The Adventures Of Tintin: The Secret Of The Unicorn

What an abomination!

I didn’t expect Tin Tin to make that much at the box office. It’s a shame though when these good movies bomb as the box office.

Apparently, not even the Spielberg-Jackson brand means something nowadays… but chipmunks do.

Yes. It irks me that the chipmunks are at the top of the box office barrel.

I wouldn’t go as far to say it was a bomb-remember it’s already made $230m worldwide-but it is rather disappointing for both this and TGWTDT, and dare I say surprising for the latter.

True, but it’s a shame that they aren’t doing so well domestically.

I would almost go as far to say that I am sort of a bit furious
My friend is taking me to see The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo on Wednesday, I hope it does well here.

I’m guessing the chipmunks must appeal to children here leading to its success. I thought it looked like garbage from the trailers and all. Anyway, I hope you enjoy it dd!

Cheers, Ballboi! I might do a review afterwards
The situation is like The Smurfs all over again. Marvellous original series, shockingly bad film.
Tintin appealed to a lot of kids here though, and I don’t think many of this generation grew up with Tintin here. My 9 year old cousin had never heard of it before seeing the film but she adored it. My 16 year old sister was the same story. Take the kids to see Tintin or Arthur Chritsmas or Puss In Boots, American parents!

Yep. It looks like it’ll go over like The Smurfs with its negative reviews. Oh, have you seen Puss in Boots yet?

I have! I quite liked it, although a lot of the adult humour irritated me. I place it the same as Kung Fu Panda 2, basically both good films although nothing to write home about. I prefer Tintin and Arthur Christmas more still, but it is certainly one of the better animated films of the year.

Don’t get me started on The Smurfs.:imp:

I agree. I was kind of thrown by some of the adult humor that was in Puss in Boots. The movie kind of ran out of steam by the final 15 minutes. It felt like they were using scenes to kill time to reach the 90 minute mark. Also, Humpty was kind of a weak character. He just felt kind of plain and generic. It is one of the better animated films this year though.

Well, lets face it, it has been one of the weakest years for animated films in living memory imo. Tintin, Arthur Christmas and Chico and Rita have been the only ones I would take away from this year. Most others have been only okay or average, like KFP2, Puss in Boots, Rango, Cars 2 and Rio, and some, like Mars Needs Moms and Happy Feet Two, have been just awful.
I’m watching LotR and being reminded how much I love Andy Serkis. I don’t care if he gives Captain Haddock a Scots accent, I still think he’s really good

I completely agree. It hasn’t been a good year in animation. Nothing has made 200M domestically and the quality of the films have been just average. Only one animated film was fantastic this year imo compared to three from last year. Hopefully, next year will be better.

Next year does look promising; Brave, ParaNorman, Wreck-It Ralph, Rise of the Guardians, The Lorax and Pirates! all fill me up with fuzzy excitement.

Yep. It does look alot better next year and hopefully one of those makes 200M domestically where none made it this year.

Tintin has a UK DVD/BluRay release date of the 19th March. Think I may preorder, which is something I don’t do very often.

Are there any motion capture films scheduled this year? I do think three was a tad too much for last year.

Oh, I’ll have to wait until March to watch it again, then.

I don’t know about that. I’ll have to look at what’s coming out this year again.

good movie, could’ve been more serious/dark imo
