Oh man! Tangled merchandise completely slipped my mind. I love collecting dolls of movie heroines oddly enough (have two NECA Coraline dolls that are AMAZING <img src=“{SMILIES_PATH}/love2.gif” alt=“:loves:” title="In
Love" /> ), but my problem is, particularly with Disney girls, they tend to look NOTHING like the characters! Usually the clothes are nice, but the faces, while pretty, just look like your average Barbie doll and usually bare very little resemblance. Anyone else notice this??
Those toys are oober cool Virginia! I really like the plushie of Rapunzel.
I must also say that I’m happy we finally have a Princess who’s dress is purple! Come on people, this took long enough. Purple is the color of royalty!
Aw, bad [spoil]songs[/spoil]? Oh well…maybe the plot will make up for it.
My point was that this doll actually looks like Rapunzel, though. The normal, $14.99 doll really looks like her. But yes, usually their dolls are crap.
Yeah, I saw this post yesterday on twitter, but I disregarded it completely. Because, for one thing, read the first line in the review again and you’ll notice that it says:
And a “review” is just that. A person’s personal opinion. Doesn’t mean we should take it at false value. I for not am NOT going to judge the music of the film yet until I actually go inside the theater and hear it for myself. What this person even saw was an EARLY SCREENING of the film, which means that it’s still un-finished, which means that there’s bound to be a lot of things that still need fixing and polishing up on Disney’s part. Frankly, I don’t know why this person even wrote a full-fledged review on an unfinished film. Pretty weird, if you ask me. :\
And on a different topic since we’re talking about toys now, on the livejournal community where I’m a member of, somebody made this post that I thought was just so adorable: community.livejournal.com/d_prin … 38472.html seriously, all of these merchandises are SOOO cute. I’m so tempted to buy one of the books, ornaments, plush toys and the art sets. They look so pretty! <3
Well, a lot of people complained about the music of Princess and the Frog, and while it took a couple of viewings for me to fully appreciate it, I overall love the soundtrack for that movie. And yes, it’s just a personal opinion, not a fact.
Yeah, I don’t listen to any song opinions that much. Different people have hugely different tastes. Some critics said they found Mulan’s music lacking, and I love it. Then there’s all the people who said that Princess and the Frog had weak music, but there were just as many who said it was awesome.
I thought the music in the Princess and the Frog was amazing. And how could someone not like Mulan’s music? That’s one of my favorites. I still have faith for this music. I can’t wait.
^Yeah, one of my close friends kept insisting that the music for PATF was really weak and forgettable, but I don’t know. I personally really loved the music for the film. Though the thing with me is that I’m generally really open-minded and I love all forms of music, so it’s really hard for me to find a song that I hate, lol.
That is a bit of dissapointing news about the [spoil]music[/spoil]. However, my main concern about the movie was it’s [spoil]story [/spoil]and I’m glad to hear that that was top notch, I can’t wait to see the final product.
Afterall, this is Menkin’s like bizzilinth Disney score, there was bound to be one that wasn’t up to par with the rest.
@ellie-jessie-eve: Forgive me, I’m not trying to sound mean at all here (and I do apologize in advance if I come off as such), but how can it be disappointing when none of us have even heard the music yet? And it’s not “news” of anything at all; it was just a review of what he thought after he watched the incomplete version of the movie at an advanced screening. The person who even runs StitchKingdom is a fan of Disney just like the rest of us here. So why is his opinion all of a sudden so important that it’s “news”-worthy? Just because he runs a mega popular Disney fansite on the intertubes or something?
But honestly guys, just wait until the movie comes out and go and judge for yourselves on whether the music is bad or not. Relying on someone elses opinion won’t help your own judgments and self-worth at all.
(And like I said, sorry if I came off kind of mean in my post. I was just trying to point out that it’s still too early to judge, that’s all.)
And I have to agree with you, Rac_Rules. I know what Disney is aiming for, but I’m getting tired of them repeating pop songs in the background in their promos. D: I want to hear Menken’s music instead!
I apologize if I was coming off as if I was judging the movie. If you see my posts on other upcoming movies, I say the same thing you did about judging it. I’m just saying it’s dissapointing to hear that the music wasn’t what the guy expected, and my post I even said that I was looking forward to seeing the movie, sorry I didn’t add "to come to my own conculsion.
@ellie-jessie-eve: You don’t need to apologize for anything (and like I said again, I’m sorry if I came off a little mean in my post). And I wasn’t actually talking about judging the movie. That had nothing to do with my post. And besides, regardless of how good this movie is in the end, people are still bound to judge it, criticize it, analyze it and even bash it. It happens with EVERY film, and it’s something that you can’t control.
The only reason I’m particularity irked is because everywhere I’ve been to, somebody has had that same review posted, which concluded with Disney fans and the rest of the board members to freak out, blowing it completely out of proportion and somehow getting the impression from the article that the music is terrible (and btw for anyone here who IS also freaking out, I should probably make it clear that in that review, the author never even stated that the music was “terrible” or “bad”. He just said they were “so-so”, which is NOT the same thing as “bad”. Just pointing it out.)
My point is that everybody is taking this guy’s post seriously, when the fact is that it’s not a statement of “fact” proving that the music from the film is terrible. It’s just his own opinion on it, so it people shouldn’t get so worked up over it. That is all.
Great featurette, that hair of hers can be quite versatile! But I’m getting a little bored* of Pink now… I hope it’s a case of ‘music-in-trailer-not-used-in-movie’ like LOTG.
Um… isn’t saying any opinion, even if it is enthusiastic, making a prejudgement as well? Not trying to call you out or anything, and I am looking forward to this movie as well, but just pointing out the hypocrisy in that statement.
That’s a good observation there. xDD I may have been a little too arrogant in my post, but I think it’s mainly because it’s 3:00 AM in the morning right now and I’m tired as heck, and I usually say things that I don’t mean. So I do apologize.
Like I said above though, I’m only irked because people are freaking out over this article, when there really isn’t anything to even freak out about. The author was just stating his opinion, which shouldn’t be mistaken as facts. And what if the music of the film turns out the opposite of how he described it in other peoples point of view? You never know, right?
Sorry for the double post again (my bad), but I realized there were two promo stills that I actually forgot to post about a couple of pages back, so I’m posting them now. Enjoy!
I know, right? Argh. It’s not THAT bad of a song, but it’s gotten kind of annoying now. It makes it looks like a trailer for a Dreamworks movie! I guess that’s just how they’ll “lure” their audience (the general moviegoers), but it sure as heck repels us actual fans…
