Stealing Revealed

Okay, [b:145gdgn2]JV[/b:145gdgn2]. I changed my sig because your new one is practically the same. Now you’re using my new sig as your avatar.

:-\

~~=oP

I didn’t even notice that.

The heck you didn’t.

And what’s worse is that I just discovered your cousin (or whomever [b:15pstkxv]Pixar Lover![/b:15pstkxv] is) has stolen the very same sig directly from my Photobucket account and is currently using it over at Pixar World[/url:15pstkxv]! A right-click on the image and selection of Properties is all the evidence I needed, and I highly doubt [b:15pstkxv]PL![/b:15pstkxv] is Tony_Rydingers_Girl. :-\

Where do you guys get the nerve?! You copy practically everything from poor Thomas’s excellent blog and Pixar Planet. Even members of your forum complain about your plagiarism, and to avoid confrontation, you delete their posts and/or lock the threads. How immature and unprofessional.

Pixar will NEVER hire any of you if you go through life leeching off of hardworking people. None of you have an original bone in your bodies.

And now it’s personal. I’m actually sick to my stomach. You’re learning the hard way not to peeve off [b:15pstkxv]PV[/b:15pstkxv]. You’re all on thin ice in my book, buster.

~~=oP

oooooooooooooo, BUSTED.

Times TWO,

Is there something burning?, or is that just the smoke coming outta PV’s ears right now?..

Wow. I see where you’re coming from PV, because I would be really PO’d if someone stole my graphics. That’s not right. They should make their own or request. :stuck_out_tongue:

This goes beyond graphics theft since the image in question was just a still from an otherwise widely available animation. The issue here is bandwidth theft which can actually be construed as a crime. Fortunately in this case the damage is minimal but the same act in a different manner could be quite harmful to the victim. I would not tollerate this on Pixar Planet and the offender would be immediately suspended if not banned. I hope these people seriously reconsider their own policies ASAP otherwise I hate to consider the alternatives.

Oh, I could picture the steam shooting out of your ears when I read that one, PV . That has got to be your biggest outburst yet, but you had every right to make it. You’re right, where do some people get the nerve to do that?!!! People have stolen ideas from me in the past as well (not on Pixar Planet, thank god) , and I always have a similar reaction to what you had. Please guys, be oringinal for a change and don’t leech off of PV . She’s the sweetest person I know and the last that deserves any of it. While I’m at it, don’t bother to leech off anyone else. That only leads to more breakdowns.

I’m forever on you’re side, PV .

I’m a very sorry for all of this. It is not me, It is my ignorant brothers and sister who will not listen to me. Please do ban all of them but please do not ban me. I’ve told them to delete that stupid copycat website Pixar World but they like it. I’m very sorry to all especially Dash and PV. Please forgive me!

Credit Where Credit Is Due

Frankly it’s disgraceful and disgusting and down right immature. I could actually see the lot of you failing when you make it college/university for blatant plagiarism and academic dishonesty.

Here’s some links the lot of you could use…

Harvard Referencing
Plagiarism
Paraphrase

These links are courtesy of the ever useful Google.com and Wikipedia.org.

As a blogger, who has worked extremely hard over the past 3 years to get his blog to the No. #5 position for the search term "Pixar;, I know it would hurt if someone stole my hard work and tried to pass it off as their own. Even though I consider blogging a form of journalism, there doesn’t seem to be any body that governs us in the same was a there is a body that governs newspapers, magazines, television etc. Here are two quotes:

“In journalism, plagiarism is considered a breach of journalistic ethics, and reporters caught plagiarizing typically face disciplinary measures ranging from suspension to termination.” (Wikipedia.org, 2007)

“While plagiarism in scholarship and journalism has a centuries-old history, the development of the Internet, where articles appear as electronic text, has made the physical act of copying the work of others much easier, simply by copying and pasting text from one web page to another.” (Wikipedia.org, 2007)

People spend a lot of time writing stories, term papers, academic papers, blog posts, making images, the list goes on forever. For someone to blatantly copy and steal their work without proper referencing or permission is plagiarism and above all a stab in the back to the person who has spent that time creating that work.

I am 100% on the side of PV here. For someone to enter someone else’s hosting site and just steal their images is plain wrong. They don’t even bother to download the image and re-upload it to their own hosting site. They didn’t even bother to take 2 seconds to email or PM that user and ask them for permission to use that image. They then take that image and worst of all, use it as their sig on their cheap imitation of a Pixar Planet site, called Pixar World! It’s rude and dishonest and I have read some of the posts there and it is highly immature.

You should all be ashamed. Very, very, ashamed.

P.S. If you would like to use any of my post, please use the correct referencing provided.

So am I.

PixarVixen and bawpcwpn - -raises hand- I used Cars screenshot images from DrewsterHotRod’s photobucket account to make some things, but I gave credit to her for it. Does this also count as stealing? :frowning: (And I’d rather stay out of the dilemma on this board)

Well, getting permission and giving credit should go hand-in-hand, but I don’t see why some people feel the need to infiltrate another person’s account.

This is the second incident involving a person stealing a sig from my album, and I honestly don’t feel safe using Photobucket anymore.

~~=oP

I must admit that I have probably posted a blog entry or two over here from Thomas’ blog, totally forgetting to reference where I got it from. I will try my best to reference should I do this, in the future. Taking someone’s signature and using it as your own is just plain wrong on a morality level, not to mention it is bandwidth theft. If someone ever used any of my sigs without giving credit, especially on a different forum, I’d be very disappointed.

And also, I can’t believe that Pixar World is still up and running! I really didn’t think it would last this long. Maybe they keep members over there by granting everyone with either mod or admin status. :unamused:

I believe I’ve stated this before, but there really is no need for Pixar World because the gap has already been filled by Pixar Planet a long time ago. It’s like reinventing the wheel for goodness sake. But I would be very surprised if the average age of the admins and mods over there exceeded 14 years, so it seems age and (lack of) maturity has a lot to do with it. I’ve also noted that there are familiar faces from Pixar Planet over at Pixar World. I can’t believe any member over here would do that, or would want to be associated with the copycat forum. You know who you are.

Anyway, hopefully things will be learned by both sides in all of this, and we can take something from it.

I disagree with alot of their practices. As some of you know I am a member there. What you don’t know is that Im a Admin there dusgised as a mod. There has been times that I wanted to ban them all off their own forum. But I don’t because it’s not moraly right and legal. They have been banning people for no good reasons. The copy lots of topics that are found on here. (Now some times when I post a topic on a forum. And I copy that topic the other forums. I have only copied at the most; two topics I have made here to there.) The freeforums support forum members hate them due to their actions(freeforums is the host for their forum). Ther are curently plans to call Remy’s and Texas Loves Pixar’s ISP’s due to some actions done by Texas Loves Pixar. If you want to find out more about the actions done by TLP. PM me or IM me and I give you all the info inculding some chats I have had with TLP. Im not telling that info here because i don’t think this topic is the best place to show it.

Edit: I ment only the admins to PM or IM me

PV - Yeah, you’re right… I really should ask permission next time, even though Drewster didn’t mind.

I just had a peek at that place; I’m amazed that some of the people can actually be bothered visiting both sites. O.o

Sounds like a bunch of kids with nothing better to do…Or grown men with no lives. XD

Texas Loves Pixar!: - Why are you plagiarising my work?! :imp:

Exhibit A:

Exhibit B:

Granted, it was just a few pictures taken with a camera-phone, with a bit of an explanation, but you passed it off as your own, without even asking for permission or giving me credit. Would have really been that hard to go to your local store and take photos of the PEZ yourself? I do it all the time because I like showing other people on these forums the merchandise available, and pictures are good to look at for a change. It really isn’t that hard to go and do it yourself.

So as of now there are two people out of your small forum who have displayed tendancies to steal and post others’ work as their own. And you know the saying: “For every rat you see, there’s 50 you don’t”. What else have you been passing off as your own? Why is your oh-so-original “graphics and icons” sub-forum locked to the general public? What are you hiding? If you had anyone’s work from here posted up, I wouldn’t be surprised quite frankly.

So, as of now, TLP and any other thieving member from Pixar World, I do not want anything to do with you. You should be ashamed of yourselves, and grow up and get a life.

I think I speak for a number of PP members when I say that this is wrong, rude, dishonest and inconsiderate.

If I died right now I would like my gravestone to read…

“Here Lies Thomas Huxley
And He Is
Bloody Annoyed”

Paraphrased from Blackadder Goes Forth, in case you are wondering.

Here’s some food for thought. Pixar World has been deleated twice by their host. Right Now this is curently the third Pixar World which is up and running. On the same host even.
