Stealing Revealed

Only thing I can think of is to report Pixar Word to their host, Feeforums.

Now im going to honest about somthing, The Show Yourself I made was not entierly my idea to began with. (But at the same time there are probly thousand of those threads across the internet too.) I got the idea from a thread of the almost the same name on a site called Ben Heck.com. They call their version of the thread Show us yourself. Here the link to the thread on there: forums.benheck.com/viewtopic.php?t=15668&start=0 . Now please note that the difrance between the the first post in that topic at ben heck and the topic here on PP. Their not the same. Now I had no intechions to commet Plagiarism when I made that topic. I just thought the idea would be cool to have here, thats all.

The “Show Yourself” idea was a great thing, first of all. Plus, I don’t think anyone can really copyright that sort of thing. :stuck_out_tongue: I’m guessing many other message boards have the same sort of thread. So don’t worry!

NEEEEEEEEEEEERDS!

And Proud of it!! :stuck_out_tongue:

rachel - It’s freakin’ low! I’m don’t hate any one individual for carrying out this act, but I do agree that it’s a rather…“inappropriate” thing to initiate.

nightwheel - Just because one person does something doesn’t mean that everybody else should do it too, as it might just be the wrong thing to do. Of course, if it’s legal then that’s perfectly fine with me. Heck, the whole “Show Yourself” deal is no “biggie”. I just don’t appreciate it when someone deliberately copies someone’s work without turning a hair and/or crediting the originator… :unamused:

And anyway, it wouldn’t really matter if another forum had a few of the same topics here and there, but it’s pretty obvious that Pixar World copies everything about this forum: the forums, sub-forums, threads, groups, and the list goes on. It’s too much of a coincidence.

It makes me want to say this. Why join a copy site, when the original can give you so much more, and it is and will always be better too.

rachel - Yes, exactly. It’s almost as if they printed out Pixar Planet page for page without giving it a moment’s thought… :unamused:

The Star Swordsman - You took the words right out of my mouth, dude.

– Mitch

I mean, is there anything that we can do about it or something?

IMO, there is no point trying to do anything about it, as this is the Internet after all. And what they are doing is so petty and childish (they are children running it), that it’s best to ignore them. People have cottoned on to their practises, anyway and hopefully the novelty of running a forum/website will wear off soon. :unamused:

Geez, I hope it’s not too late to comment… :unamused:

But, y’know, one of the reasons I didn’t join Pixar World was that, when it was created, I thought it was a total rip-off of Pixar Planet. I was pretty suspicious when I first read the site’s name…
But now…

I think they’ve gone too far.

I think in light of recent events, here is a lesson on how not to plagiarise with thanks to the University of New South Wales.

Avoiding Plagiarism.

Alright, Pixar World is not the problem here. It’s the founders. That site could be non-plagiarism, but it’ll be hard to convince Remy and TLP. You see, I am an administrator of Pixar World, have been since June. I’m there mainly to code stuff and manage the forums…I completely disagree with most of the stuff Remy and TLP do. And so does Killjoy, iampoor, nightwheel, and just about all the mature members there. I had no idea that site was an exact replica of Pixar Planet until recently, mainly because I don’t come here often…If there were mature staff, and someone who could take control it would be non-plagiarism. Remy and TLP have been committing crime across the internet, TLP gave the Unrestricted Forum a virus. He threatened iampoor for stupid reasons. I have nothing against Remy and TLP, I know them very, very well. But they should step down, they are making hundreds of enemies from here, TUF, And the freeforums.org support forum. They don’t know what they’re doing wrong. I’m pretty sure Remy and TLP have autism, a mental disorder. I don’t want to see Pixar World shut down, but only changed. Changed so it does not copy Pixar Planet and has mature staff. I could easily take control of the forums, I’m an admin. Jackal of the Freeforums.org organization is going to contact their ISPs soon. So I vote no one gets it shut down, but it be changed to not plagiarize. It contains a lot of effort from Me, Nightwheel, killjoy and the mature people…I’ll try to talk to them in the IRC about what they are doing, yet again. Thankyou for your cooperation. And Pixar Lover! is only 12, she doesn’t know any better to know what plagiarism means…

That’s why I didn’t join pixarwolrd (doesn’t deserve capitalization or correct spelling). And yes, they’ve gone way too far. They need to be shut down…again. :imp:

Pixar World spammed me on Pixar Planet itself and i bet tehy did the same to many other’s and I’m embarassed to say after long thought I joined with pity for the staff. Then they kept on urging me to come back when i realized it was a total rip off. I wish I had never done that and it’s so annoying taht I can’t be deleted. I REALLy wnat the site to go offline.

Retromaster- I respect what you’re saying, and understand that you and others have put a lot of work into Pixar World, but my question is, what’s the point of Pixar World? It just seems to me that it was created by people that have been on this forum, saw how successful it was here, and liked the idea of creating their own forum so they could have something to be in charge of, and to be in a position of power.

Holy cannoli, they copied this site down to the forum descriptions.
That’s just… wow. That’s special.

In any case, I don’t know if I should be offended, or flattered because it’s an admin. Kind of like how fashion designers always want celebrities to wear their clothes. Except without the money part or the credit or the fabric or any of that.

But since even the members there know about the plagiarism I’m not sure I should even bother pointing it out to them. Mostly I don’t really feel like registering there, I suppose.

Oh, boy. :unamused:

I am disappointed that they stole your avvie, kageri. But looking back on all of the other stuff they have stolen, I’m not at all surprised that the site’s owner stole it. I think that speaks volumes about their morals, and overall site’s integrity (or lack of). You certainly display a lot of patience seeing as if I was in the same sitch (and I have been), I would let them have it. Heh.

I’ve gotten two emails asking me to come to pixarwolrd (still doesn’t deserve capitalization or correct spelling). I’m going to search the site soon to see if they stole anything of mine. If so, they’re in for a not-so-good surprise… :smiling_imp:

A113, please forward the emails to me.

Whenever you guys receive ANYTHING from Pixar World, contact me or another administrative staff member.
