Geez, people, whatever happened to spoiler warnings in here? O.o
Anyways, I have a theory about [spoil]the plant[/spoil] from this clip. According to the basic plot synopsis available in the about section of the official website, [spoil]WALL-E finds something that could be the key to Earth’s salvation.[/spoil] So, my guess is [spoil]this little plant is it[/spoil]. Just a theory though.
This is just a guess on what the plant if for. [spoil] I think that since the escape pod is supposed to be heading towards Earth, the plant is sent to Earth to bring vegetaiton back to it. [/spoil]
Am I wrong, or did Wall-E just say [spoil]“plant”? I know EVE said it, but it’s been said twice, so did Wall-E also say it? [/spoil]
And in the trailer, and the vaccuum vignette, there was a cockroach…? Is that an actual character, Wall-E’s pet, or something? Is the cockroach going to be important? Reminds me of Mulan’s cricket.
[spoil]That’s kinda what I was thinking, though seeing how they left it alone in the pod, I was thinking maybe they were trying to get rid of it, like forget about it. Meanwhile, the heroes want to use it to save the world. Maybe I’m reading into this too much.[/spoil]
You just now noticed him? He’s been in quite a few of the trailers. It’s gotta be a pet.
[spoil]As far as I’ve gathered, Eve’s job is to recon the Earth and determine if it’s ready for re-habitation or not. She find the plant and brings it back to the ship as a sign of progress, but the other robot, for some reason, doesn’t want the plant discovered and thus puts it in the escape pod to get rid of it. So there’s some force on the ship actively trying to make the humans stay there.[/spoil]
About bad robots…MAJOR SPOILER…you’ve been warned.
[spoil]AUTO is the main villain. He (or BnL’s programming of him) has to make sure that humans are never getting back to Earth. The GO-4 robots are somekind of henchmen for AUTO. They are ordered to get rid of the “evidence”. There are also those other “guiding robots” in the trailer (the “HOLD!” guys). Those have weapons, too.
In one trailer you can see the captain of the Axiom arguing with Auto. Captain “Earths in trouble” while holding the plant, Auto: “We cannot go home.”
The captain also holds a book in one of the released pictures. The title of the book is “OPERATION RECOLONIZE - Captains Manual” and it has a litte plant icon (like the one on EVE) on it. It’s written by BnL so I would expect it is filled with regulations you can never fullfill or even worse (useless) garbage.
WALL-E influences other robots or the humans so much that they overcome their programming (or their daily habits like consuming all day long while drinking liquified food). Auto cannot rise above his programming. That’s his flaw (and that means a lot of problems for WALL-E and EVE). [/spoil]
As pathetic as this is, I actually starting to feel tears build up towards the end. I don’t know if they were happy tears or “that’s so sweet” tears, or some other kind of tears…they’re still going down my face. I’m going to get my sister to watch it.
[spoil]There was quite a bit of emotion in that scene, no? It’s really obvious that EVE has a lot of feelings for WALL-E.[/spoil]
Hmmm… I may beg to differ. Just a theory, but, [spoiler]I mean, yes, she seems to care about him. Yes. But I’m not sure if at that point it would be feelings or a strong friendship (and be feelings later. You know it’ll happen. Disney just doesn’t have uber sad endings like that for the hero…But this is a odd movie… Actually, I really don’t know what’s gonna happen anymore. O.o). It could be either. I have this theory that EVE is gonna kinda slowly warm up to him. But we really need to see the clip in context to know for sure. I mean, they could have just come from Earth or it could be at some point later. Who knows? WALL-E is totally in love tough. Oh gosh, THE HAND THING. I loved that.
Yeah, it’s a “wait for the movie” thing though. Debate won’t solve anything now. BRING ON JUNE 27TH![/spoiler]
Netbug009 - You’re telling me. The closer this film’s release date draws nearer to the horizon… the more I experience snippets of my childhood – sights, sounds, smells, and various other sensations that were once long forgotten. It’s incredible…
Oh, but I’m wandering from the subject a bit. I’d best get back on-topic. Heheh.
Tonight there was another, Pixar-gloating ABC special hosted by John Goodman promoting both Disneyworld’s new Pixar attractions and the Pixar Short Films collection DVD. It ran for three hours and showed Monsters Inc. and a sneak peek at Presto. The problem is I didn’t watch it until the end because I was too caught up in Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade!!
Was there a clip of WALL-E? I saw the shorts Jack-Jack Attack, Mike’s New Car, and For the Birds, plus a few WALL-E vignettes (headphones and hula hoop). Anyone with details please reply!
As much as I like Pixar, I feel that they kinda wasted an hour of programming with that special. And I didn’t even watch the Presto sneak peak because I just had enough of those.
