Well that’s certainly a first. Usually I see people pefering 2D over CGI, so your post was very refreshing, IV.
OMG I AGREE. I stopped watching the film after the first ten minutes. Pretty much every very single character is a rip-off of Disney’s characters, the pacing is completely inconsistent, the plot makes absolutely no sense whatsoever, and the animation is HORRIBLE. The singing/talking animals are so obnoxious that it even puts Disney to shame (like the dancing mice and the rapping dog, ugh.)
But anyway, that review was absolutely hilarious. xDDDD I LOLed so much through it, and I agree with pretty much everything he said.
I stopped going on IMDB for the exact same reason I stopped going on Facebook; because of the constant pessimism, negativity and stupidity. But that’s still good to hear. :'D I’m glad that people are enjoying it so much. I personally really loved Princess and the Frog though, but I know I’m going to be totally all over Tangled when it comes out. <3
It even includes new extended footage from the previous featurette we saw! We even get a sneak peak of Mother Gothel!!
EDIT; DFHJSFH:IEWHFKSGLJSD spazzes OMG DID ANYBODY ELSE SQUEED AT THE PART [spoil]WHERE FLYNN WAS LOOKING AT RAPUNZEL REALLY SWEETLY AND CUPS HER CHIN WITH HIS HANDS?!? Omg I died on the inside… IT WAS SO UTTERLY CUTE AND ROMANTIC!! <3[/spoil]
Wow, it just keeps getting better and better. I’m still wondering what is keeping Rapunzel in that tower (a magical force-field that is destroyed the moment a dude shows up?)… Pascal and Max could quite possibly be the next ‘Meeko and Percy’… they’re such funny animal sidekicks! I bet there is more to Mother Gothel than meets the eye, and that hopefully she’s not just a [spoil]straightforward villain[/spoil]. Oh yeah, the bit where Flynn slides down the almost-vertical roof looked thrilling! And of course, the extended bit to the ‘Smoulder’ scene makes him look like such a dork!
I really can’t wait for this. Perfect way to end the year.
I spoiled myself at Barnes and Noble over the weekend, but the story is so good, I’m sort of happy I did.
The featurette is awesome!
I squeed like a mad fangirl at the same part as you, Danachii!
Somehow I’m getting the feeling that Rapunzel [spoil]probably didn’t know that her hair was magical and that she could use it’s powers to escape until Flynn shows up, and something happens that triggers that magic[/spoil]. It makes sense if you think about it, but then again, with Disney, you never know.
And if anyone DOES know… then don’t tell me. I don’t want to be spoiled, lol. D: Like I said, I want to be surprised when I go to see the movie in November.
Yes I TOTALLY agree with you, ellie-jessie-eve! Rapunzel is getting more and more beautiful within every promo still Disney releases one after the next. She’s definitely very fit to be a Princess.
I mean, this movie is looking TOTALLY amazing already IMO. You have an unbelievably hot thief, and a beautiful young princess, throw in some chemistry and you have one hell of a juicy couple. <3 Plus the animal sidekicks ARE SO CUTE! They’re mute and they actually don’t talk, which is what makes them so adorable and appealing characters.
Thanks for the image Danachii! Mother Gothel looks interesting. And her apperance is totally the opposite of what you think of in the original fairy tale!
I’m sad. I made a really pretty (if I do say so myself ) tribute to Tangled to “Drops of Jupiter,” but for some reason YouTube isn’t letting me upload it.
Woohooo~ this thing is 39 pages long and the movie won’t even be out until two months from now. It’s pretty amazing how active this thread has been. xDD Looks like everyone here caught the Tangled fever.
You’re welcome!
Actually, she looks like that [spoil]because the magic in Rapunzel’s hair keeps her young. She’s actually supposed to be a really old lady, lol[/spoil]. But I agree with you, her design definitely looks interesting.
I read that just a few minutes ago while browsing around on StitchKingdom. It was definitely a very interesting read, and Alan Menken’s work on Tangled is definitely something to look forward to, especially since he mentioned that the score mainly focuses on folk music and how it was inspired by Joni Mitchell. I can’t wait to hear how the rest of the songs in the movie sound like!
Don’t know if this has been posted, but Deadline Hollywood has an interesting review on the preview screening held recently for critics.
I really can’t wait to hear Mother Gothel’s song ‘Mother Knows Best’. As well as the rest of the soundtrack- which apparently has:
The thing that concerns me is the article says they are only 60% through the animation (which is just past halfway) and the article is dated early September. As I’ve said before, animation is a very time-intensive process, and two months doesn’t sound like a lot of time to get the rest of the production stages (rendering, lighting, editing, etc.) done. I’m sure Disney will complete it on time, but at what cost of the quality?
Other than that, I’m really stoked from the trailer footage so far, so let’s hope they pull out all the stops!
P.S. Read the comments below the article too. It makes me feel so good that other people also share the belief that there are other worthy animated films this year beside the Pixar juggernaut, and as much as I love Toy Story 3, I wholeheartedly agree with their take too. This is going to be a very interesting Oscars race this year!
I can’t believe it’s so long! I haven’t even posted here much but I’ve been following what you guys are saying. I absolutely can’t wait for this. Why can’t it come faster??
Okay guys, brace yourselves. We got a WHOLE bunch of new goodies today. First thing’s first:
Disney updated their Tangled webpage with a brand new layout, which features some cool new images and graphics. You can check it out over here: adisney.go.com/disneypictures/tangled/#/home/ (I actually thought the page transition effect was pretty cool. That’s personally my favorite thing about the site.)
Collider also released yet another brand new interview with one of the cast members of Tangled, this time with Mandy Moore. You can read the interview here: collider.com/2010/09/28/mand … w-tangled/
Also lastly, this is not really “news” so to speak, more along the lines of what I thought was particularly interesting. Warning it IS kind of spoiler-ish (although it doesn’t really reveal THAT much about the plot, so I can assure you, it’s perfectly safe).
So basically, people who have read the books on Tangled have been saying that [spoil]Flynn and Rapunzel don’t get married[/spoil], and yet, surprisingly enough, Disney has released some merchandises that has Rapunzel and Flynn [spoil]in wedding gowns[/spoil]:
So now, we can be rest assured that [spoil]these two DO infact get married, and that Rapunzel actually gets an outfit change other than the main she wears throughout most of the film[/spoil].
Glad that you guys like the new poster! I’m glad you guys are excited because we do have a lot of great new promos, clips and previews coming your way soon Danachii - I’m counting on you to post them for me
We held a special screening for some press last night, and here’s what one of them had to say:
You can read more below. It’s spoiler free, don’t worry!
