Tangled

Aw, yay! It makes me feel really glad that its going to be good. I’m getting tired of having to explain to people that the first trailer they saw in the theater really misrepresents the film.

wow, so much has happened since I’ve last been on these boards :open_mouth:
First of all, that featurette was absolutely amazing! I was a little nervous about Mother Gothel at first, but after seeing her fully animated, I now know for a fact that she’ll be a great female Disney villain

This is always good to hear  My favorite movies are the Little Mermaid, Beauty and the Beast, and Pocahontas, so for Tangled to be getting reviews saying that it’s like those films just makes me that much more excited for it!
Although- really don’t like the new poster. I was expecting something more in the vein of:

This one looks a lot like a Dreamworks poster to me :\

YAY! I for one, have read the storybook, and have gotten the main gist of the story, and these two are one of those rare couples where you just [spoil] NEED to see them get married. You just like want it so bad[/spoil] That just might be me though, does anybody else feel that way?
Also- I don’t know how much of you really care other than me, but the amazing Thomas Kinkade is rumored to be doing a Tangled picture!

Yay! Look to see the rest of his Disney images here : [url]http://www.thomaskinkadegallery.com/store/index.php/images-gallery/disney-collections[/url]

^ Yeah, his work is gorgeous! And with all the great colors and locations in Tangled, I bet the painting is going to be amazing!

Well thanks for being a loyal Disney supporter!

If you guys want to head over to our website, we have a character profile of Flynn Rider. I apologize if I missed this discussion earlier, but how do you guys think he’ll stack up in our line of Disney heroes?

I think he’ll be awesome! I love all the “rouge” princes. My favorite Disney movies are the ones where the prince actually has a personality and flaws to overcome, and he fits the ballot! So, yeah, I’m going to love him.

[spoil]Being hot also helps him a lot with me, too.[/spoil]

PS. DisneyMovies, I’ve seen stuff about a movie called “Reboot Ralph,”

heyuguys.co.uk/2010/05/14/di … ase-dates/

“Reboot Ralph is rumoured to be the story of an 8-bit arcade game character who is resigned to the retro gaming bin until he finds a way to jump into modern day games.”

Are there any details on that yet? I can’t seem to find any concept art. As a bit of a video game geek, that sounds interesting to me.

Another new featurette was just released today! Enjoy.

I think Flynn will be amazing! And I think he might even stand out from the rest. He seems sort of like a “ladies man” type of hero like Naveen, but the only exception is that he isn’t a Prince, plus from what I’ve seen in the concept art, promo stills and the trailers, pretty much everybody including the horse (lol 8D) hates his guts, though I’m getting the feeling that they probably have a huge misconception of him which probably gets resolved towards the end of the film.

And I TOTALLY have to agree with Rac_Rules on this one. I’ve always had a huge problem with the Disney heroes/princes whom were introduced in Disney’s earlier films because they:

a) Don’t have a name.
b) Don’t have a personality.
c) Don’t say anything other than 3 words or sentences.
d) Are incredibly bland, generic and just painful to watch.

I can easily point to characters like Prince Charming (Cinderella) and The Prince (Snow White) as perfect examples who fall under all four categories. That’s why I love Disney heroes like the Beast, Aladdin, Naveen, and even Flynn. Because they have PERSONALITIES and they’re also leads who get just as much attention just like their female love interests.

I think its great how this movie is influencing animation. Its true, even Pixar’s hair never really went beyond Violet. Usually its short and strait. But this movie is creating and developing techniques for long, flowy hair and long curly hair on the villain (I don’t think I’ve seen a CGI character with long curly hair before at all).

Hey, look, everyone! A tracklist!
amazon.com/gp/product/B0042K … ss_product

Oo, tracklist already?

[spoil]The Tear Heals [/spoil]sounds interesting. Reminds me of the original fairy tale!

Thanks for posting the information about the tracklisting TangledUpInDisney! I find it really interesting that this is one of the only Disney films that every character’s singing voice is also their acting voice. I really don’t know much about the thugs though yet, they could definitely be an exception to this. I also found it interesting that I searched the last song on the listing (titled something that I want by Grace Potter) and found this.

It seems like it was on One Tree Hill. Of course, this isn’t exactly the same title that they had on the tracklisting, but isn’t it wierd that this one was sung by Grace Potter too? If this is the song on the soundtrack, it’s kinda wierd that they’re actually using this as (I’m guessing here) the credits song. Sounds more spoiled brat to me than like what Rapunzel really feels. GRRR, I feel so angry looking at anything Tangled-related because there are so many haters out there who are really doubting this movie, I don’t understand why some of them can’t listen to the golden rule- “If you don’t have something nice to say, don’t say it at all” gosh, they just bother me SO much.

ellie-jessie-eve- [spoil]I read a little summary of the movie and Flynn is presumably hurt fatally by Mother Gothel, but Rapunzel heals him with her tears.[/spoil]

Awesome, just like in the original tale![spoil] Except in that version he becomes blind and her tears give him sight again. [/spoil]

EJE- Yeah! [spoil]I’m kinda hoping that his eyes are the part that are hurt[/spoil] xD just for the sake of the original tale…

Well, I think its reasonable to worry about or question the quality of a movie, but if all you can say is “Seriously this will suck and why isn’t it in 2d?” then yeah, heard it before, moving on.

Oh, how I’m tormented with spoiler tags… :frowning:

I’ve just been reading them all. I can’t resist them.

But once the movie premiers and TV Tropes is flooded with intense spoilers, then man, that’s going to be hard. It took all of my willpower not to spoil who died in PATF…

PS. When are the “Movie Surfers” videos on Tangled coming? Those usually have some good footage.

Yeah, I agree. It’s also pretty reasonable for fans like us to discuss worries and concerns over the movie in a calm and civilized manner. But if it’s just CGI bashing, spewing negativity and pessimism, or just pointless Disney hating because of personal biases and whatnot, then no thank you. I want no part in it.

Anyway, on a lighter topic, I found these interesting photographs I wanted to share.

Here’s some animators working on Tangled.

Hmm, I wonder what she’s staring at?

In celebration of the movie coming out, Disney decorated their Animation building with Tangled promo pics. I think it looks super cool! LOL I love Pascal in the most. xDD He’s so cute! <3

And here’s something someone on another forum made that I LOLed at:

8D

Nice finds Danachii! Makes me want to be an animator!

“Maximus the Paper Shredder” is strangely hypnotising to watch… :stuck_out_tongue:

Pascal FTW… it’s nice the hat’s getting a makeover in time for the movie!

Thanks ellie-jessie-eve! I’m glad you liked them so much.

Actually, after coming across quite a few harsh and pessimistic posts today, I felt the need to quote you and say how much I agree with what you’re saying, woody. Just… wow. People are so harsh on this movie. D: It makes me sad.

Honestly, I think Tangled is really going to surprise people. Just think about it for a second: people are saying that the movie looks like a Shrek rip-off only from watching the promos and the trailers, and yet we’ve had people who’ve actually SEEN the full film at early test screenings who have been saying that it’s a very good movie, and it’s definitely a straight-up Disney fairy tale with singing musical numbers by Alan Menken in it. I can already imagine the look of shock and disbelief on those peoples faces once the film hits theaters. 8D It’s gonna be SO priceless.

Doesn’t anyone here like toys? ANYBODY? Hello? :unamused: :frowning:

If this gets marked down, it’s so my sister Katey’s Christmas…

This has to be the most accurate Disney Store doll ever, since most of their princess dolls look like crap…

disneystore.com/tangled-rapu … 0/1000052/

I’m honestly surprised no one brought up the toys. You guys are so rolled up in the art in trailers. I always worry about merchandise first, though, because the price doubles after the movie comes out.
