Tangled

Oh my God…That’s gorgeous! I’m gonna ADORE this soundtrack!

AHH!! I’m not reading the spoilers… though really, really tempting…

And I probably won’t listen to the soundtrack til I see the movie, either. It’s just something I do, so the whole movie is a surprise to me. From the reviews, though, it’s going to be amazing. Everything from the music to the story to the action and heart. I can’t wait. This will be my driving force through school!! “One more day down… one more day closer to Tangled…”

I’m a sucker for spoilers. I always say I won’t read them, but I always end up reading them!

That sounds just absolutely gorgeous. <3 Seriously, Mandy’s voice has improved SO MUCH since the first time I heard her sing in 2000. I have no doubts she’s going to do great as Rapunzel.

But anyway… leaving that aside, it’s pretty amazing how people build a really strong opinion on something that’s not even out yet. There are actually a lot of people who are already saying that they really hate the film, and they won’t be seeing it because of the changes Disney they did in it, and potentially other reasons too… plus I came across one person just now who claimed that it’s an insult how the original Prince was changed to a Bandit, whose just a “recycled Naveen.”

Yeah I know people have different opinions and I should respect it and ignore it. And his opinion was fine, up until the part where he claimed that Flynn was just a “recycled Naveen.” No, just… no. That’s just stupid. Just because Flynn is a “ladies man” like how Naveen is, doesn’t mean their personalities are essentially the same, or that Flynn’s character is just a “recycled version” of Naveen’s. Flynn is definitely going to have his own UNIQUE personality in this movie.

Also, I get really annoyed and tired of people saying that Disney “ruins” the original fairy tale. Fairy tales have ALWAYS been re-told and changed even from the earliest human civilization. Even some of Hans Christian Anderson’s fairy tales weren’t originals; they were also re-told and changed, but no, I don’t see anybody attacking/criticizing him for that, do I? >___>;; See? THIS is why I’m really glad that Disney changed the title from Rapunzel to Tangled, because then you’d have every single bloody purist on the face of the earth like this guy complaining that they’re not sticking to the original source material. If you want a faithful adaptation of fairy tales, then don’t bother watching any of Disney’s films, because they’re FAR off from the original source material. Just search the original stories on google and fap to that instead of complaining what Disney is doing wrong.

(EIDT; I realized this is probably the first angry post that I’ve done on PP, so I apologize for that :X I was just really angry, so I’m really sorry if I offended anyone. I just needed to vent.)

^ No, you’re perfectly justified. Let’s see, this is how I remember the tale of Rapunzel…

A woman got pregnant, but she had the obsessive need of the Rapunzel plant found only in a witch’s garden to survive. The husband snuck into the garden to get it, until he was caught. Explaining his reasons, the witch agreed to let him and his wife live as long as they gave her their child. She named the child Rapunzel, after the plant. She left the child in a tower for years, and used her hair to climb into it. A prince came along, and, imitating the witch, got Rapunzel to throw down her hair. He climbed up, and they fell in love. They, um, “lay” together. Later, the witch was putting on the girl’s dress, and its strangely too small, if you know what I mean. Realizing what happened, the witch cuts off her hair and sends her into the desert, where she has her twins. The witch then waits for the prince, sending him the hair when he calls, and when he comes up, she throws him down the tower and he is blinded when he lands. He wanders around, blind, until I think like years later he finally wanders into the desert where she is with their children and her tears heal his eyesight.

'Cause, you know, Disney could have just told that story exactly the way it was. Hey, its not like Alan Menkin couldn’t write a catchy song about an illegitimate teen pregnancy! Whoo!

^ That made me laugh.

Thank you all for the wonderful (and honest) reactions to the trailer! Happy to see that most - if not all - of you are excited for the movie. I realize you do have concerns about the movie - but just know we’re very proud of it and very excited for everyone to see it. Tangled is our 50th animated feature (can you believe it?!) so we do want it to stand out. It will have everything that made our past features “classics” so to speak - great music, great animation and a great story. I think you’ll like the fun, adventure and romance that’s typical of our movies but it’s also got a nice twist with two really strong lead characters, especially our heroine. Add to that Alan Menken’s music and an amazing cast to bring those songs to life - and hopefully we have something that everyone, young and old, male and female, Disney fan or not, will enjoy

Also thank you to Pizza Planet Truck and Danachii for sharing links to interviews, reviews, etc  I can always trust you guys to be on top of everything!

I’m just wondering how her [spoil]hair can change colors[/spoil]. I trust Disney, but I get nervous every time they put something out, since they haven’t done really amizingly well in the box office since Lilo and Stitch…

hmm, I was wondering the same thing IV. Although I’m thinking that it represents [spoil]the magic in her hair dying[/spoil] I know I didn’t mention this, but [spoil]Mother Gothel fatally injures Flynn, or “Eugene” when he climbs up her hair, much like the fairytale. But you see, Flynn cuts her hair so that the magic is gone and the magic in her hair dies. But, then when Flynn “dies”, she cries and when a tear hits his cheek he comes back to life because the magic wasn’t only in her hair, it was insider her. [/spoil]

Hmmm…that’s weird, but it should make for a very unique Disney movie.

Some new photographs Disney recently released: stitchkingdom.com/disney-new … haracters/

It’s basically from that same Tangled press event that I talked about a couple of posts back. These are just some of the photographs that were taken of the crew. Mandy, Zach and even Alan Menken are there too.

Yeah, I have to say that despite my growing concerns and issues over some of the marketing decisions that you guys made, I just know that the actual film is going to be absolutely wonderful and breathtaking. I just wish certain other people would give it a chance too. :\ It’s kind of stupid to hate a movie before it’s even out, but whatever. Their loss, I guess. shrugs

Also, you’re welcome. xDDD I always seemed to be up to date with my Tangled news for some reason. I guess I’m just that excited and eager about the movie, lol~

Rapunzel is SO beautiful! I love her hair and costume, with all honesty, that’s probably the prettiest picture of a Princess in the park.

And I wouldn’t mind meeting that Flynn myself. Not as cute as Naveen, but still,

To take Pizza Planet Truck’s lead in the LOTG thread, I hereby nominate Danachii as the official Pixar Planet Forums Tangled Spokesperson. You can retire now, DisneyMovies, heheh. :stuck_out_tongue:

No, I’m just kidding, DisneyMovies. Thanks for listening to the fans, you have realized that there are a lot of people excited for this film… we have faith this will be spectacular… don’t disappoint us!

And thanks for the link Danachii. Nice that Mr Hawaiian-Shirt Man made a cameo! Though, I have to wonder, what’s up with Flynn’s lipstick?

Thanks for the link, Danachii!! I’m a toy collector, so sadly, the Rapunzel Barbie was what caught my eye. How cute!!

Ooof - I hope we don’t! Again, I really do appreciate the honest (and very civil - hard to find on the Internet!) feedback.

I don’t think this has been posted before - but an interview with Zachary Levi is over on Collider. Did you know that he’s a self-professed “Disney freak”?

You’re welcome, everyone!

LOL. 8D Yaaay! I’m glad and honored to be the Tangled spokesperson here. xDD <3

That’s actually the main reason why I’ve been avoiding Facebook like a plaque. There’s a whole lot of stupidity, closed-mindedness, pessimism and uncivil discussions over there regarding this film, especially about the CGI. It’s like people are so blinded by nostalgia that they’re convinced that Disney should NOT do CGI, nevermind the fact that Disney has always been innovative. No way have they ever just stuck with one style. They’ve always explored different mediums, pushed the boundaries of film-making and explored their horizons to develop newer and better techniques. They’re not JUST going to do 2D - they’re going to do 2D, CGI, live-action, etc, etc.

Well that was certainly an interesting read! I totally ADORE Zach, and I love how he’s so passionate about Disney and Pixar just as much as all of us here. I loved that interview!

But then how would you keep up-to-date with all things Tangled, Danachii? :frowning: The impression I get is that Disney always breaks news first on FB.

And yes, I agree with you on optimism. I just get annoyed when people unnecessarily hate on a movie (unless it’s obviously meant to make money like ‘Vampires Suck’ or something) without seeing it first. Criticise it, but constructively. And of course, fan-gushing is always welcome, although one looks less objective if one does so.

Not always on Facebook. I have other ways I keep up to date, and even though Facebook is one of them, I go to other sources too. You’d be surprised at what Disney doesn’t post up on FB.

And also, it’s mainly on Disney Animation’s Facebook page where all the drama llama happens. I’m still on another page called Disney’s Tangled. It’s a lot better in there instead because people talk enthusiastically about the movie, rather than being all like: “I wish it was in 2D!!” or some other repetitive and annoying complaints like that.

YES. My sentiments exactly.

I’ve seen people hating on this film and saying they won’t be seeing it just because of the CGI. Or the fact that they changed the original fairy tale way too much. Both of these reasons, IMO, are pretty shallow and stupid. I don’t like how people are so stubborn and narrow-minded about Disney doing CGI Animation. Seriously, CGI isn’t “soulless” or “lifeless” and I always have this need to bang my head against the wall everytime I see somebody on FB and dA claiming that. It CAN be beautiful and expressive just as much as 2D, especially if it’s done right (like how Pixar does it). And Tangled really looks like it’s going to be absolutely wonderful. I mean, just compare the animation of Chicken Little to the animation of Tangled; Disney has REALLY come a long way since then, and they only keep getting better and better.

But seriously, you guys just don’t know how many headaches I had to endure everytime I went digging around for news and updates on this movie. The internet spreads so much pessimism, hate and negativity, and it’s really REALLY good at it.

I’m actually excited for this. My dad wants to take me to a movie to apologize(really? :unamused:  )

Seriously, I’m getting tired of people acting like they know what Disney can and can’t do. Its just pretentiousness. Whenever I read the comments, I can’t help but imagine them sounding like Linkara’s Superboy-Prime voice.

Skip to 8:25 to hear it (or watch the entire video. Its one of my favorites of his, and I love him.) Now imagine this said with that voice:

“Why isn’t this in 2D!? CGI is flat and lifeless! 2D is ARTISTIC! Disney should listen to ME, because I know better than EVERYONE.”

Fits uncannily, don’t it?
