we all manage to get along quite peacefully

Ah- Politics! I think i’m just going to stick to animation, its a lot less

frightening

Do you like the current Prime Minister, Steve Harper? I haven’t live in Canada for

the past 7 years, so I have kind of fallen out of Canadian politics.

We might as well rename this thread

to the politics thread

I am a Conservative, and do support Stephen

Harper. The conservative party only has a minority government over Canada, but I’m glad the Liberals lost power

because their party was corrupt and did nothing for our country. Liberals like to refer to Harper as

“Bush’s lacky” and stuff like that, because they think the two are so much alike
 and Canadians just

don’t want to be like America. I disagree with this
 but
 well
I’ll only go full throttle if there are

other Canadians who are willing to debate.
