Yeah, I was totally in the same boat. But I suppose that’s the stereotype these days for Prince Charming’s… vapid and shallow pretty-boys. Heheh. Maybe for this one he’ll do something cute like redeem himself for Rapunzel’s love Plus this movie is bound to be better than Shrek-- At least we can be assured that Disney will not drag the story out for 3 more movies >:[
^This movie is going to be WAY better than Shrek, that’s for sure. With people like Alan Menken and Glen Keane on board, it just totally screams ‘EPIC WIN!’, lol. xDDD
EDIT; Disney’s official facebook page updated with another concept art of Flynn and Rapunzel! Drawn by the awesome Glen Keane, of course.
Hmm… Flynn looks a little bit like Prince Eric here. But he still looks really handsome! And Rapunzel is still a cutie, as always. <3
Love the GK piece… Rapunzel’s NOT AMUSED.
Thanks for the link, Danachii!
We all know that deep down she really loves him, but she’s still annoyed at him for stealing her spotlight, especially in the trailer.
And you’re welcome!
Ah, now that’s Glen Keane’s work all over. I bet I would have liked to see what the film would have looked like if Disney had made it as another 2D feature.
that’s one beautiful piece of artwork right there! I love Rapunzel’s face xD
The one thing I noticed when I went to see Toy Story 3 today was how practically everybody in the theater started laughing their butts off at the Tangled trailer, especially at the whole “here comes the smoulder” line. I mean, even my mom laughed at it, and she doesn’t even care about Disney. So I guess Disney’s lame marketing strategy is actually working. lol.
I loved watching the trailer in 3D on the big screen though. The resolution and the quality of the visuals and animation turned out way more amazing as apposed to just watching it on Youtube, and I could clearly see Flynn and Rapunzel’s facial expressions much better.
Okay, this may just be me being really dumb, but did anybody else think this film was going to be done in traditional animation? I really thought it was next in line in the return to hand drawn after TPatF. I was floored during the trailer at Toy Story 3; I hhad absolutely no idea it was computer animated!
Was anybody else like me?
Well back when it was going to be called Rapunzel Glen Keane envisioned it as being like a traditional feature in 3D (or more specifically like a moving painting which sounded like a very innovative concept), but I’m seriously having some doubts now that they’re still going for that, at least by the latest new footage I’ve seen.
No. I wasn’t the least bit surprised. =\
The thing is, this film was in development waaay before the Princess and the Frog. It started production around the time where Disney abandoned 2D animation and were demanding CGI instead. And this project got put off for seven years because they kept running into production problems, but they finally decided to wrap it up and finish it this year (finally!). They obviously are going back to traditional animation now, but it’s just that Tangled won’t be one of them because a lot of money was already invested into make this movie 3D. shrugs
Do they have any other 2D animated films in the pipeline then? Other than the upcoming Winnie the Pooh movie?
They were going to make a movie called the Snow Queen in traditional animation but that has officially been shelved. Although John Musker and Ron Clements are working on another 2d animated film. Which I am really excited about.
I think it’s kinda cool that even though they’re going to be making 2d animated films again, they’re still making a few cgi films. It’s nice to be diverse They’d be the first animation studio to consistently make both traditional and computer animated films.
I really hope they do some good Traditionally Animated pictures. NOTE: I said GOOD.
I’ve heard rumours that they’re working on a film called Amina the Jungle Cell, though I’m still waiting to see a reliable source on that. Either way, I certainly do hope that Musker & Clements will be back in the biz on a regular basis.
mogwai_milkshake- I agree I think their movies are Disney’s best.
Love the artwork ! It looks stunning :3
The thing I wished they hadn’t done was change the name :S I had hoped they kept with the original name
Love the perspective! Thanks Danachii!
On a side note, I saw Tangled’s trailer before TS3 yesterday, and the whole theatre went silent during the ‘Here comes the smoulder’ line. Then my friend burst out laughing when they cut to the gecko pounding his fist. xD
^I went and saw Toy Story 3 during the very first week that it was released, and because the Tangled trailer was still pretty new at the time, the entire theater bursted out laughing.
And you’re very welcome!
Speaking of which, I saw Toy Story 3 again for the second time today, and as usual, people giggled at the ‘smoulder’ line. Though there was this one guy sitting next to me who practically hurt himself laughing at Pascal (the gecko) pounding his fists. xDDD
yeah, every time I went to see Toy Story 3, Tangled got the biggest laughs from the crowd by far. Even I, (who’s seen it a ton by now) can’t help laughing when Rapunzel’s hair falls on top of Flynn and the horse just breaks out laughing. I don’t even know why I find it that funny, but I do xD
