New artwork from Disney’s Facebook:
That’s one bad-@ss reptile! Pascal, his name? Haha, he does have a way with colours (Do geckos camouflage, or am I confusing them with chameleons? xD).
Thanks for the FB image, pixarfan9099. I wonder what she’s pointing out in the picture?
I read somewhere that the hair smackdown and the pop song never appear in the actual movie, and that the trailers completely misrepresent it. The French trailer, for example, is much better.
I just hope that not too many people are turned off by the marketing, but according to you guys, the people seem to love it. I guess then its win win; Disney gets their money, we get a good movie.
Haha, yup. Pascal is his name. He’s supposed to be Rapunzel pet, and her conscience throughout the movie.
What you heard is correct. Both the hair smackdown and the “Let down your hair.” sequences in the trailer are not in the actual film; they’re merely test footages. This has also been confirmed by several of the key animators who are working on this movie.
The people who are really turned off by the trailer and the marketing might be more of the older Disney fans, but hey, I don’t blame them for it (being an older Disney fan myself, I also thought the marketing was quite lame). But you know what? I’m positive that there’s going to be a WAY better and a more epic trailer released that’ll appeal more to the fans as apposed to just the general audience, which was what the first trailer was intended for anyways.
Edit; And also, there’s no way it’ll have any Pink or heck, even pop songs in it. The score and the music is by Alan Menken (Remember Under the Sea, Part of Your World, A Whole New World, Beauty and the Beast, Be Our Guest, You’ve Never Had a Friend Like Me, Colors of the Wind, etc.? Yeah, he wrote all of those songs and just so much more). The music is going to be kick ass, I just know it. =D
^Oh, of course it will. I know who Alan Menkin is. (I fangirl over his music a lot, and people look at me oddly. XD)
But I can’t wait for the “epic” trailer. ME WANT! It makes me sad, though, because by this time last year, I was already stalking PATF for clips because the first trailer was so great…not this one. /:
YES GREAT NEWS! I criticized the song choice and overall tone of the trailer in my blog. Hopefully, it’s just silly marketing.
The French trailer, for example, is much better.
Really, Rac_Rules? Wow, I’d love a link! Do you have a link?
Anyway, while looking for the French trailer, I found an extended version posted by stitchkingdom that has some nice orchestral music over the additional footage. I hope this is reflective of the more epic version (if they choose to release one down the road).
I’m holding my hopes they will have an all-original soundtrack like PatF and not use licensed teenybopper/retro music like the Shrek franchise.
But I can’t wait for the “epic” trailer.
ditto I really want to see more of Rapunzel also, I mean she said like one line in the first trailer…
That’s one nice photo She seems kinda, angry at Flynn. Ha, I would be too if some stranger broke into my house though.
I enjoy Alan Menkin’s work. But his music always had that extra oomph when he worked with Howard Ashman. May he rest in peace. Anyway, I’m looking forward to the movie and his music.
I hope it really is much better like you guys say…
Alen Menken: the musician who taught me that if I give into my most basic urge, the urge to kill, humanity will be consumed by its own greed. In the form of plants.
He’s doing the score for this movie.
I was just thinking- I’m probably getting ahead of myself, but have you guys ever considered that there could be a Tangled sequel? I mean, Disney hasn’t ever really made a sequel that wasn’t straight to DVD, but Pixar has. And John seems to be turning Disney into a little Pixar. I mean, they’re even going to start releasing shorts in front of their films like Pixar! Another thing Pixar is doing is sequels, and good ones, not crappy straight to DVD ones. I think it would be interesting to see a good theatrical sequel from Disney, it would kinda redeem them from ruining all my favorite childhood movies with horrible sequels. And- they’re already making a new Pooh movie, so I guess that could be considered a sequel? Just something to think about

Actually, they’ve always done that. They just stopped for a while.
I’d rather not think about that right now…Disney sequels are never all that great, except on occasion. I just hope Tangled is good enough to be decent.

I’d rather not talk about a sequel right now, especially since the first movie isn’t even out yet. I mean, assuming that the movie IS a success, there could potentially be a sequel, but that’s just assuming if it is - there’s no guarantee. We’ll just have to wait and see though.
Though if you want my honest opinion, I really don’t want them to make a Tangled sequel. And I have to agree with Rac_Rules: I thought that the Aladdin, Peter Pan and the Lion King sequels were pretty decent and passable movies, but asides from those three, I really dislike most of the sequels Disney has made so far. The originals will always surpass the sequels, at least to me. :\
And since we’re on the subject of trailers now, I found the the Dutch (at least, I think it’s in Dutch) version, with an extended footage of Flynn that we hadn’t seen before (particularly the shots at 0:08 - 0:09). I admit, Flynn did tick me off a bit when he hogged all the spotlight in the first trailer, but he’s really sexy looking lol. :X I’m such a weirdo sometimes, I swear. xDDD;;

I have to say, this trailer is wayyy better than the actual one we got. The music in the beginning is absolutely gorgeous, and it doesn’t seem to focus on Flynn as much as the English one did. I’m still ticked off that Rapunzel only gets one line though. I’m surprised that we haven’t seen more footage yet…it seems like with other movies I would’ve have at least seen another featurette or just…something.

That footage was in the extended trailer I posted a few posts back, and some of the orchestral music from the Dutch trailer was heard (but the Dutch’s trailer music lasted longer). I hope it’s original score and not ‘trailer production house music’ like in Up and Wall-E. But really, it just proves that music can really alter the final impression of a film!
And yeah, I think ‘NL’ stands for Netherlands. Dank je wel, Danachii!
Honestly, the concept art for Tangled is absolutely beautiful, yet the finished frames of the film itself lack seem to lack that magic. It’s a shame, really, but I hope the final product is still a good movie.
I do like the Dutch trailer better than the English one, but it still doesn’t look that appealign to me. I like how the dutch version is still called Rapunzel!
Saw the trailer with a second viewing of Toy Story 3. I like it, and my daughter smiled and laughed, so that’s another positive. (She kinda sat there for the Megamind trailer.)
The trailer made me laugh…it kind of in a weird twisted way reminds me of the Princess and the Frog…which I loved and was obsessed with for half of the year…haha. I’m quite certain this is going to turn into another one of my favorite Disney films.
