The Chronicles of Narnia !!

Who here loves the movie

" The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion , The Witch, and the Wardrobe " ?

I think it’s the best

live action Disney film of this era . My favorite characters are Aslan ( points proudly to avatar  ) ,

Lucy, Mr. Fox, Mr. Tumbus , and General Otmin the Minotaur.

I don’t know about you, but I’ve got a

little bit of a crush on General Otmin .

Ooh I like The Chronicles of Narnia. I only

watched it a few months ago… long after it came out on dvd because it just never really interested me. I was

very pleasantly surprised when I watched it though!

It’s rather dark for a Disney movie, dont you think?

I remember I watched it while I was reading Lord of the Flies in School and all I could think about was how each

one of them was fighting man’s internal evil. Lol. Not the best circumstances to watch the movie!

I

really liked it though.

But you truly believe it’s the best live action during the era of Pirates of

the Caribbean? heheheh… It’s all good. Both are very very good.

I enjoyed

it . . . and I particularly liked Lucy.

I also like the fact that they are going to do

Prince Caspian in a few years. I can’t wait!

I used to enjoy the

BBC’s adaptation of The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe as a kid but only until

Santa Claus appeared, at which point I’d normally turn off the TV. I think the idea behind the story is good, I

love the concept of Narnia and the character of the witch, but it’s all higgeldy-piggeldy thrown together; in my

opinion, it could be much better than it is. What really bothered me, even as a child, is the Christian

references and morality – they’re really deliberately obvious and they seem to be forced down your throat,

especially with the Judas and the resurrection.
Other novels and films manage to maintain Christian morality

without making allusions to the Bible in every other scene (like the Harry Potter series).

Well, that’s

just me!

I did see the film, and, like when I was a kid, I loved it right up until Santa Claus

appeared. It’s not even a Deux es Machina, it’s just… silly to me. But the graphics certainly looked good,

and the actors did a great job. (Plus Mr. Tumnus was a hottie! That makes a nice change to the grisly old man I

grew up with in the role! )

I love the

books, but not the film. It always annoyed me how everyone focuses on The Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe, when

it’s not even the best story in the series. The film wasn’t bad- it had some good actors and special effects-

but the fact that the girl who played Lucy really annoyed me from the get-go spolt it for me.

One of the other reasons I was slow to watch it was

because I heard there were a lot of Christian references. When I watched it though they weren’t so blatent to

me. It only has to be Christian references when you want to look at it that way. I think the movie has a good

story and acting… so all is good.

I really don’t find it so

overwhelming with Christian refferences but then again I know the Bible in enough detail that some of the vaguer

allusions may pass me over as if they don’t exist at all since I overanalyse and don’t make the full

connection. But honestly I see just as many Pagan references as well as allusions to other cultures and

mythology so I see it more as a hodgepodge that Lewis threw together like Tolkein did for Lord of the Rings.

I liked it, but I didn’t buy it yet

becuase I’m holding out for the extended edition. WOO!

That’s

the only part of it that really bugs me, too. The whole use of “Son of Adam” and "Daughter of

Eve" seemed forced to me, and didn’t fit with the scale of the rest of the movie. And Father Christmas.

The whole resurrection thing didn’t bother me that much, but you have to admit that "Son of Adam, Daughter

of Eve" and Father Christmas had to have been a lot harder for the filmmakers to work with than the

resurrection of Aslan was. But then, all that is C.S. Lewis’s fault; I still think that as a movie, Narnia is

incredible. Absolutely loved the battle. Personally, I liked the movie a heckuva lot more than I did the

book. With Lewis’s writing style, the movie really makes you realize how epic the story can be if done

right.

Anybody seen

the other versions of this? There’s an animated one, and one that I think was done for British television. I

haven’t seen them in a while but I don’t think I liked them much.

I’ve seen it,

and it’s really not that good. There’s hardly any characterisation and the animation is definitely below

par.

Disney’s version was the best. The

BBC version was downright horrible. I know- I owned the three films at one point until I finally saw fit to

return them after seeing the new one. The LEAST they could’ve done for the first ones was keep Aslan’s mouth

moving in sync with his talking. =P

I bought the DVD last week. I loved watching it. The battle scene is by far my most favorite part. My

favorite characters are Peter and Susan.

Here’s something I saw while surfing my favorite Narnia

sites:

I added the bold part about

current deals staying in place, so there’s no confusion: Fox will now be distributing Walden Media’s future

projects, but the Narnia movies will continue to be distributed by Disney.

I really need to watch

this film again- though they did dramatize it from the book, it made it better, since the book was bad =P I like

the Last Battle better, and a Horse and His Boy, though it has little to do with Lucy and the others.

This movie rawks since it got me into Imogen Heap’s music, which rawks as well. ^___^ I saw a music

video from her on demand. ‘Goodnight and Go’. I’m on the lookout for her CD.

Out of all the Narina books, I’d have to say I like Voyage of the Dawn Treader

& Prince Caspian the most. I liked the other books, but those seem to stick out

the most . . .

I know tere will be a

sequel to this. Anybody know the film title and release date? I think it is Prince Caspian or something.

Prince

Caspian will hit theaters at Christmas time 2007.

Sorry. New reports show that Prince Caspian is now looking at a Summer 2008

release. Yeah, I know. (On the bright side, it looks like 2008 will be a great summer for me: graduation, Narnia,

and the Olympics! Wow, I’m a

nerd…)

out.

After that, it’s reported that producer Mark Johnson and writer/director/genius (added that

last part) Andrew Adamson will team up to direct Voyage of the Dawn

Treader, which is slated to be released sometime in 2009… they will eventually

make movies of all seven books. (Yay!) I’m trying to find the filming order - I think it’s basically the

publication order, but I think there was one or two flipped around near the end - and when I do, I’ll share it

here.

Edit: Bingo! Here’s the filming order, according to

“Entertainment Weekly:”

 1. The Lion, the Witch & the Wardrobe (2005)
 2. Prince Caspian

(2008?)
3. Voyage of the Dawn Treader
4. The Silver Chair
5. The Magician?s Nephew
6. The Horse and

His Boy
7. The Last Battle

The filming order is identical to the publication order up until

Silver Chair. They’ve flipped Magician’s Nephew

(which was written sixth) with The Horse and His Boy, which was written fifth. Also,

according to this article, there’s a chance that Prince Caspian may get bumped back to Christmas 2008 (instead

of Summer 2008) because of the effects demands. There are no offical release dates for any of the movies right

now (and Caspian’s is really sort of official-ish).

You can find a scan of the article

here.

Wow . . . I did not know that. I thought they were just

going to skip Horse & his Boy entirely, due to the fact that it’s an Inbetweenquel in Book II - IV. May

have been too confusing for general fans or something.
